Riding It Out by Jennifer Foor Blog Tour

One woman

One man

An empty bed and breakfast

A summer storm

One night they’ll never forget – so they thought…

When my aunt passed away and left me her dilapidated bed and breakfast it was all so surreal. I hadn’t been back to that beach in many years, and the idea of revisiting left me sad and vulnerable.

I never planned on having guests. In fact, I just wanted to close up the place and sell it, so that I could move on with my life.

Then the storm happened.

Taken by surprise, I planned on waiting for it to pass. The house creaked and the power went out. That’s when someone knocked on the door.

He was a stranger, dripping wet, cold, and looking for shelter. I couldn’t turn him away…

What happened next between us opened new doors, changing everything I thought I wanted for myself.

The only question is if I can trust him, or will his secrets destroy it all?

Erica thought she was happy with her life. She was single and wasn’t looking for love at the moment because she was always wrapped up with her job. However, a wrench is thrown in her plans when she finds out that she has inherited her aunt’s Bed and Breakfast. She assumes she’ll just sell it because she’s a city girl and has no time to be by the beach and run it.

The day Erica takes ownership of the B&B a storm blows into town and with that storm also blows in Reed. Reed shows up to the B&B needing a place to stay for the night. At first, Erica is scared that he could be dangerous but she knows she can’t put him out in the storm either. After awhile she opens up to him and that one night turns into a night she’ll never forget.

As the story continues, we find out Reed is hiding a pretty big secret. If Erica finds out it could change everything and not for the better. When a mystery woman and child show up to the B&B, it’s only a matter of time before his secret is revealed. Question is…will Erica stick around?

The first half of this book is told in Erica’s POV and the second half is in Reed’s. The first half we got to see Erica and Reed connect but I really enjoyed the second half more. My only issue is that it started to get really good and then it was over. It was all tied up pretty quickly and I honestly wish it was longer.

One Dom To Love by Shayla Black, Jenna Jacob, & Isabella LaPearl Blog Tour & Giveaway

Raine Kendall has been in love with her boss, Macen Hammerman, for years. Determined to make the man notice that she’s a grown woman with desires and needs, she pours out her heart and offers her body to him—only to be crushingly rejected. But when his friend, very single, very sexy Liam O’Neill watches the other Dom refuse to act on his obvious feelings for Raine, he resolves to step in and do whatever it takes to help Hammer find happiness again, even rousing his friend’s possessive instincts by making the girl a proposition too tempting to refuse. But he never imagines that he’ll end up falling for her himself.

Hammer has buried his lust for Raine for years. After rescuing the budding runaway from an alley behind his exclusive BDSM Dungeon, he has come to covet the pretty submissive. But tragedy has taught him that he can never be what she needs. So he watches over her while struggling to keep his distance. Liam’s crafty plan blindsides Hammer, especially when he sees how determined his friend is to possess Raine for his own. Hammer isn’t ready to give the lovely submissive over to any other Dom, but can he heal from his past and fight for her? Or will he lose Raine if she truly gives herself—heart, body, and soul—to Liam?

Josie's review

4.5 stars

I love Shayla Black, I have read all 8 of the Wicked Lover Series, 6 of the Masters of Ménage Series and 3 of the Doomsday Brethren Series. She knows how to write sex also knows how to add angst, passion and excitement into a story. When I saw she was going to co-author One Dome to Love, I just had to have it.

One Dom To Love was an amazing read, and the writing was flawless. After I read the first page I was hooked and I could not put the book down. The characters are complex, intriguing and believable. I found myself wanting to know more and more about them. We are given three POV’s in this story and it just added more to the complexity of this story. I wasn’t prepared to meet and fall in love with these three amazing characters and each of their stories and fight. One Dom To Love is a story about Raine, Hammer and Liam.

Raine is a very complex and troubled character. She has very low self-esteem and is known for running when things get bad. Throughout the story Raines’ character evolves from someone that is helpless and needy to a woman who will not settle for less in her life. She becomes a woman who wants to be wanted, loved and cherished. Although she has a degree, she works at The Dungeon cleaning up the club and baking for the owner. Hammer rescued Raine from the alley behind the Dungeon years ago and has taken care of her. Raine has been in love with him but he treats her like she is a child.

