Forgotten Promises by Elle Brooks Blog Tour & Giveaway

Saying “I Promise” is the easiest thing to do, its just two tiny words.

No one warned me of the weight they hold, that they not only have the power

to make something, to give hope, or show devotion.

They can destroy everything, cause so much hurt, ruin lives.

Every promise holds a toll, if I had known what mine would cost me,

I would have walked away.

Now I have to pay the price, watch the consequences of my actions unfold. Witnessing someone I love crumble after breaking my oath

isn’t the hardest thing I’ve endured,

it’s being forgotten by the one person that I could never forget.

Josie's review

5 stars
Please note if you did not read the first book in this series Promises Hurt this review will have spoilers so you may want to look away now. Forgotten Promises picks up right where the first one ended. Blair, Ethan and Ethan’s father are badly hurt in a car accident. I want to say this author did an INCREDIBLE job with this second book. You can feel and see every emotion from each character in this book. I felt every single bit of pain, love, anger, remorse and frustration the author put in this book, and I loved it. I fell in love with Ethan and Blair while I had the pleasure of reading and reviewing the first one so I was very anxious to find out what was going to happen with their story.

Blair and Ethan’s relationship is strong and intense. You can really feel how much they truly love each other. They are both suffering after the accident and are in for another fight. Ethan wakes up from his coma with amnesia. He does not remember the past few months of his life. Which means he does not remember who Blair is. Blair has suffered from a broken spleen but is healing. Her concern and focus is on Ethan. She wants to see him and to know he is ok. When Ethan cannot remember her she is devastated, but being the tough girl that she is, she does not walk away from the love of her life.

I would say this book is more of Ethan’s story because he goes through so much in this book. Although he can’t remember who Blair is he can feel their connection and knows their relationship is special. The inner dialogue Ethan has with himself shows how much Blair’s presence affects him and for him that is the only thing that is pulling him through his nightmare.

“I kiss her like she should be kissed. The only message I intend to send is that I need this, just like I have to breathe. It’s not a question of wanting, it’s a necessity.”

“I may as well hand her my man car along with my balls, because she just breezed into the room looking like a goddamn porn star, and I can think is how much I want to cuddle. Just give me a moment please. I’m having an internal freak out. The “me” I thought I knew I should be trying to initiate getting back into your pants, but I seem to have grown a vagina and really just want to ask you for a hug!”

Ethan learns that his father was gravely hurt in the accident. In the first book we know that Ethan’s father physically abused him for years and the role he played in the accident. Ethan knows that he should feel sad about his father’s situation but he cannot seem to bring himself to feel sorrow. Ethan is still healing and there are things his mother Moira and doctors do not want Ethan to know. They don’t want him to suffer more stress. Against her better judgment, Blair agrees not to mention the truth Moira told Ethan days before the accident. Together Blair and Ethan find peace and understanding. They try to make sense of everything and move on despite the turmoil going on in Ethan’s life. For Ethan Blair’s presence is the only thing soothes him and makes him happy.

“Princess, you need to tell me to stop.”

“Please don’t stop.”

“I need to take care of you.”

“I need you inside me now, Ethan.”

I want you to promise that we are perfect, that what we have is real, and you feel it too; because I haven’t allowed anyone or anything into my life for so long, I’m kind of terrified that I’ll lose the way I’m feeling right now.”

“I promise.”

I love Ethan. My heart broke for him but I was happy he found love, acceptance and something worth holding on to with Blair. While reading this book my love for him just intensified. Even though he did not remember Blair, he loved her fiercely. He goes through an internal battle dealing with his father. Accepting that the abuse was not his fault. The author touches on domestic abuse and its damaging effects. It is raw but depicted wonderfully. Your heart will break but it will also rejoice when Ethan stands up to his father.

This was beautifully written and intense. You will cry, laugh and get angry but it was perfectly written. Will Ethan regain his memory? Will Ethan forgive Blair for keeping the truth from him or is their love strong enough to overcome the odds? Will Ethan forgive his father for years of abuse? I was excited to learn that Ethan and Blair will be getting another book in 2015. I can’t wait to see more of them and what is next for their future.

