Liam wasn’t supposed to be my happily ever after.

He wasn’t even on my radar.

He was my husband’s best friend—forbidden.

But my husband is dead and I’m alone. I ache for him and I reach for Liam.

One night with Liam changed everything. Now I have to decide if I truly love him or if he’s just the consolation prize.

consolation teaser

Today is the last day I will allow myself to feel sorrow, the last day I will shed tears, because tears don’t change anything. I need to harvest whatever strength I have and hold it tight. I’m a mother who has an infant that needs me to be both mom and dad.

One day, they say. One day this will stop hurting.

This will never be okay or stop hurting.

I’ll never be the same. The woman I was before died the minute the knock on the door came. I’m a shell of the woman I was. The woman who was loving, open, and full of hope is gone. Hope is a weak bitch who couldn’t give two fucks about what you want. So I rely on faith. Faith that I’ll make it through this and find my heart again.

FSebookFinding Sadie

At fifteen, I took on the role of Popper out of necessity, forgetting the person I was. That’s when I became the lead singer of a grunge metal band.

Now at twenty-two I’m cocky, a pessimist, and violent. My shrink is even fed up with me, suggesting I try something radical to appreciate the value of life.

She gives me a card that leads me to him, and ultimately I find . . . me.

FPebookForgetting Popper

Being a celebrity makes people think they know who I am. Just because I can’t leave my house without a camera in my face, doesn’t mean you know me.

The sad part is that for so long, I thought of myself the same way everyone else does. Screaming at mosh pits, I personify Popper, lead singer of the band Chimera.

But I have a secret life. A life where I’m a hero, where people look up to me. When my fake celebrity world comes crashing down, and I’m left with not only my secret, but others as well, there is one man standing behind me.

The only thing is, he has the biggest secrets of all.

FSebookFinding Sadie

He lets go of my legs to tangle in my hair, pulling his fists taut as his chest abrades my nipples. Then he gets to work. Fucking me. He fucks me into the mattress. It’s hard and powerful. Luscious and smooth.

“What do you want?” he rasps against my cheek.

I move my hands to his back, nails digging into flesh. “Everything.”

“Not everything. Not yet,” he gasps, pulling away from me. Breaking that delicious friction he has with my chest to pull my thighs back to the bed.

His pace speeds up, so fast I can only stare, my eyes wanting to close but I can’t miss a second. Then he pulls me farther up, my ass and lower back in the air and I explode.

My eyes slam shut, my body arching, thrashing as he holds me down.

“Fucking, yes, yes, give it to me, baby,” he gasps between thrusts as I feel him harden impossibly further, then pulsing inside of me.

I expect to take his weight after he comes, but he rolls to the side. My legs move more slowly. Sore. I am definitely going to be sore tomorrow.

He gasps beside me, lying on his back. One hand is over his head, bicep bulging. Fuck, can I keep him?

As if he hears the thought, he sits up with another groan, getting off the bed. He disappears in the bathroom, and I try to regulate my breathing. Getting rid of round one for two? I may be ready for that. Maybe.

But when he comes back, it’s not to the bed, but his clothes. I sit up and watch silently as he pulls first boxer briefs, then jeans over his muscular thighs. Finally he turns to me and licks his lips, his hands on his hips.

“What’s your name?”

God. Damn it. Way to ruin the mood. What did I really think I was getting here? I knew but it’s always a wake-up call.

With a single chin lift, he’s gone.

Finding Sadie

5 stars

This is the third book and is a novella. I have read all the books so far in this series and I loved this one just as much as the other two!!!!! I love the author’s writing style. Her books suck you in and you don’t want to put them down until it is over. Like all the other books in this series it can be read as a stand-alone.

The chemistry and banter between Sadie and “Batty” is not only hysterical but also hot hot hot!!!! I loved how Sadie came off as a bad ass but was truly a sweet and thoughtful person inside. I loved being inside of her head.

“You’ve got two seconds to move your sausage fingers off of me before I beat your fat ass.”

“Even though Halloween was just last week, it looks like Christmas got drunk and puked everywhere.”

“This car, with his looks, about melt my panties by the time we get to my house. Wait, I don’t were panties unless I’m sleeping.”

This book was emotional as the author touches on some sensitive issues. You might want to have some tissues nearby because you are going to need them.

“They have to be hand wrapped. These presents were selected, not picked out by some worker bee. Jayden wanted them to have them, so I wrapped every fucking one, and don’t you look at me like that, Batty Santa.”

“I’ll never forget you, Robin.” I smile shakily. “I’ll never forge you, little dude.”

I only wished this book was longer because I was hooked on Sadie’s story. I can not wait for the next book in this series because this one leaves you wondering what is going to happen next and I need to know!!!!

Forgetting Popper

4 stars

This is the third book in the series and, like the other two, the author did a great job with this one.