Hammer’s character, is one that will make you scream and pull your hair out. He is the owner of the Dungeon and lives there along with Raine and other employees. Tragedy years ago changed him into the man he is today. He lives his life without love but he enjoys occasional sexual encounters with different submissives at the club. His needs are specific and demanding. He believes Raine is not capable of having the kind of dom/sub relationship that he’s looking for. He pushes Raine away every chance he gets but it is not because he doesn’t love her. He doesn’t feel like he is any good for her.

Liam has been Hammer’s best friend for years but has watched Hammer live with the guilt of his past and his neglect for Raine. Hammer pushing Raine away only ends up pushing her right into Liam’s arms. I can’t even tell you how much I fell in love with Liam (I have decided to go to Ireland). Liam thought by being there and nurturing Raine, Hammer would wake up and fight for her. The problem was, after one encounter with Raine and having her in his arms he falls in love with her. Since Hammer has no problem pushing Raine away Liam decides he’s going to collar the Lass and make her his.

Hammer is not prepared when he sees Raine in Liam’s arms and although he does not want a relationship with her he doesn’t want her with anyone else. Raine is caught between the two dominant men. Hammer the man she had loved for nearly 6 years and Liam the man who is ready to claim her as his.

There are some pretty steamy, erotic and hot scenes in this book. I swear to God these authors left me panting. The BDSM’s scenes were not over-done and did not make me cringe, in fact I wanted more! You will scream with things that go on between Hammer and Raine. You can feel the tension and love with them but Hammer made things so hard. Liam and Hammer’s relationship is put to the test because unlike Hammer, Liam knows what he wants and he is not afraid to risk it all for Raine. Who will Raine choose? Will Liam win Raine’s trust and heart? Will Raine wear Liam’s collar? Will Hammer finally go after Raine or will he loose her to his best friend Liam? Let me tell you, when I got to the end I needed more. I was so happy to see that the second book is out, and you can bet your butt I one-clicked that puppy.

Her husband, daughter, and unborn baby. . . all gone in a flash. The life that she’d come to know, gone before she ever really got to live it.

It’s there that she finds herself healing along with the horses her family rehabilitates. But when Parker McKenzie comes back into her life she’s reminded of all that went wrong, and all that she lost.

Will Katie ever begin to heal? Or will her secrets and loss be too much for her to overcome?

Perhaps, this is her kismet.

Beth's Review
3.5 stars

I must start off by saying that I did enjoy reading Kismet but at the same time I am torn with how to review it. It is an emotional and tragic story about fate, destiny and second chances that had me in tears so many times.

Katie is a young woman who’s life has not always easy. As a child she had many issues and it was the love of her brother and his best friend Parker that got her through it all. But as they grew older, the relationship between Katie and Parker grew to be more than just friends, they were in love but as Katie was getting ready to go off to college Parker ended it. Katie took off and left home never to return. She started over with Michael and their daughter Zoe and they were expecting their second child when a tragedy took all three of them away from Katie. But how do you go on when your whole world disappears.

Katie’s parents and her brother do the only thing they know how to do in order to help Katie heal, they take her home back to their farm. Katie though is not the only one that needs to heal, Parker is still hurting since the moment he let her go and together these two slowly heal the hurts form the past as well as the hurts from the present.

I must say, although we didn’t really see Michael, I absolutely loved him. He was such a selfless person. He loved Katie even though he knew Katie’s secret and knew that her heart was with someone else. He loved her enough for both of them and my heart truly hurt for him.

I did enjoy this book, it was a really good read that was very emotional. For me, it was that book that let me have that really good cry that you sometimes just need. This book pulled me in right from the start and for the first 60% I truly could not put it down but I found as the book hit the half way mark, for me it began to feel very predictable and repetitive.  Also, I found myself not feeling comfortable with how quick she seem to heal all of a sudden from such a tragedy and how soon she moved on with Parker.  She always loved him, but for how much she loved Michael and for how distraught she was over losing her family, it just seemed to all happen too quickly and too soon after the accident, 6 months was just not enough time for her to move on and have things play out as they did.  Also I found that as the book went on, it became the same back and forth game between Katie and Parker and started to feel drawn out and falling a bit flat for me. And last as things started to come to light, the book and it’s ending became more and more predictable and found myself really disappointed but also not shocked with how the story ended. Overall it was a really good story, it just left me a bit disappointed and torn about how I truly felt about it. It was a book I absolutely loved from the moment I started but found myself loving it less and less right until the very end.