Josie's review

5 stars

Wow, I am completely blown away. This book was incredible! Absolutely brilliant! I was completely captivated by this story from beginning to end. There were so many times where I felt like I was getting kicked right in the gut by this dark, gritty and intense story. This story is told in three different POV’s, Lacey, Knox and Katia. To be clear all the characters have a story to tell. This is not a story for the faint at heart. A little warning: There are topics and situations that come up that some people might find disturbing and hard to read. I am a sucker for a dark read, so this book was right up my alley. You will question your sanity, your thoughts and even your heart while reading this book but the payout is so worth it.

Lacey is a high school senior. Her life is far from easy, her mother and brother do nothing to help her at all. If anything she is the one that takes care of them. The only thing Lacey wants is to save enough money to go away to medical school. The only way Lacey can make enough money to take care of her family, keep a roof over their heads, pay the light bill and save for college is by being a prostitute. She only has one friend in high school, Tyler and every now and then he helps her out, without judging. While she is tortured by everyone else. Lacey’s character is strong, selfless and caring. She knows her family does not treat her well but it is the only family she has, and she will do anything to keep them safe. Such is the case with her brother, Dante. Dante is constantly thinking of get rich schemes that always fall through the cracks. Lacey stumbles upon her brother getting brutally beaten and because he owes more money to the Russian, mob than Lacey can pay she offers her body over for payment. She will do anything to save her brother’s life. However, little does she know that the man she is dealing with is the devil.

“You’re leaving again?”

“I don’t really have much of a choice, trust me.”

“Do you have any idea who the fu*k that guy who brought mom back is?”

“Yeah, I was there the day you got your ass kicked so I know who he is. He’s the guy who bailed your ass out and in exchange demanded to screw me for it. Where the fu*k was all this concern the night I went to meet him? Where the fu*k were you when he snuck in here and took me away?? You want to call me a bitch when I have bigger balls than you do, Dante? Fu*king spare me!”

Knox is a hit man for the head of the mob. He was taken in at very early age and was raised as one of their own. Knox has very particular, dark and disturbing tastes. He loves the kill and shows no remorse for it. He also has very particular taste in women. He loves the pain, the blood and marks he leaves on his women. When he sees how easy Lacey is willing to give herself up to save her brother he develops an interest in her, an obsession of sorts. Knox sees Lacey as a challenge, a toy he can play with and break. He watches and studies her just like he does with his victims learning everything about her, until one night he decides to take her.

Lacey is terrified, but she knows she has a choice. She can leave Knox or let him go after her brother for his repayment. Knox terrifies her, he is upfront on what he wants to do to her, but there is something alluring and captivating about him and she finds herself desiring him sexually. Knox immediately starts to treat her differently than the other women he has brought to his vault but her tries to pushed it back, thinking it is because she is new. You can see and feel the difference in Knox’s presence when he’s with Lacey because he is more demanding and possessive.

“I’m going to carve my name into your skin so that when other men see it, they’ll know they’re trespassing on someone else’s property. If you ever let him touch you again, I swear I will kill him. I swear it, Lacey, I will fu*king kill him.”

Katia is the Russian Mafia King’s daughter. Let me just say this. She is one sick bitch! She is just as dark and crazy as Knox. She thinks that because they are adopted siblings that they are meant for each other.   She believes her father brought Knox home as a gift for her. She is his and he is hers so when she hears that Knox has a new toy that he is keeping around, she starts to make a plan. Katia is a very cold and calculated person. She wants to take over her father’s empire and is willing to do anything she can to get it, even kill her brother, Dmitry. Katia is so wrapped up in all her side adventures that she does not know just how deep Knox is with Lacey.

Knox, Lacey and Katia are all given some major WTF moments that left me on edge. I loved every single bit of this book and there is not one moment that I can think of where I’d change anything that went on. I loved getting to know each and every one of the characters. They are all tortured souls and have suffered because of other peoples mistakes. I cried so many times reading this book, my heart broke of Lacey but I also was so in aww of her fierceness and her loyalty to the only family she knows. I am still not sure about Knox. I really want to hate him but there is something about his character as we get to know him that touched me. Katia, forget it I have NOTHING NICE TO SAY ABOUT HER except –SLURRY TROLL BITCH!!! The author did such an amazing job with this book I seriously can’t wait to get my hands on the next book.