This is the story of Sadie and Finn. You mainly know Finn as “Batty” because that is the nickname Sadie gave him from the moment they met.

The story draws you in right away and I was glued to my kindle until the end. I needed to know what was going to happen between these two. The chemistry and sexual tension between Sadie and Finn was intense. Both Sadie and Fin had their secrets from their past. While reading this book I was patiently waiting for them to open up and confess what was going on inside their heads.

“Sadie, this is the real world. You can’t live in a bubble and only deal with what you want.”

Sadie put up this tough girl persona but underneath she was a sweet girl that really cared about others. I loved how she took the time to give each of the children in the cancer ward a special moment and fulfilled a wish for them. Sadie was young when she became famous. She was the lead singer of the band Chimera. Her fame allowed her to live a life of luxury but, with youth comes being naïve and Sadie was exactly that. Sadie winds up losing all her millions and had to make a decision if she wanted to accept the job opportunity that Finn offered her.

“I’m serious. I haven’t decided if I’m kicking you in the balls yet or not.”

Finn was dominating in the bedroom but caring and really tried to break through the walls that Sadie put up to protect herself. Let me just say that I did not see the plot twist that the author threw at me regarding Batty.

“I told you I would give you what you want. Now come for me.”

The book flowed and the character development was perfect. My only complaint was that I felt there were to many sex scenes written and after a while I found myself starting to skim through them. Loved the plot and can not wait for the next one since this one ended in a cliffhanger.

“I mumble as my heart shatters, realizing that everything I thought I knew is a lie.”

—a Boomerang novel—

By Noelle August

At Boomerang, one night can change everything…

Noelle August has taken the New Adult genre by storm, and readers can’t wait to see what chaos, confusion, and connections arise at the Boomerang offices next.

Adam Blackwood has it all. At twenty-three, he’s fabulously wealthy, Ryan Gosling-hot and at the top of his game in the business world. His life is perfect, until a scandal from his past resurfaces and threatens to knock the tech wunderkind down and throw his company, Boomerang, a hook-up site for millennials, into chaos.
Alison Quick, the twenty-one-year-old daughter of a business tycoon—and the very ex-girlfriend of Boomerang’s former intern, Ethan—has a problem of her own. After nearly flunking out in her senior year of college, she has one chance to redeem herself to her father by proving that she deserves a place in his corporate empire. That means spearheading her father’s plan to sink big money into Adam’s company and launch it into the stratosphere—provided Adam has no skeletons in his closet.
When the two meet, their sizzling chemistry makes it tough to keep things strictly professional. But when Alison discovers Adam’s secret, she knows she should bring it right to her father, who’ll leverage it for his own gain and use it to ruin Adam. The only problem: she’s falling for Adam—hard.

Will earning her father’s approval come at the price of losing her first real love? Or can Adam and Alison leave behind past mistakes and conquer the world—together?

Debbie's review

3.5 stars

This is the second book in this series. I loved Boomerang so was supper exited I was going to be able to read this one.

The book starts off fantastic and the character development was perfect. I loved how the author took the time for the two main characters to grow. I just felt it was a little rushed at the end and would have liked to see the relationship between Alison and Adam grow a little bit more at the end.

The book kept me wondering till the very end what Adam was hiding. I loved Adam and felt bad for what he had been through. His loss had caused him to shut down and become your typical manwhore who wanted nothing but a roll in the hay with a woman and then walk away.

“You’re like human Novocain. I can actually feel my brain going numb.”

“The best thing about Boomerang, though, is that it’s a constant reminder that relationships with women should be kept strictly fun- and very temporary.”

Alison had a tough upbringing. She came from money but with that came lots of stress. Her father expected a lot from her. Her father, Graham Quick, was nothing but an asshole. All he cared about was power and used his own daughter to get what he wanted. He had no regard for anyone’s feelings. At the end of the day all that mattered to him was being on top.

“Try to pretend you want to have sex with me, “I whisper to Paul.” Or at least like you don’t want to have sex with him.”

The chemistry and sexual tension between Adam and Alison was hot! I kept waiting for these two to admit that they were attracted to each other. I loved the banter between the two of them. I loved the fact that this book was told in dual POV. This happens to be my favorite because it is great when you can get into the heads of both main characters.

“What’s amazing is that I’m practically getting wood just looking at her, and she’s talking about a fish.”

The book was entertaining and had a few laugh out loud moments but it also had some moments where my heart hurt for both of them.

Grey was Adam’s brother and I am hoping the author gives him a book because I really would love to get inside his head. I loved how Grey was the one to finally get Adam to see the light and allow himself happiness again. Grey has some secrets I would love to find out about.