Turning the corner from the hallway into the kitchen, I find my family talking to someone. It doesn’t matter that his back is turned to me because I would recognize that frame anywhere. Frozen in my space in the doorway, my breath hitches and my heart jumps to my throat, causing me to choke. I know without a doubt that the person standing there is Tommy’s lifelong best friend, Parker McKenzie.

“Hey, sis, look who came by to say hi!” Tommy smiles. It’s not a genuine smile, it’s his smug smile—the one he uses when he’s done something sneaky. In an instant, I know, without a doubt, that he’s done this on purpose and I want nothing more than to punch him in the face for it. I consider jumping across the kitchen and grabbing him by the throat, but I decide that the action would be too full of emotion. So instead I stew on my anger, filing it deep down within me for some other time.

Parker turns his attention toward me, looking over his shoulder in my direction. The minute his eyes catch mine my heart stops beating. I wasn’t ready to see him. Not yet, probably not ever in fact. He’s already smiling, the same earth shattering grin that I’ve seen a million times before. He looks just like I remember him, only older. He was a kid the last time I saw him, but now that boy had turned into a man, a five o’clock shadow in place of his previous baby face.

“Hey, Katie.” He stands from the kitchen table and with two easy strides he’s hugging me, his arms enveloping me just as though no time has passed.

My own arms hang at my sides, my heart palpating from the sudden contact. My breath hitches with unease. If I could claw at my skin, I would, but my arms are still pinned to my sides, Parker holding them firmly into place. I watch helplessly as Tommy taps him on the back, indicating that it’s too much.

Suddenly realizing that he’s made a mistake he mutters, “Sorry,” and he lets me go. I close my eyes and rub my arms, attempting to cleanse my skin from his touch. It isn’t right. It isn’t fair. That hug wasn’t his to take.

Seething, I look up at him. I know Parker means well, he always means well, but he never did have much sense when it came to personal boundaries. And what was he sorry for? Sorry for hugging me? Sorry for my loss? Sorry for coming here? He should be sorry, sorry for it all. I fight the urge to reach out and slap him for being such an inconsiderate bastard. But I don’t.

I fume silently to myself. He has no right to show up here today, let alone be the first one to touch me like that. My own family haven’t felt comfortable enough to hug me yet. The most contact I’ve had is holding Tommy’s hand, and he’s my brother.

The room fills with uncomfortable silence. I know that everyone is waiting to see my next move, but there won’t be one. I refuse to react.

In the prequel to Just Destiny, we are treated to the story behind the story.

You can see my review for Just Destiny Here

Finding out how Jenny and Gabe meet and fall in love. We get to follow their lives leading up to their mini getaway that changed it all.

I loved the fact that we got more insight into Gabe’s past and what made him take the path to become a doctor, and how much he fell in love with Jenny.

I loved seeing their relationship blossom and the passion that Gabe and Jenny had for each other.

Overall, I enjoyed the book, it was a super quick read that I finished in a few hours. I’m normally not a fan of prequels unless of course I read them first, but having read this months after Just Destiny brought me right back. I really enjoyed it.

I would recommend both books in this series. They are great reads.

Idle Bloom by Jewel E. Ann ** Tara’s Review **

“What lies beneath my veiled perfection is the ugly truth—my truth, my reality, my destiny.”

Vivian Graham has an acceptance letter into Harvard, a badass tattoo, loyal friends, ties to marijuana, a penchant for Dunkin’ Donuts, and her pesky V-card.

Everyday she takes the Red Line to her job at The Green Pot in Boston while her friends enter the coveted, black iron gates to higher learning. The ramifications from a tragic accident have put her life on hold while time marches on for everyone around her.

After graduating from Harvard Law, Boston native, Oliver Konrad, moves to Portland to start his career and his life. Three years later, after a horrific discovery, he returns home to trade in his three-piece suit for leather work boots and his suburban home for a condo in Cambridge.

All he brought back to the East Coast was an aversion to pillows and secrets he keeps hidden behind a mysterious locked door. Oliver’s days are predictable and his nights are lonely until he meets Vivian on the subway. Her long raven hair, green eyes, and mile-long legs are achingly sexy, but the way she “innocently” fingers and licks her Boston Kreme doughnut can only be described in two words—complete torture.

When their paths cross at every turn, laughter is abundant, friendship is easy, and love is unintentional. However, their future seems improbable.

