I grabbed my purse and headed outside to go and buy lunch.
J was on the phone, but saw me come outside and signaled for me to wait.
“I’m going to buy lunch, J. And I only get an hour so I don’t have time to wait for you,” I said, tersely. He kept talking and scowled at me. I turned and started to walk away from him, towards the cafe where I always bought lunch.
I could hear him muttering something into the phone and then he must have ended his call because he went silent. Then, he barked, “Madison!”
The last thing I wanted to do was stop for him, but there was something in his tone; a ‘don’t fuck with me’ command. So I stopped, and turned around to look at him. Oh, my. He was shitty.
He stalked to where I was and got in my face. “Why the
fuck do you have to be so difficult about this?” He was fuming.
Well, I could see him, and raise him in his anger.
“Maybe it has something to do with the way Scott has gone about this. And the fact that he sent you!”
He flinched. It was only for a second, and most people wouldn’t have even noticed it. But I knew J, and I saw it. It surprised the fuck out of me. “Well then, it looks like we’ve got some shit to sort out, babe, because I’m not going anywhere.”
“I don’t want to sort shit out with you. That ship sailed two fucking years ago, J,” I spat.
He gripped my arm, pulling me closer, “No, it fucking didn’t,” he growled, eyes blazing, “And you can’t deny there’s still something here. I feel it and I know you feel it too.”
I laughed. No, actually, I cackled. “You wanna fuck, J? I can feel that, and, yeah, if you wanna go there, I’m all for it. But don’t mistake my desire for your cock for anything else.”
Another Motorcycle club book…omg…really? Gosh I’m so bored with MC books – SAID NO ONE E V E R !!!!!!!!!!!
I was so excited for this story by the cover, the blurb, and yes the first 15%! Within the first 15% I was all in. It had my attention. I was psyched this would be THE MC read. Even at 15% I was all ready to give this a 5 easily.
But… Gosh I hate to say this but it missed the mark for me. I found that I was left yearning for more through out the story. I wasn’t grabbed again after my initial excitement. At 60% I started jumping over words, then skimming. I don’t like to skim. Definitely not when I know I have to write a review, sadly I had to.
I’ve often said this before, if you’ve read my other reviews, I’m a known for “I must see it to believe it…and to feel it.” Having the past that they did and to come back to each other it was sort of that instant attraction. Even though, in words Madison put it off, deep down, it wasn’t over. I would have liked to see more of their past prior the ‘event’ that changed them. It’s like a story of a story, if that makes sense.
There are some positives though. I was entertained at parts. Particularly with Jason. I liked when I saw his name a the beginning of a chapter. I knew the stuff he said would be epic. I loved J. I loved his mouth, his attitude.
“Your p***y, babe. It’s mine.”
“Really? And who says so?”
“After that, you’re gonna f’ing argue?”
“Maybe I just like to have a say in these things.”
“Yeah, baby. I remember. But let’s setting this now. You and your p***y are mine, Yeah?”
Almost everything. One thing struck me a little odd, ESPECIALLY from a MC badass. He seemed to have a mush side. Not overly mushy but it’s something I’m not used to seeing in a tatted & leathered up MC guy.
Now, Madison. I have to give it to Nina and kudos to Madison herself. Even though she had some issues in her life. No she wasn’t a saint, but once she had gotten all the facts there was no second guessing what she had to do and what she wanted. There was no tittering, or talking herself out of it. It was a done deal and I loved that. I also loved that she was a woman….A WOMAN. Not some freshly hatched blonde dummy with looks to kill and no brain cells 🙂 She wasn’t perfect, by all means. She was normal. That I liked!
“Men, I can’t f***kin work them out!”
Another positive was that this was a short read. Less than 200 pages. Definitely a one sitting read.
A warning though, you will find hot, dirty sex, lots of swearing, occasional violent encounters and men and women who live fast and love hard.
Nina’s debut book Storm will be releasing in November 2013. It is based around the Storm Motorcycle Club and is the first book in an MC series.