Ali laughs. Her gaze feels like sunshine on my back, but I don’t turn around. I pull my wetsuit up to my waist, adjusting myself so I’m comfortable. The cool Neoprene layer feels familiar and my body responds, my heart thumping hard, anticipation rushing through my veins. The prospect of the ocean always does this to me. This has nothing to do with the girl behind me.

Ali’s voice is close. Turning, I almost bump into her.

Her wetsuit is all the way on, which is good. And terrible.

“What’s up?” I ask.

She smells like suntan oil and peaches. This close, I see that her cheeks are turning slightly pink from the sun. With her hair pulled back, no makeup, and the wetsuit covering her completely, she looks better than she has all week at the office. Better than she did in the Catwoman costume. There’s something powerful about her now. The way her slender legs are planted firmly on the swaying boat, like she’s not trying at all. She’s at home on the water. This from an admitted equestrian. I can only imagine what she’s like with her horses.

“Sorry, but . . .” She smiles and points at her back. “My zipper’s jammed.” She turns around and pulls her ponytail up. “Can you help me out?”

“Sure. You want this on, right? Just want to be sure.”

I can’t see her face, but I know she’s smiling. “Yes. On please.”

I allow myself a moment to enjoy the way she looks right in front of me. Then I take the zipper leash, letting my knuckles drift over her back, just above the knot of her bikini.

If I weren’t completely focused on her, I’d have missed the way she curls slightly toward me.

Focus, Blackwood. Zip the wetsuit up.

Quiet Angel by Prescott Lane Blog Tour & Giveaway

Image 1

Release Date: Feb. 24, 2015

We all have that someone we can’t forget, the summer it all began, and the sleepless nights wondering what went wrong.

For Gage Montgomery, that someone is Layla Baxter. When he was 18, he took one look at the chocolate-haired bookworm with porcelain skin and knew his life would never be the same. But it all came crashing down when Layla suddenly and mysteriously disappeared from St. Simons Island — leaving him with nothing but her angel wing pendent around his neck. For 12 long years, Gage couldn’t shake what happened, if he’s the one to blame, wondering where Layla might be. When their paths finally cross, he’s determined to get the answers he’s spent his life searching for — and to get the girl, too. Quiet Angel is a story of hope, survival, and lost love made new again.

“I missed you, too, but you were never far.” Gage touched his shirt with the wings inside. “You were always there.”

Josie's review

4.5 stars

This is the first time I have read a book by this author and it won’t be the last. This book far surpassed my expectations. I appreciate when a new to me author grabs my attention with her story. It had me falling for the innocence of a first time love and how despite the years and space that love remained the same. When I started to read the first chapter I fell in love with Layla and Gage, their awkwardness, innocence and connection, but I knew that there was something that would change. The story is told in two parts and two POV’s. It starts out where we get to see the early years when they are both very innocent. It then progresses to where it was years later when they are more mature, needy, intense and devoted.

Layla and Gage meet over one summer on St. Simons Island off the Georgia coast. Gage is a recent graduate away with his family before going off to the Naval Academy. What started out for him as an unwanted summer beach vacation changes when he sees a girl that completely captivates him. At that point nothing was the same for him.

Layla is staying with her grandmother for summer at her cottage. After meeting Gage on the beach there was something about him that drew her in. She knew Gage was different from the preppy guys. The two of them have this strong pull for one another and they decide to spend the summer together doing things. Even though they were attracted to one another there was a slow build up to their relationship. It was not an instant love and that made it all the more believable for me. They really spent time together and got to really know each other. Over the course of the summer you can really see how they started to fall in love but one tragic night changed everything for the pair. They do not see each other again for 12 years.

When their paths cross years later both are shocked to see one another again. The years have changed them both but the love and attraction they have is still evident. Tragedy tore them apart and tragedy will bring them together. I enjoyed reading how much the mature version of each character felt towards the other one. Gage had so many questions about what happened that summer night and Layla does not know how to explain what happened. When Gage finally learns the truth, his love and need to protect intensifies. Gage has been groomed to become the Governor of Georgia, but Layla (Angel’s) past might be a problem.

There is outside influences that will try to tear them apart. As well as cruel rumors, but the best thing about this couple is they stand by each other. Gage and Layla have to find out who is trying to destroy them and find a way to make their dreams for forever come true. Can Layla and Gage find their Happily Ever After? Can true love survive life’s ups and downs? I was not prepared for Layla’s secret but the author did an amazing job in showing readers her journey and how much each character has changed. Get ready to meet Gage and Angel, and find out just how far true love can stand the test of time and space.

Two Years Ago

“Sophie, wait! I’m sorry. I’m just worried about you,” Megan yells from the double doors leading from the locker room into the hallway.

She saw the bruises on my body.

I knew better than to change in front of everyone after gym class, yet I did it anyway because I was running late to meet my boyfriend. Blaine doesn’t like it when I keep him waiting. Tossing my book bag over my shoulder, I round the corner and smack right into him – and he doesn’t look happy.