News flash: This book is AWESOME

Vivian Graham and Oliver Konrad ride the same train to work each day. Vivian has been eying Oliver for a solid week, fantasizing about what he looks like under his tight t-shirts and jeans.

“My infatuation will go no further than basking in his sexy aura and taking mental pictures to use for my own pleasure.”-Vivian

When a Boston Kreme slams these two together, the dance begins. When Oliver shows up at the garden center she works at, fate jumps in and pushes these two together. Both Vivian and Oliver are hiding secrets, Oli’s secret just might be too much for Vivian to handle.

“Lost. I’m lost in this moment. I’m lost in every moment, floudering around as one day blurs into the next.” – Oliver

Hiding behind the secrets of her past, Vivian’s scars make it hard for her to fully open up and let anyone in. Starting things with Oliver, whose own past leaves him broken, proves to be harder then anything her past has handed her. The pull of his lips, his sweet words, and her strong desire to make him hole are too strong, and draws her right into his arms, secrets and all.

“I see my perfection in his eyes.”

That may seem like a simple enough sentence but the emotion behind this book could easily be summed up with those few words.

I absolutely adored this book, everything about it. I have had the pleasure of reading all of Jewel’s books, and loved them all, but the storyline and beautiful writing in Idle Bloom moved its way right into my top 5 reads of 2014! The characters are so easy to love, and relate to. The heartbreak of their pasts will invoke so many emotions in you. The tenderness of their love will have you swooning.

“She melts into me as I tease my tongue over the seam of her lips.”

The sex, well HOT is really the only way to describe it. Fantasies definitely come to reality for these two. The thing I love with Jewel’s books, is it is never too much, it’s always just enough.

“Keeping his eyes on mine, his entire mouth covers my sex and his tongue doesn’t stop until I feel completely…satisfied.”

This is definitely one of those books that will keep you guessing which makes it hard to put down, because you just have to know. The build up to each of their revelations had my heart beating a little faster, I just could not wait to find out how things would all play out.

Let me just say, I love an Epilogue, I feel every book should have one. I adored how things played out for every single character in this book.

Grab this book, and while you are at it, grab all of Jewel’s other book, they are all phenomenal.

“I wanted her last breath.”

Idle Bloom teaser

“I don’t need panties.”

“I disagree,” he says with his back to me as he signs for the purchase at the counter. He takes the bag in one hand and grabs my hand with his other. “Shall we?” He leads me out of the store.

“A, I have plenty of panties. B, I told you I don’t wear them sometimes because it makes me feel sexy.”

He opens my door and sets the bag by my feet after I get in. Then he leans down and brings his face a breath away from mine as his hand slides up my leg. His thumb eases past my shorts. He stops and shakes his head as the pad of it meets my bare sex, no underwear.

My face contorts into a grimacing smile as my shoulders rise into a guilty shrug. He presses his thumb to my now wet center. My mouth relaxes as I suck in a breath and try to close the distance between our lips. He moves his head back just enough to deny me. He grins then moves his thumb a little higher. I moan as he rubs slow circles.

“How do you feel?” he whispers.

“G–good.” I grip the side of the seat and let my head fall back.

“What else?”

“Turned … on.” I close my eyes.

“What else?”

I tilt my hips up as he works me up so high I fear my own reaction to the impending fall.

“Oli …”

He speeds up, pressing his lips to my neck, and when his teeth graze over my sensitive skin I lose it.

“What. Else?” he whispers in my ear as the blinding sensation rips through me.

“Sexy … I feel … sexy.” I try to catch my breath while my head’s still spinning.

He kisses me hard then shuts my door.

I hate that I have no self-control to deny him giving me an orgasm while parked with the door open on a public street. Now he’s sporting a ridiculously smug grin as he pulls out into traffic.

“What was the point of that?” I break the silence.

“I wanted to prove that I make you feel sexy. Now that you know that, you can start wearing underwear.”

“What does it matter if no one else can see that I’m not wearing underwear?”

“First, some of the dresses you wear are awfully short. Second, I know you’re not wearing underwear and I don’t like walking around saluting everyone I pass.”

He shoots me a you-know-what-I-mean look.

“Whatever, you’re just being weird.”

“I’m being a guy.”

“That’s what I said. You’re being weird.”

“Just as a rose is unable to change its color, it isn’t possible for us to alter the past. It’s only once you realize this that you’ll be set free.”