I’m not what you would call normal. The word has no meaning to me. But I’ve been pretending to act normal. It’s something I’ve been practicing since I’ve been aware of the thrum and its significance in my life. I was seven when I first heard the lullaby. Second grade, just before recess. It happened in a squall. Nothing and then all at once. I remember everything about that day. The bell rang and the other children went to play. Not me. Never me. I always stayed behind, mostly by choice, but never contested because the other children thought I was weird. I think maybe they unconsciously knew that I was lacking something fundamental. Something they all had and I didn’t, and maybe even never had at all. Whatever it was, I was alienated, excluded from their games. But I couldn’t say it bothered me. I was indifferent to it. Katia would sometimes play with me. Yuri’s youngest daughter, my adoptive sister, kept me company when she wasn’t with her own friends. But she’d been home sick that day.

In the small classroom with its oversized, rainbow-colored letters hanging over the chalkboard and tiled number blocks littering the carpeted floor, I sat in the beanbag chair staring fixatedly at the class pet. Sweet Ms. Devon always stayed with me but she’d left for a moment. A moment to heat her lunch. A moment to speak to a fellow staff member in the teachers’ lounge. But it’d been a moment too long for me. The noise in my head had been too loud. The urge too strong. The pink-eyed little rabbit, Mr. Apples, and the yellow pair of scissors sitting blades down in Ms. Devon’s “Best Teacher” mug had been too much of a temptation for me to resist.

The pounding of my heart. The lullaby and the thrum. The latch had given way beneath my shaking fingers, soaked with apprehension and anticipation. The struggle. The frantic movement of something living, something warm, with the same accelerated heartbeat as mine grappling for life. Desperate for freedom even while knowing the inevitable hand of death loomed was intoxicating. The thrill, the excitement, the sweet seductive power. I swam in it. Like too much candy on Halloween. Too much ice cream in the summer. It had been a quick death for Mr. Apples. It had been crude. Amateurish. But ever so effective in quieting the discord of my mind.

Poor, sweet Ms. Devon came to find me on the floor of the overly-bright classroom. Huddled on the floor, covered in Mr. Apples. She’d been one to smile a lot. But I stole her smile that day and replaced it with horror instead. Her pretty features contorted like a Kabuki mask.

Noah And Me by Beckie Stevenson Cover Reveal & Giveaway

RELEASE DATE:  15th December 2014

“So you fix broken hearts, do you?” I ask. “Seems a little ironic.”

Noah Carter is one of the best cardiothoracic doctors in the country. He’s incredibly intelligent, funny, kind and he’s a beast in the bedroom. He has scars that drizzle down his chest and painful memories of an unforgettable night that plague his every waking hour.

Seven years ago, Noah stumbled upon me at the side of a grave and saved me in one of the most compassionate ways another human being can save another.  I will always love him for that. Always.

He loved me in a way that no man has ever loved me since, and I gave him everything. I gave him it all until my secrets and lies tore us apart, forcing me to shatter his heart into a thousand little pieces.

Seven years ago he loved me, but now he hates me. And I hate that he hates me. Leaving Noah is my biggest regret in life – and I have a lot of things that I regret. A lot.

I’m Ariel Miller and this is the story of Noah and Me.

I glance around the corner of the small building and spot a woman who isn’t dressed like a smart teacher. She’s wearing white stilettoes and a tiny little black dress that just about covers her backside. Her breasts, which are definitely fake, protrude out from the scoop neckline of the dress. Her chocolate-coloured hair is poker straight and falls to her shoulder blades. I hear her giggling. I see her hand shoot out to touch a glistening, tanned and extremely toned forearm.

“That’s Candy,” whispers Ben.

“What does she do?” I ask. She arches her back and pushes her breasts out even further than they were before.

“She’s a Lawyer,” he tells me. “They call her the black widow.”

