When two unlikely allies become two unwitting outlaws, will two unforgettable lovers defy unbeatable odds?

Bonnie Rae Shelby is a superstar. She’s rich. She’s beautiful. She’s impossibly famous. And Bonnie Rae Shelby wants to die.

Finn Clyde is a nobody. He’s broken. He’s brilliant. He’s impossibly cynical. And all he wants is a chance at life.

One girl. One boy. An act of compassion. A bizarre set of circumstances. And a choice – turn your head and walk away, or reach out your hand and risk it all?

With that choice, the clock starts ticking on a man with a past and a girl who can’t face the future, counting down the seconds in an adventure riddled with heartbreak and humor, misunderstanding and revelation. With the world against them, two very different people take a journey that will not only change their lives, but may cost them their lives as well.

Infinity + One is a tale of shooting stars and fame and fortune, of gilded cages and iron bars, of finding a friend behind a stranger’s face, and discovering love in the oddest of places.

He bit back a curse and strode to his truck. Unlocking the door, he tossed his bags in the backseat, climbed in, and slammed the door. He turned the key and backed out resolutely, trying to ignore the fact that she had risen, her hands on her bags, and that her hood had slipped from her head. She didn’t move forward, didn’t call out to him to wait. She just stood there, watching him go. He shifted into drive and made it 100 feet before he let his eyes find her figure in the rear view mirror.

“Unbelievable,” Finn ground out, and slammed the wheel with the palm of his hand. He slowed to a stop. “UNBELIEVABLE!” he reprimanded himself even as he engaged the brake, pushed the door open and lurched out of the idling vehicle. Bonnie still stood with her two duffle bags in her hands, her grandma’s stolen purse on her shoulder, but now her lips were slightly parted, clearly stunned that he’d stopped.

And she wasn’t the only one. Finn felt like he was split right down the middle. The rational part of his brain, the side that ensured his survival and his sanity, was outraged, demanding that he keep driving, while the side of his brain that was connected to his heart and other parts of his body was breathing a sigh of relief that he hadn’t let her get away.

She didn’t move, as if she was sure that the moment she did he would change his mind, climb back in the Blazer, and drive away. So he walked back to her, battling with himself every step of the way. He walked until they were practically toe to toe, her dark eyes wide and lifted to his, his hands shoved into his pockets so he wouldn’t strangle her. But his pockets felt like manacles around his wrists and he yanked them free, fisting them in the front of Bonnie’s puffy pink coat and raising her up on her toes and into him until they weren’t toe to toe any longer but nose to nose. His emotions were a big tangled ball of anger, longing, and injustice all wrapped up in impatient outrage, and Finn couldn’t separate one feeling from another. So he did the only thing he could do. He kissed her.

It wasn’t a soft kiss or a sweet kiss. It was a ‘you-scared-me-and-messed-with-me-and-I’m-mad-and-relieved-and-unbelievably-frustrated’ kind of kiss. It was teeth and lips and nipping and bruising, and Finn couldn’t make himself stop, even when Bonnie’s teeth tugged at his lower lip and her hands pulled at his hair. Especially then. And when she wrapped her arms around his neck and stepped up onto his toes so that she could press herself flush against him, he decided revenge really was sweet, and enjoyed the feel of her face against his, the wet heat of her mouth making him forget he was standing in the middle of a Motel 6 parking lot with his ride rumbling behind him, the driver side door still hanging wide open. The rational part of his brain was stunned into peaceful silence…for all of ten seconds.

Chapter 1

Cameron Pierce didn’t really know what to expect when the entire nightmare began days before his eighteenth birthday, but here he was, standing behind a large metal door waiting for it to open and grant his freedom. Nine years, eight months, two weeks, and five days of hell. Even though he had to stay in a designated halfway house for the next few months, at least he wouldn’t have these bars or barbed wire fences to constantly remind him of his nightmare.

He fidgeted. In exchange for almost ten years of his life, the prison system gave him a hundred bucks for expenses during transfer, and a plain, standard-issue cardboard box containing his personal items—a watch, ten bucks, and a pack of gum. Everything broken or useless, which pretty much mirrored his existence. He ditched the box and everything else then pocketed the cash.