When Stella Bleu Lawrence was 7 years old she witnessed something a child should never have too. It’s now 18 years later and Bleu MacAllister is ready to avenge her mother’s death. She’s been training for years through her adoptive father on how to kill a man in cold blood and even has FBI training. She heads over to Scotland to slowly make her way into the murderer’s life by getting close to his son, Sin.

“I’m a predator and Sin is my prey. And I’m gonna get ‘im good.”

Sinclair is in training to take over his father’s lead role in The Fellowship. When he first sees their bar has hired an American lass he’s skeptical on why she’s there. They never let outsiders in and he knows this could be a big problem for The Fellowship. He decides to investigate her to find out anything he can about her. Thankfully, Bleu has covered her tracks well and she comes up clean.

“You live up to your name very well.”

“Aye, as I should. My sins are very well practiced.”

Sinclair is taken with Bleu pretty much from the first time he lays eyes on her so it wasn’t hard for Bleu to worm her way into his life. Despite her father’s warnings, Bleu knows the only way to get close to Sin is to end up in his bed. It’s the only way he will truly open up and trust her.

“I knew there was a possibility I might have to get into bed with the enemy, but I had no idea I’d be this electrified by doing so. It makes me feel dirty. But I like it. And I shouldn’t.”

However, this is where the Bleu slowly loses her way on the path she was on.

“The one person I hate most in this world brought me to the one I love most. Who could have possibly imagined that?”

Now that Bleu has let her guard down and Sin in, will she still be able to follow through with her original plan? What happens if Sin and The Fellowship find out why she is really there? Will she be able to make it out alive?

“We’re going to be volatile. We should prepare now for this to end badly.”

“We’re damned from the start.”

Starting this book you know it’s inevitable that Bleu and Sin will fall in love, it’s just a matter of when. I just feel like it happened a little to fast. It seems like as soon as she had sex with him she just got wrapped up in being with him. Yes it’s understandable because she’s been so wrapped up in revenge that she never had time for a relationship. But for that reason alone I feel like it should’ve taken her a little longer to let her guard down.

“I think I may have met the perfect woman. In her eyes, I’m not a monster at all.”

As for Sinclair, I feel like he fell for her a little to fast as well. He’s hiding a pretty big secret that his enemies can never find out and yet he has no problem letting Bleu know. Now yeah we could just say he was a horny man who wanted her badly but it was definitely more than that.

“Into me…you see.”

See that little phrase above? Very clever Georgia! I absolutely love it! Even though I felt like their love was rushed, I couldn’t help but fall in love with them as a couple. They could have an epic love, if it was in the cards for them. The way these two care for each other is so sweet. Sin will literally do ANYTHING for her. But with Sin’s uncle in the way (I don’t trust that man AT ALL), The Fellowship and Bleu’s original plan…life is definitely going to get rough for them before it gets better. And by the end of book one you will keep trying to swipe your Kindle in hopes that Georgia really did NOT just end the book this way! But YUP she did!! February cannot get here any faster!

“A necessary sin. That’s what tonight is.”

ANS Teaser Chameleon

Sinclair Breckenridge’s POV:

“I’m in the business of boundaries and limits. I’m aware of what mine are and how far I’m willing to go to get my job accomplished. It can include lying and sometimes stealing.” I wait a moment for driving the last nail into the coffin. “And perhaps the occasional killing.”

“How do you feel when you do those things?”

“Powerful.” I purposely choose that word because it’s the one she used to describe how she felt when she brought Duff to his knees. I want her to see just how similar we are.

She watches out the window for a minute before speaking again. “Do you like the way it feels?”

I can’t lie. I get a high from it. “Very much.”

Another minute passes. “Okay.”

What? “Just … okay?”

“Would you like me to be horrified?” she asks. “I can do that if it would make you feel better or improve your opinion of me.”

She’s no fucking Pollyanna. So I guess there’s no reason for her to pretend to be. “No. Okay works for me.”

I’m not sure if I should be disturbed by her lack of appall. It feels like a double standard to be shocked by an absence of dismay.

My God, has the pot met the kettle? “I wish I could get inside your head.”

“No, you don’t,” she says. “My mind is a dark place to be.”

I think I may have met the perfect woman. In her eyes, I’m not a monster at all.