I glance at Ben and realise he’s not joking. I look back at Candy and hear her giggle again, watching as she flicks her hair over her shoulder. “Does she eat men after she’s slept with them?”

“No,” he says, shaking his head. “She eats them after she’s done with them in court instead.”

More like she hypnotises them with her breasts and hair flicking, I think. “I see,” I say.

“Her tongue is evil,” he says before adding, “and not in a good way.”

I grin at him.

“Anyway,” he says, pulling on my elbow, “we should go and say hello to the birthday boy.”

I take a step forward and then the earth stops moving as all of the blood in my body rushes to my ears. I can hear the beat of my own heart as it bangs against my chest. The birthday boy’s blue eyes collide with mine and they’re slowly turning to hard stone in front of me. He steps away from the wall, roughly pushing Candy off him, and marches towards me.

I can’t take my eyes off him. How can someone who is beyond beautiful look so ugly at the same time? His light brown hair is styled perfectly on his head as if he’s just got out of bed. Or maybe he has, if Candy’s performance was anything to go by. His pale, crystal-blue eyes display nothing of the thoughts that I have no doubt are obviously running through his mind. He’s wearing a dark grey shirt and black trousers. Even with his clothes on, I can tell that there’s a wall of pure muscle hiding underneath them. I see a faint smattering of chest hair poking out from the top of his shirt where his top button is undone. His face is tanned and freshly shaven.

“You!” he says, his deep voice wrapping around me like a warm blanket. His gaze shifts to my neck like lightning. His eyes linger for a fraction of a second on my necklace and I see a hint of astonishment flash across his face. Then it’s gone, replaced by the cold, screwed-up face that he had before.

I open my mouth but nothing comes out. Every single hair on my skin stands on end as his angry breath washes over my face. Air leaves my lungs and doesn’t come back in. How the fuck is he here? Of all the places in the entire world, how is he here?

I finally realise he’s still towering over me, looking as if he wants to strangle me. I take a deep breath. I can’t do this.

“Erm, do you two know each other?” asks Ben.

Ignoring Ben, I continue to stare at him. He stares at me. What could we possibly say to each other that would make any of it okay? I can’t be here. I can’t be near him. I need to leave.

“No,” he hisses, as his eyes trail all over me.

“I don’t know who this girl is,” he says.

I know it’s wrong to feel hurt that he called me a girl, but I do. I don’t want him looking at me like that either. Not when I feel so shitty about what I’m wearing. I wish I could cover myself up, but I don’t have enough clothes on to even start.

Ben blinks, looking confused. “Noah, this is Ariel. Ariel, this is the birthday boy, Noah.”

This isn’t Noah. This is a stranger that doesn’t know me anymore.

“I’m going,” I announce, tearing my gaze away from Noah. I look at Ben and feel myself beginning to panic. “Erm, I have to go.”

“You have to?” Ben questions.

I nod quickly and start to back away from them. “I have to go. Right now. I have a horrible headache. Here,” I say, pushing my glass into Ben’s hand, “take this. And I’m sorry.”

“Ariel,” Ben calls as I turn to leave.

“Let her go,” Noah says. “She wasn’t invited and she’s not welcome.”

Josie's review

4 stars

I am a sucker for second chance love stories especially when the men are not afraid to wear their hearts on their sleeves. The author did a great job with the characters and plot. We get a little bit of everything. Betrayal, mystery, secrets, sex and danger. The author did not leave anything out. Love Repeated started and ended with a bang and ends with a bang.

Ten years ago Ronnie and Kyle looked forward to spending summers together. They were in love and crazy for each other. Kyle wanted to spend the rest of his life with Ronnie and was going to propose. Ronnie wanted more in life and knew she could not give Kyle the life he wanted. So she walked away giving him the chance to find a love that wanted the same life as he did. Fat forward ten years to the present and Kyle finds himself looking at the girl that broke his heart. The woman that he has never forgotten.