The gears of the large metal door ground as they inched open. Cameron shifted his weight from foot to foot, waiting for just enough space to squeeze through the door. He looked over to the guard and concluded he’d be better off attempting to walk out of this prison with a little dignity. At the pace these doors opened, he figured he’d age another decade in the process. He closed his eyes and counted, begging for a little patience to come his way. He finally heard the grinding stop and opened his eyes.

There, in the middle of the empty parking lot, Sam leaned against a car with crossed arms and a smile.

Cameron groaned as he finally exited the prison gates.

Mr. Samuel Issacs, rehabilitation officer, also secretly campaigned for sainthood every chance he had. His job was to help a group of assigned inmates rejoin the world with others but his mission was to mentor them. Sam wanted to talk, help, and offer support. Cam, on the other hand, knew better than to open his mouth, and he damn sure wasn’t going to risk Sam becoming some form of collateral damage.

Cam had learned that lesson the hard way.

“Hey, Sam,” he said once he arrived where Sam was parked.

“Hey, Cam. I thought I’d give you a ride to the halfway house instead of having you take the bus,” he said as he opened the passenger side door of the car.

Cameron waited, not sure if sitting in a car for hours with Saint Sam was a good idea.

“C’mon, Cam. I can guarantee you the drive with me will be better than a busload of people coming back from Universal Studios with stinky feet and a crapload of gas.”

Cameron groaned.

Sam laughed. “Besides, I already filled out the paperwork so you’re stuck with me. Get in.”

Cam didn’t say a word. He climbed into the car, sat in the passenger seat, and then closed the car door.

“Buckle up, it’s the law.”

“Are you kidding me?”

“Nope, state of Florida, it’s the law.”

“Since when?”

“Just strap in so we can get out of here.”

Cameron groaned again as he pulled the belt and clicked it in place. He hated the way it cut into his damn shoulder. Who knew what else had changed while he was in prison. Just another reminder of things he had missed. He shifted in his seat only to have his movement limited by the seat belt restraint.

Here he was, finally out of prison, yet somehow still found a way to be constrained in a small enclosed area. Hell, this was even smaller than the six-by-eight cell he’d called home for almost a decade.

How ironic.

Manwhore. Adrenaline junkie. Lead singer of ContraBand. What you see is what you get. I make no apologies for my actions, and by now no one expects any from me. I live my life the way I want and as long as it pushes the demons back, then I’m solid. I’ve never needed a chick for more than a good lay. Why would I need just one when I can have a different one every night?

Until she walks into my world.

Mouthy. Perfectionist. Princeton student. Chemistry major. Yes, that pretty much describes me. Oh, and virgin. But I’m only nineteen, and have more important things to concern myself with. What really matters is finishing my degree and getting a good job. I’ve worked hard for what I want, and do what’s expected of me. I don’t need anyone to get in my way.

Until he opens up my world.

But if I give you my world, whatever you do…don’t TAKE ME for granted.

Jodie's review

5 stars

“The world tilted. My body ached and pleaded and retreated and demanded and so many things all at once that my thoughts, feelings, senses mingled together into an indescribable sensation.  A bit like a reaching the top of a rollercoaster right before you plummet to your death and a bit like the first time I’d gotten tipsy and still more like riding with the top down in the convertible.  It was all those things and none of those things and so much more that I could never even think of.”

I don’t think I have to write anything else that is exactly what I felt reading this book.  It was my HOLY GOD I LOVE her even more book!!  Seriously, not that it was possible but I think I just made a new category for her in my kindle.  I thought I was in love with the Avoiding Series and then I read Off the Record and said, “Oh she will never get me to like anything more than this!”  Well, she did and his name is Grant and ….

”I kind of want my virginity back so I can lose it to him.”

This was what I love to read, Rock star, a man whore, and everything else that comes with that combination!!  YAY, my kindle was almost in tears with excitement!!!  Aribel is not your typical girly girl falls at the feet of the rock star.  Nope, KA didn’t do that.  Instead she gave us, a girl that was more into her grades and where she was going then sitting in a bar following bands.  She didn’t care that her boyfriend broke up with her.  She doesn’t hold back and says what she is feeling. She is a girl without a filter and I LOVED HER (even if she was a virgin)!!!   I loved her and I hope my daughter turns into her!