Bad Romeo (Starcrossed #1) by Leisa Rayven **Jodie’s Review**

When Cassie Taylor met Ethan Holt at acting school, sparks flew. She was the good girl actress. He was the bad boy about campus. But one fated casting choice for Romeo and Juliet changed it all. Like the characters they were playing, Cassie and Ethan’s romance seemed destined. Until he broke her heart and betrayed her trust. Now the A-list heartthrob is back in her life and turning her world around. One touch at a time.

Cast as romantic leads once again, they’re forced to confront raw memories of the heartbreaking lows and pulse-pounding highs of their secret college affair. But they’ll also discover that people who rub each other the wrong way often make the best sparks

“I swear on the Almighty God of Justifiable Homicide, I’m going to murder him with my bare hands.”

So in my case it is not a him, it’s a her and I swear to you if I ever get the chance to meet Leisa she is going to hear all about how we are not friends, in fact we can’t even be friends until she makes book 2 appear in my kindle.  I have never tried to will my kindle to produce pages as much as I did with this book.  I have never then decided that I hated my kindle because it couldn’t give me the goods and therefore I broke up with it   Which leaves to my dilemma rating this book.

“Joy, shock, lust, love, regret, elation.”

And I can promise you will feel all those emotions and more.  But I have to tell you this book really set me off.  REALLY SET ME OFF!!!  First let me explain my first opinion of Ethan Holt.

“He’s an asshole.”

“Holt is captivating.  Like a rare, exotic panther; equal parts beauty and power.  Enigmatic without even trying.”

Honestly as much as I wanted to smack him I fell in love with him, heart and soul. WTF?!?!

“If and when he finally gets up the courage to be with me.  I’m all in.  Hell, I’m all in already.”

So that happened and somehow I am waiting on a marriage proposal from him and just mind your business and let us move on.  Cassie on the other hand I didn’t love her she made me want to scream GROW UP, Kick him in the balls.  No wait grab him by the balls and just stop letting him treat you like this!!  GOODNESS she frustrated me.

Seriously though I am all about angst, in fact, I LOVE IT but this one made me want to break things, I was stabby and outta control with my emotions.   At the beginning I was all in with this story and then somewhere around 30 -35% I started to find myself getting lost and wanting to end the flashbacks.  I found myself getting confused at parts, was I in the present, the past, I don’t know where the hell was I?!   But then Leisa did something that makes me want to give her a standing O because that last 20% was like a punch to my face.   She had me hook, line, whatever else you want to add in here because I was so into this ending I could barely breathe.  THEN SHE F’ING JUST STOPPED, SERIOUSLY I WAS ALL OMG HERE WE GO, WIPING TEARS, TRYING TO STOP BUTTERFLIES FROM FLYING OUTTA MOUTH AND THE BOOK FREAKING ENDED!!!   I know what you are thinking Jodie it’s the first book in the series you knew a cliff was coming but no, no this was not a cliff.  This was the mother of cliffs.  Actually I am still convinced my book is missing twenty pages and they are going to appear eventually.  Even as I write this I am still sitting her trying to get my kindle to go to the next page.  LEISA I AM MISSING PAGES AND I WOULD LIKE THEM IN MY INBOX IMMEDIATELY DON’T WORRY I WILL WAIT….  BOTTOM LINE BAD ROMEO ….

“He’s so deep in me, he’s tattooed himself on every nerve ending.  Pleasure and pain and gasping perfection.”

Writing has always been a passion for Leisa, and even though she originally intended to be an actress, it wasn’t long into her time at drama school that she began writing plays.

Those plays were bad. Very bad. Well, her friends thought they were good, but that’s because they were always cast in them and any opportunity to be on stage was met with an obnoxious amount of enthusiasm.

Since then, she’s honed her craft, and several of her plays have been produced and toured throughout Australia.

These days, playwriting has given way to fiction writing, and Leisa’s debut novel, BAD ROMEO, will be available in a worldwide release through Macmillan Publishing in December 2014.

Leisa lives in Australia with her husband, two little boys, three cats, and a kangaroo named Howard.

(Howard may or may not be her imaginary marsupial friend. Everyone should have one.)

Around The Bend by Britney King Blog Tour & Giveway

Around the Bend BT

If you were to pass me on the street, you probably wouldn’t even look twice. I’m that normal. I’m just like you, only wealthier. I have it all. The kids, the family, the dog, a house on the hill. Hell—I’m so cliché, I even have a white picket fence. I guess you could say that I’ve dotted my I’s and crossed my T’s. But what I also have—what no one sees in yoga, or at Nieman Marcus, or during the dreadful Ladies Who Lunch charity events I attend (because only God knows why), and perhaps most importantly, in the school pick up line—are secrets.