Kyle had thought he got over Ronnie but seeing her in the bar, looking like he’d picture her in his dreams, he knew she was still apart of him. All Kyle wanted to do was stay away from her and not prove that she was right all along. That he had done nothing with his life. He was in debt, struggling, no wife and no plan for any future. With one look of the bruise on Ronnie’s face he knew he wanted to help her and hurt the person that caused her pain.

“What happened?”

Armed robbery?”

“Don’t bother lying to be, Ronnie. I know you too well. What happened?”

“You’re not the boy I once I loved, nor am I the same girl.”

“Bullshit, Ronnie. I might I’ve changed, but not when it comes to your safety. You know I’d take on the damn world to protect you. Doesn’t matter if we’re lovers, friends, or strangers.”

Ronnie is going through so much. Her father passed away and her mother was murdered at an armed robbery at the art gallery they worked at. Since her mother’s murder, Ronnie found some letters and one of them asked her to take some pictures to hers father house. The last thing Ronnie wanted was to run into Kyle, the only man she has loved. Ronnie tries to put on a front and show that she is ok and over him but when she finds out that he never married, she starts to wonder if walking away from him was for nothing. She expected to see him living a happy fulfilling life but that wasn’t the case. Ronnie is also dealing with a secret she found out about her mother. This secret has caused her to second guess everything she has ever known. The only thing she knows for certain is that she is still in love with Kyle and there has never been another man like him that made her feel what he does in the last ten years.

The chemistry, love, passion and tension between Ronnie and Kyle is undeniable. Kyle thinks if he can just have one night with Ronnie he will be able to move on. The problem is with that one night comes the realization that he has never nor will ever get over her. Ronnie finds herself struggling with her feelings for Kyle. Her mind says no but her body craves him and she feels safe and comfortable with him.

“I’m going to bend you over your car, life your skirt and fu*k you, Ronnie. If you have some guy that’s going to hunt me down for making you come all over my di*k, tell me now.”

“I was right about you, Kyle Sander. You’re naughty.”

Ronnie is in town for a week, all Kyle has to do is remind her just how good they are together and for her to admit she still loves him. She is afraid to let Kyle back in. She has so much going and the secret her mother reveals is slowly killing her.

“I have no intention of replacing you.”

“I’m not letting you go this time, Ronnie. We’re going to figure this out how to make this work between us.”

Kyle and Ronnie’s characters were very well developed. Getting both their POVs showed just how connected and committed they were to one another. The author shows us even after all that time, space and distance true love has no barriers. That with communication and willingness anything is possible. I really fell in love with Kyle. He was confident and secure in his feelings with Ronnie and he wasn’t afraid to push her limits. Ronnie at first seemed cold but she opened up about her past and her relationship with Kyle. I learned that there was so much more to her and her love for Kyle was sincere. Ronnie knows she loves him but she needed him to push her limits and show her that together they can accomplish anything.

This was a very quick read but I definitely enjoyed this.

About the Author

NancyCorriganLogoSmallforWebA true romantic at heart, Nancy Corrigan is convinced there’s a knight in shining armor for every woman (or man), but you won’t find damsels in distress in her stories. She adores pairing alpha heroes with woman strong enough to match them and bring them to their knees. She also enjoys flipping the traditional roles in romances because her motto is—love and people should never be forced to conform to anyone’s norm.

She holds a degree in chemistry and has worked in research but now focuses on ensuring quality. She considers it the perfect outlet for her as she’s the first to admit she has some OCD tendencies. It carries over into her writing life too. While engrossed in a novel, she has a habit of forgetting to eat and sleep. Fortunately, she’s married to her own knight in shining armor who understands her oddities and loves her anyway. They reside in Pennsylvania with their three children, dog, snake and guinea pigs. Her other interests include tattoos, animals, classic cars and all things spooky and sexy.

Behind Your Back by Chelsea M. Cameron Cover Reveal

Add the book to GOODREADS.