When Aribel meets Grant in a bar, I was already in love!  Honestly I was a groupie and all he said was Darlin’!

“Grant McDermott is the lead singer of ContraBand,”  Cheyenne filled in with an eye roll.  “He’s practically the whole reason we show up.  I can just see his fingers playing across that guitar and imagine what they would do to my body.”

Oh I was imagining things and wishing for things and what was I talking about.  Oh so Aribel and him meet and instantly there is an attraction there.  However Aribel isn’t one to just fall for him as I said, she  doesn’t take his crap, and she could careless that girls are lining up to get his attention, she doesn’t want it!!

“So Aribel you don’t like darlin’?”

“I might like it if you happened to be from a fifties western movie,” I said.

Grant cracked a smile.  “Not a western, darlin’.  Try southern gentlemen.  Rhett Butler.”

“Are you going to try to peddle Gone with the Wind to me?  No really,” I said, turning back to Grant, “have you read anything longer than a Penthouse magazine?”

“There are articles in Penthouse?” Grant asked.

As you can see there was no insta love happening and I think that’s what I love about KA’s writing.  And just like all KA books, these two have crazy off the charts chemistry but she gave this an old school innocent romance.  Even though this is a story that has been told before, you know, Rock star meets virgin KA put her spin on it to give it a breath of fresh air and just like everything she writes she made sure to include the drama that I LOVE!!   These two can fight like no other couple I have ever seen, and she makes it work and of course she leaves you wanting more!!

“Like an addict, I needed more and more…”

I sat up, reached out, and touched his jeans hesitantly. “I thought, um…that is, if you want…maybe we could try something else.”

Grant’s eyes lit up like a Christmas tree. “What do you have in mind?”

I turned crimson from head to toe. My hand slid up his leg, and over his dick. He looked at me like I’d just offered him the world. Maybe I had?

“Yes, whatever you want, yes.”

I laughed lightly. He was so eager, and I was so hesitant. What a pair.

As if seeing my uncertainty, he stood and stripped out of his jeans and the navy blue boxer briefs that apparently had held him in very tightly. My eyes bugged, and I tried to hide that fact. He was tall, and the correlation between that and size meant something…but damn.

He extended his hand to me and then scooted me off the bed. His lips found mine softly. “Calm down.”

He placed my hand on his dick, and with a breath, I started gliding it up and down the length of him. A groan escaped him at my touch. I couldn’t keep a smile from tugging on my lips.

“Like this,” he whispered, his fingers tightening around my small hand.

I gripped him harder and kept pumping. As I watched him, I couldn’t help licking my lips. He was so unabashedly sexual.

Grant ran a finger against my bottom lip. “You keep licking those lips, Ari, and I’m going to want them around my cock.”

I took a deep breath and then sank to my knees. I thought he stopped breathing.

When Liam’s boyfriend turned producer decides rent boys make more money than porn stars Liam’s nightmare takes a horrible turn. Justin must find a way to rescue him before it’s too late.

Jen's review

5 stars

I am not sure how to even put into words how this book affected me, so I’m going to do my best. The subject matter is so heavy. Liam is a sex slave, a porn star, an 18 year old kid who literally is at the mercy of his “boyfriend” Cord.  The things Liam is forced to do out of obligation and fear because Cord saved him from the streets practically had me doubling over feeling so sick for him. The harsh reality of the sheer hell Liam lived with is nothing but sickening.   I literally had to walk away in parts because it was so crushing and it was so painful to read at times.  D.P. didn’t sugar coat anything and nothing was swept under the rug.

This story is definitely not one for the faint at heart, it’s dark, it’s emotional, it’s very harsh, gritty, real and raw. When I thought things couldn’t possibly get any worse for Liam’s situation I was quickly proven wrong time and time again. Nothing is easy, actually things get a whole lot worse before they get better. Liam’s only solace in the nightmare he’s living is Justin.  A guy who lives across the hall that has absolutely no idea what really is going on with Liam. When he does find out he’s at the mercy of wanting to take matters into his own hands or doing what is right for Liam.  And let me tell you all, I have never met a character like Justin.  This man, this beautiful, tender man who is so understanding, so patient, so strong, so determined with the most beautiful soul was just an absolute god sent.  There was never a moment where he tried to take advantage of the situation. The respect I feel for him is just insurmountable. What I’m feeling is “Thank fucking god for Justin”. Thank god someone is finally treating Liam like a human being not a hired piece of ass or some whore they can do whatever they feel like doing to him. Thank god someone cares enough to see that Liam deserves to have respect and dignity.