Deep, dark, deadly secrets.

We all keep secrets, don’t we? We all have thoughts in our heads, things we do, things about us that if people knew, they’d be shocked…right? Well, what if one day we just decided to let the cat out of the bag, so to speak.

What if we decided to let the whole world in on our dirty little secrets? And what if along the way, as we were spilling those secrets, we realized that things aren’t always what they seem and with that knowledge, it changed the whole story?

In this book, I’m laying it all out there. The unraveling of my life. My coming undone. What one might’ve seen had they been paying attention.

What I’ve found in life is people often believe lies before they’ll believe the truth. Well, here it is, in a nutshell. I’ll let you decide which is which.

Did you ever read a book and you think you have it all figured out and know just how it is going to end? Yeah, I thought so too reading this book but let me tell you I was wrong. This book took me on one hell of an emotional journey that had me literally screaming at my kindle when I got to the end. This story is raw and will eat at you for days after you finish reading it.

This story is about Jess. A woman that life seemed perfect until one night her world was turned upside down. I wanted Jess to finally get her HEA. Christ after everything she went through she deserved it. The thing is sometimes life is not all rainbows and unicorns. Sometimes you have to fight like hell to make things happen and even than life can throw you a big F U.

“The great lesson of Myles for Jess would always be that sometimes people come into our lives for reasons we may not understand at the time, but that these people end up changing the course of our lives- forever and for the better.”

The two main characters in this story are Jess and Myles. Myles comes into her life after a tragic accident when Jess’s life is a wreck. Jess feels she has nothing left to live for. Myles shows her how to fight to get control of her life back. Myles is broken too and Jess heals him while he is there to heal her.

“We cam together two broken people, and it was our shared brokenness that made that kind of love so rare, and for a little while, it made us whole.”

The chemistry between Myles and Jess was great. They both were hard headed and spoke their mind. I loved that she didn’t take any of his crap and both of them could see through the masks they wore and saw the true person inside.

“Don’t ever fucking do that to me again. If you aren’t going to finish what you start, don’t bother starting it.”

“You’re a little better now, you’re no fucking piece of cake to live with, and if I don’t get out of here, I’m afraid one of us isn’t going to survive.”

This book will take you on one hell of an emotional rollercoaster ride. I laughed and cried and a few times wanted to smack the author with her own book. I am so glad I read this book and although the ending did not make me happy it was so worth it.

“His love taught her to keep going, for it is the only choice there is. It proved that pain, addiction, and ultimately, loss, as hard as it is to love with, and as bad as it sucks, has nothing on the power of love.”

For those of you who prefer it straight up, no chaser: Mama to five. Writer. Juggler Extraordinaire. That just about covers it…

The extended version and in third person no less ;): Britney is married to a man she adores (when he isn’t driving her crazy) and is the mother of FIVE pretty amazing kids, who (surprise!) also have a habit of driving her crazy. Her best guess is that it’s genetic. She is the author of three novels, Bedrock, Breaking Bedrock, and Somewhere With You, with plans to release fourth and fifith in 2014. In addition, she founded a local network for women in 2012, which has grown to almost 1200 members. Currently, she occupies a job she enjoys–serving and running Austin Women’s Network. To further prove that she may in fact be certifiably insane, she decided to pursue her dreams and published her debut novel in May of 2013. Then and only then, could she consider her training to be an expert (life) juggler complete.

She would love it if you would connect with her via Facebook and Twitter.

In her free time, you might find Britney running, reading, or spending time utilizing the wonderful venues that make her city great.

Prisoners of Love by Judith Katz ** Tara’s Reveiw**

Summary of Prisoners of Love, a debut novel by Judith Katz Meeting in the most unlikely of places-the waiting room of a penitentiary-a most unlikely friendship proves life-changing for three women. As they slowly learn to understand and trust each other, despite coming from very different worlds, the love and support they offer makes their separate struggles less burdensome and begins to heal their shattered self-esteem. This riveting modern tale of Cissy, Christina and Margaret, whose men are in prison for various offenses, could be ripped from the headlines. One woman is a wealthy pillar of society, another a suburban housewife, while the third was once at the top of the entertainment industry in a popular girl group before she began a rapid and tragic fall. All three have secret heartaches they could share with no one-until they found each other. However, all is not as it seems, as their lives take a sinister turn, and their close bonds and individual strength of character are tested to the extreme.