This past summer I traveled to Edinburgh, Scotland for a book signing. It was my first trip outside of the US and I was nervous as hell. While I was on the plane and begging for my motion sickness medication to kick in, I started thinking about a character I didn’t “know” yet. Every now and then I will get a character’s voice in my head and not have a story for them. More often than not, my books start with just one character. I don’t know where the story is going, or what they’re going to do. I only have their voice guiding me. I told myself I wasn’t going to work on anything new on my trip, since I already had existing deadlines. But of course the voice ignored me. He kept talking to me. I couldn’t resist, so I started working on his story in my gorgeous hotel room with its view of Edinburgh castle. I wrote some more words at the Elephant House, which is where J. K. Rowling started writing the first Harry Potter book. Over vegetable lasagna and jasmine tea, a story started to develop. It was different than anything I’d ever written. Told completely from a male point of view. It was also a romantic suspense, something I’d been dying to try writing, but didn’t think I had the ability to do. I called my mother in my excitement and her words were “that’s completely different than anything you’ve ever written.” This is that story. And since this story is so completely different, I’m doing something different when I release it. In February (date to be determined), you will not only get the first book on that day, Behind Your Back, you will also be able to buy the sequel, Back To Back! No weeks or months of waiting to find out what happens. You can read the two books in one day if you want. Instant gratification. I hope you fall in love with these books as much as I have while writing them.

She wears a wig and colored contacts the first time I see her in person. Her electric green eyes are too memorable, even in a crowd. But underneath the plain brown wig and the brown contacts and the bored expression she wears, something shines through that she can’t cover up.

I recognize it right away, even if I wouldn’t have been searching for her. Raising myself from my chair, I cross the coffee shop. She watches her phone, pretending to be the kind of girl who can’t abandon her Facebook page for longer than three seconds. But I know. I know her.

Her finger hovers over the screen of the phone, her shoulders slump, but her foot jiggles just a little bit. Not enough for anyone but me to notice. But I see it. I see her.

I pass by her table on my way out the door. I give her one glance. A visual brush over her body. I know she sees me, but pretends not to. She pushes the wig back and I can just barely see the flash of red hair at the nape of her neck, along with a tattoo. I can’t see all of it, but I don’t need to. I know that, too.

A Celtic knot.

I pass through the door and don’t look back. Her eyes follow me down the street to the crosswalk and until I’m out of view.

She sees me.

The Journey Home by Kelly Elliot Release Day Launch

Fate has a way of stepping in and righting itself when we least expect it.Maddison Powers has been regretting the biggest mistake of her life when she walked away from the only man who has ever sparked something deep inside her. After comparing every guy she dates to Cale Blackwood, she finally gives up all hope of ever finding him.

One dare by Maddison throws Cale back into her life…and into the arms of her best friend.

Cale Blackwood thought he had found the woman of his dreams, until she walked away from him one night and didn’t look back. Attempting to find love again, Cale finds himself in a relationship built on one lie after another. Forced to take on the biggest challenge of his life, Cale must seek help from the woman who walked away from him and broke his heart.

Sometimes it takes more than one journey in life to truly be home.

Maddie’s POV
“Cale, you need to go home.”
He closed his eyes and shook his head. “You’re doing it again. You’re pushing me away. I’m tired of it, Maddie. I’m so tired of it.”
I swallowed hard and turned to find my phone. I needed Jack to come pick up Cale.
I was about to dial my phone when Cale grabbed me. He turned me around and backed me up until I hit the living room wall.
His eyes were filled with lust. That look had my panties soaked in seconds.
He lifted up my dress and, in one quick movement, he ripped my panties from my body. I wanted to cry out yes. I wanted to let him take me, but I couldn’t.
“Cale,” I said. “Don’t do this.”
He kissed my neck and I started to give in. When his hand touched my inner thigh, I startled. His lips moved to mine and I moaned, desperately, into his mouth as he lifted my leg.
“Oh God,” I whispered. I tried to come to my senses. “Cale, please don’t do this. We can’t do this.”
He moved his lips to my jaw line as he kissed around to my ear. “Are you turned on by me? Or by him?”
The moment he asked, I felt like a whore. I dropped my leg and pushed him back.
I wiped the tears from my eyes.
“Jesus. I didn’t mean that Maddie. I just—”
“Get out,” I said. “Get out of my house and don’t you dare set foot near me again. I hate you, Cale.”