D.P.’s writing is just so raw and so brilliantly done that you will feel every single emotion, touch, fear and hardship going on throughout. It’s definitely one of those stories where it reaches deep levels within you and shakes you to the core because it’s not pretty, it gets real ugly. The aftermath of Liam’s ordeal is just as gut wrenching. This poor broken soul.

This is definitely not a hearts and flowers story, it’s not your typical m/m where everything is all hot and steamy.  I’m so grateful that she didn’t wrap this up in a neat little bow at the end because after what Liam went through there is definitely going to be long lasting effects. I need the next book. I need to see how Liam is coping, I need to see him heal emotionally.  I wouldn’t say this leaves you with a cliffhanger more like you’ll be craving for more. Seriously, Thank you for introducing me to an unbelievably heart wrenching story. I cannot wait to read the next installment because there is just so much story that needs to be told.

He hated Tuesdays. Hated them beyond mere loathing, but he didn’t have a word for what came after loathing. Despised seemed far too civilized.

Liam stood in the bedroom with his back to the mirrored closet doors so he wouldn’t have to look at himself and ignored the brush of heavy terrycloth against his skin. That robe represented everything he hated about his life. His stomach churned with resentment that made it tempting to lock himself in the bathroom. Too bad that wouldn’t do any good.

He heard the dreaded knock at the front door on the far side of the apartment and the knot in his stomach pulled tight. There had been a time when that sound had made him want to hurl chunks. He supposed the lack of terror was an improvement of sorts.

“You ready, Babe?” Cord called from the living room.

“Yeah,” he called back, “why the hell not,” he muttered to himself.

He padded out of the room struggling to feel something besides annoyance as Cord opened the front door to welcome the man he’d be sharing a bed with for the next eight hours. He was compact and bulky with short-cropped bottle-blonde hair, and a tan he obviously hadn’t gotten from the Vancouver sun.

Liam flopped into a chair near the kitchen and pretended to be engrossed in one of Cord’s trade magazines. He saw no reason to acknowledge the rented cock of the day until absolutely necessary. Instead, he flipped pages while Cord talked about positions and emotion in a lecture he didn’t need to hear. He’d been doing this twice a week every week for years. He knew the routine. It didn’t matter that a hundred shoots a year wasn’t the industry standard. It was Cord’s standard.

He ignored Bulky Blonde as the actor stripped out of his clothes to give Cord a look at what he had to work with that afternoon. There was nothing new on that body. They all looked the same: tan, toned, and tattooed. He didn’t need to see it. He’d get a very good look over the course of the day.

He stifled a sigh he knew would sound petulant and turned another page without seeing anything on it. Cord hated it when he pouted. He could be angry and resentful as long as he did what he was told. Pouting would just get him a pep talk full of lies. Those weren’t new either.

He saw Bulky Blonde step to him out of the corner of his eye and pasted on his best smile before looking up to meet his gaze. Being difficult and aloof with the rented cocks only dragged out the torment. When they were tense, they did things wrong and the more they got wrong the more time he had to spend with them. He stood up and tossed the magazine in the chair before shaking Bulky Blonde’s hand.

“I’ve seen a few of your videos,” Bulky Blonde told him. “I like your work.”

He couldn’t say the same and he wasn’t in the mood to lie.

You don’t choose when.

You don’t choose where.

And you don’t get to choose who you fall in love with.

The minute he opened his sexy mouth, Holliday Hughes should have known Jack Dalton was trouble. His smooth pickup lines, broad shoulders, and ridiculously handsome face charmed her right out of her clothes. She gave into her desires, the instant attraction blinding her to the obvious.

One night. That was all it took for Holliday’s world to be flipped on its axis. Jack Dalton was cocky. Smug. Volatile. Demanding. He ignited something deep inside her like no other, but there was something more to this brooding bad boy. There was a dark side to him she couldn’t help but be drawn to.