This book is a guilty pleasure you will not want to put down until you reach its riveting climax. And if ever a book begged for screen adaption, this is it!

Tara's review

4 stars

The story is of 3 completely different women who’s lives become intertwined in the waiting room of the prison where all of their husbands are currently serving time.  though the backgrounds of these women are very different, they find common ground and form a long lasting relationship while working through their husbands being gone.

This is a much different book then I would normally read, but I really enjoyed it and devoured it in one afternoon.

I loved the sisterhood these ladies formed and their back stories were very interesting and kept me reading to find out more. There are times when  their friendships are put in very hard situations and how things worked out melted my heart.

The dramatic conclusion had me holding my breath, but the ending was awesome.

Overall, I enjoyed spending my day watching the lives of Margaret, Cissy and Christina developed through all the twists and turns.

Swing Set by Joanna Kadish Virtual Book Tour

Swing Set

Date Published: August 2014

Shelly and her husband Steve dabble in internet pornography and sex clubs. Their enjoyment reaches heights they never could have imagined, and yet they keep pushing the boundaries. Soon they’re involved in partner swapping and triads. This journey of self-discovery takes them to some unexpected places, and they learn surprising new things about each other. Along the way three women come together and learn to support each other, amid deepening friendship and loyalty. Written in a style that is best described as Tom Perrotta meets Alison Espach, Swing Set shows from a woman’s point of view how free-ranging sexual experimentation can affect a relationship, and how a hobby can become an obsession in a thoroughly modern, internet-savvy world where sex is simply another haute appetite.

I strolled down the street away from my car, into the quickening dusk, my spirits ascending as the rich tones of his deep voice swelled like the notes of a violin through the phone, my heartbeat quickening with desire. I was wearing a sand-colored linen suit, looking very elegant on the outside, but inside I was all quivering need. I longed to be loved by someone new, I’m not sure why, maybe because we had obsessed so many times over these videos and pictures on the Internet. And also, there was so much I couldn’t talk about with Steve, I was always too afraid I’d say something wrong, some little thing that I didn’t mean to sound hurtful but he would take it that way. I was living with the legacy of a Holocaust survivor, not an easy thing for someone whose parents were not only hostile to each other, but they were both poor listeners. They talked over each other. The scene was getting really heavy, and I was reeling from everyone’s trauma, past and present.

A hint of a breeze rustled my hair, but I didn’t notice it—that’s how far gone I was, shivering even in that warm, humid air, my teeth chattering. To the west, the sky loomed expansive, cloudless, a deep purple with pinks and lavenders lingering along the horizon. I was blind to the beauty around me. I focused completely on his voice, breathing deeply when he started speaking again, a shudder running though my body. A sweet lemony scent from the abundance of evening primrose filled my nostrils.

“Come here now and have sex with me,” he said.

“My husband’s expecting me. I told him five minutes ago I’d be heading home around now. I’m not a good prospect. You’d be better off looking elsewhere.” To my ears, my own voice sounded a plaintive longing as I demurred, my days of impetuosity long gone. But I couldn’t stop these raw feelings of physical want that kept rising inside me, along with the need to be adored without all the baggage and recriminations that colored my relationship with Steve.

“Oh, baby, I need you more than he does.”

“I feel the same way.” My desire for him was bubbling within me, in mortal danger of spilling over and causing some mishap. “But I’m married. I can’t sneak around, not even when we’re not getting along, like now.”

“He’s more important than your happiness?” He sounded animated.

“At the moment…yes.” Couldn’t he see that I couldn’t just take off—that my husband would kill me?

I told him good-bye as firmly as possible and clicked off. I was driving my car with a mile to go yet when my cell phone rang again like a five-alarm fire. I fumbled for it, picking it up at the last ring, idly wondered if it was Steve calling to yell at me for being late. He was probably hungry, waiting for me to eat. I floored the accelerator.

“I’m nearly there,” I said without listening for Steve’s scold.

“Without my help?” His breathless, deeply masculine voice carried through the airwaves, invading the inner recesses of my car. “Without me…?”

“Who’s this?” I stalled, although I instantly recognized that singular voice. I felt a prickle of heat warming my groin.

“You sound luscious when you’re uncertain…makes me want to kiss you.”