Torn between what she knew about him and a mysterious side he tried to hide, could she walk away or was he simply too hard to resist?

Pageflex Persona [document: PRS0000038_00071]

Wait. Don’t go. Stay. Whether we have sex or not, I just want your company.” His expression appears sincere, but he seems to have several sides to him.

With my back against the door, I keep my eyes on his. “Look. I don’t sleep around… much. But I have slept with someone just because it was Wednesday.” I shrug. “So I’m not innocent over here, but I work hard and I have a pretty crappy social life because of it. Sometimes it’s nice to feel a warm touch that vibrates with excitement instead of a cold one that’s battery-operated.” I step forward as if I owe him more, more of an explanation, or more of me, I’m not sure. “Judge me if you must, but I’m in Vegas and now officially on vacation. And despite what you may think, I’ve only had the one drink so far today, so I’m not drunk. I’m a grown woman who appreciates a handsome face and the artistry of a tattoo that has meaning to the person wearing it. I actually thought we’d have dinner and a good time. All that came from somewhere pure, somewhere that now feels dirty, a little tainted. So I’m going now and if one day you find yourself not so lost in Los Angeles, you know my information.”

I don’t wait for a response or apology. I don’t know Dalton well enough to know if he’d offer one anyway. So I go without looking back, passing the room service waiter on the way, and hop in an elevator that’s for the exclusive use of the two penthouses.

Half expecting to hear him call after me, my finger hovers over the Lobby button, but I count to ten and when I don’t hear anything, I push it. The doors start to close when a hand reaches in, stopping them. Dalton peeks around the corner with a big smile in place, and says, “Can we start over? Stay for dinner?”

“Because I like you. I like your honesty and I don’t get much honesty in my line of work.”

“You’re an undercover narc. Of course you don’t get much honesty. Isn’t that why you got into the business?”

A sly smile crosses his face, revealing a small dimple in his cheek. A light sparks from within, reflecting in his eyes, and with a nod of his head, he says, “Come back. I’ll feed you and give you the sex you came up here for. Because it’s a Friday and while Friday may not be hump day, it’s still a damn good day of the week.”

My mouth drops open. “The sex? You’ll give me the sex because it’s Friday?” I roll my eyes while huffing, and then push the lobby button twice.

Stepping inside, he blocks the doors from closing and a buzz is heard from overhead. With his arms stretched wide, he looks into my eyes. “No. I mean, if you want the food that’s currently getting cold inside, you can have it. If you want to have sex, let’s fuck. You can have anything you want.”

The elevator starts buzzing even louder, escalating its level of warning. Dalton spreads his feet apart to hold the doors open and reaches for me. “I’ll even call you Holli since that’s what you prefer.”

He’s sexy and when he’s flirting with me, even sexier. I can’t give in too easily though. I should make a few ground rules, or at least one. “I’ll only come back on one condition.”

“Name it.”

Beth's Review

3.5 stars

The Resistance by S.L Scott is the first book by this author that I have read and after reading the synopsis I couldn’t wait to read this one. Holliday Hughes is the creator of the very popular “Bite Me Lime” and is off to Vegas for a conference and a bit of a getaway vacation to let lose. That is where she meets Mr. Tall-Dark-Hottie, Jack Dalton, and the attraction between the two is instant. Using his smooth lines, he gets her attention and offers to buy her a drink, and maybe more.   Normally what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas but not with Holliday and Jack, after spending the weekend together and her getting to know the real Jack Dalton a bit better, they decide that they want even more, and continue to see were this will take them, they are not ready for this to be over. But living in different places, having lives that were completely different, could they really do more?

Holliday was a really good character, for once it was nice to see a successful and independent business woman as the lead female character rather than the normal broken timid girl that most stories have. I enjoyed her interaction with her friends and with Jack, she was loving and sweet and lots of fun. Jack was a mix of things, he had a little bit alpha male to him, a sweet and tender side but also showing a bit of a darker side to him. I must say these two characters were good characters and did have great chemistry, but I struggled to connect with them, I liked them but just didn’t love them.

This book was a well written enjoyable read that had a great mix of some fun banter, lots of hot sex and some angst added. Although for me, like with the characters, I struggled to connect to their story and their love, it felt too insta-love  for me.   I lovea hot sexy holiday hook up that has great chemistry, but their strong feelings for each other just came way too quick for me. I would have loved to see more build up to those feelings rather than them be feeling the way they did just after 2 days in Vegas. I also found myself wanting more from the story. When these two were together, all they basically did was have sex, when they were apart all they did was say how much they missed each other, I wanted to see more depth with their feelings and story.
I did enjoy the storyline and the few twists the author added to it, I just found it fell flat for me at times and come the end, was left feeling that the book had so much more potential but just didn’t reach it. Final thought, The Resistance was a good enjoyable read I liked, sadly with seeing all the great 5 star initial ratings, I went into this book expecting it to be a great one that I was going to love.

How To Save A Life by Amber Nation Cover Reveal

How to Save a Life Cover

Releasing June 3, 2014

Mike Jameson’s world came crashing down around him and he has refused to let anyone else in since. Running through the daily motions of life he keeps himself busy, whether it was being the drummer for The Nation’s Capital, working on vehicles, or being a paramedic. His one goal in life has been to save lives, but he has no idea that it’s his life that needs saving.
Sheridan Nichols makes an unexpected appearance in Brown County on her way out of the nightmare she was living. One fateful night, she is hit by a drunk driver and left injured and stuck in a strange town now without a car. Mike steps up to the plate and volunteers to let her stay at his house, and in the process, volunteers his heart as well.
Friendships form and chemistry ignites and after one passionate night Mike thought things between the two of them were about to change. But Sheridan hides a secret, one which is ultimately a game-changer. When her past catches up with her, will she have to rely on herself or will explanations and apologies be enough to salvage things? In the end, will they discover that by being together they save each other’s life?

I was done pretending that there was absolutely nothing between us. I just knew that in the end one or the both of us would get our world ripped apart and our heart broken, but then there was that little chance that everything would turn out perfectly alright. I wanted to believe in that little chance. I wanted that little chance to expand into something amazing and my worrying to end up being a nonexistent glimmer of doubt.

I felt completely stripped bare and all of my emotions towards this man were being brought to true light. I couldn’t hold back another second longer.

This was finally it, the moment that I would give into everything that I had sworn against. The stage lights faded out and the house lights came on but dimmer than before and music began streaming through the strategically placed speakers once the band exited the stage.

I didn’t know how long it would be until Mike came out and found me but I knew without a shadow of a doubt that it would happen.

I left Tessa where she was standing and went to discard my empty glass back at the bar and as soon as I sat the glass on the counter, I felt a light tap on my shoulder and a warm breath at my ear that instantly made a shiver run down my spine, “I bet you could play this song much better on the piano.”

I hadn’t even noticed that Faithfully by Journey had come on through the speakers, I was so into my own head trying to decide the next step between the two of us. I turned around and looked straight into Mike’s eyes, the vulnerability and raw passion that was reflecting back at me was enough to take my breath away. He was so unbelievably beautiful, every single bit of him down to his deeply hidden emotional scars. I pulled my bottom lip in between my teeth as he took my hand and led me to the center of the makeshift dance floor.

He pulled me close to where one of his hands was curved around my waist while the other held one of my hands on his chest between us. “Dance with me, Sheridan,” he said huskily. It wasn’t a request, it was more of a command. You could tell that he was definitely feeling the effects of being so close to me. I wrapped my free hand around his shoulder and rested my chin up on it as we just swayed to the beat of the song.

It really brought a smile to my face whenever he began softly singing the words in my ear while he drew tiny circles on my lower back. I would’ve never been one to peg Mike for the singing type, but he had a beautiful tone. To hear him sing about being only mine, it almost made me believe it. I closed my eyes and just enjoyed this time that we had, being enraptured by the moment.

I am a wife, mother of two beautiful girlies, an avid reader, and a new Romance and New Adult author.

I was born and raised in Southern Indiana, but resided in Texas for five years while my husband was in the US Army. It was definitely a journey, but I am so glad to be back in my home state.

Whenever I’m not doing my motherly duties or at the soccer field I absolutely love to read whenever I have a moment to spare. My kindle is never far from my side.

My love of reading increased about a year ago and due to my love of books I decided to try my hand at writing. Already having a set of characters screaming to get out, my story took over and came to life.