“What did you say to her?” He questions with a deadly stare.

“Nothing. I didn’t say a word.” I didn’t but I still avert my eyes, choosing to stare at the tile on the floor instead of him. Without warning, he grabs my arm and pulls me into the bathroom. It’s empty.

“Please, Blaine.” I’m begging him to stop. He hears me, but he doesn’t listen.

                “I told you what I would do, didn’t I?”

I swallow, my hands shaking. “Yes.”

He pins my arms against the wall, hovering over me. “And yet you still couldn’t keep your damn mouth shut.”

I try to yank my arms from his grasp, but his grip is too tight. His fingertips dig painfully into my arms, his nails breaking through the skin. “I swear I didn’t tell her anything.”

He inches closer to my face, the warmth of his breath hits my cheek. “Don’t fucking lie to me, Sophie. What happened the last time you lied to me?”

                “I’m not lying. Please, Blaine. I wouldn’t.”

                “What happened, Sophie?”

He’s going to make me say it – as if I’d ever need a reminder. It’s impossible to forget. “You had to teach me a lesson.”

“But you never learn. No matter how hard I try to protect you.”

“I’m sorry,” I plead. Regardless of the fact that I’m innocent, he morphs my apology into an admission of guilt.

“Damn right you are,” he spits through gritted teeth. His calmness now completely gone and replaced with anger. “Don’t you ever lie to me again, you hear me?”

                “Yes,” I whisper.

He grabs my chin, roughly scraping his calloused thumb over my lips. His dilated pupils pierce straight through me sending chills down my spine. “Tell me you love me.” My words get lodged in my throat and I make the mistake of pausing a second too long. “Say it!” he warns as his fist pounds against the wall next to my head.

“I love you, Blaine.” And maybe there was a time I actually did. He wasn’t always like this, but neither was I. If I could go back in time, I’d tell him no. I’d push him away from me and keep my distance. But I’m just like my mother – unable to get away and desperate enough to stay. “Please let go of me. You’re hurting me.”

Finally he releases me, replacing his harsh words with sweet promises – his rough touches with gentle caresses. With a flip of a switch, he’s back to the Blaine I fell for, masking any signs of the evil he’s become.

“You make me so crazy, Sophie.” He runs his fingers through my long blond hair, leaving a trail of light kisses on my neck. “I only get mad because I love you so much.”

“I know.” Painfully well. My scattered bruises a daily reminder of his temper.

His hand falls from my hair as he latches onto my hip, pulling me flush against his body. “Baby, I need you. You’re everything to me.”

Everything I don’t want to be. Not anymore.

Beneath the surface, I’m scarred and broken; a much darker version of the girl I once was. There was a time I believed I was worthy of true love. But now, living in a hell littered with reminders of broken promises, I know what we have is anything but love.

It’s in this moment that I know I’m not strong enough to fight another day unless I get away from him. But I don’t know how. I need a plan – something to get me away from this town and its memories.

Closing my eyes, I say a silent prayer that my luck will change – that someone will save me from the hell my life has become.

It’s the last thing I remembered.

I was afraid.

Afraid to fight, afraid to run… afraid to breathe.

Then, everything had gone dark. As if life was finally hearing my pleas, my cries to end the torment. To end the fear.

But even in the dark, I still felt it.

I always felt it.

My life had been a ricochet of one event leading to the next. Bouncing back and forth from good to bad. Happiness to despair. Hope to fear.

My name is Arianna West. I’m stronger now. Steady. Alive.

I can find a way to survive on my own. I can see what is coming for me. I can channel my fear into strength.

Except… I didn’t see Jack.

And Jack changed everything.

For readers 18+ due to language, violence, and sexual content.

Ricochet Teaser 4

“No, Jack. It’s over now, it doesn’t matter. I don’t have the ability to focus on that part of my life. I’ve got too many other things to take care of before I go back to being… well, a woman that just wants to be loved.” “Ari, I -” “Let me finish,” I said sharply and held my hand up in between us. He shut his mouth and nodded. “I know I should be grateful for what I had and I have no one to blame but myself for the decisions I made, but that doesn’t stop me from wanting to be that woman. Every woman just wants to find that kind of love, that kind of companionship, but I’m not like them anymore.” Jack’s frown deepened and I could see that he wanted to argue.

Ricochet Teaser 3

Josie's review

4.5 stars

Ricochet (A Rise and Fall Novel) by Jessica Wilde was such a powerful, emotional and uplifting read that captured my attention and held on every single. Once I started this book I could not put it down. The author gives readers a warning: the book contains strong language, and some sexual situations, and some violence. This content deals with aspects of domestic abuse that might be a trigger to some readers. I have to say this read hit home with me. I connected with the main character Arianna (Ari) and felt her willingness to accept, survive and fight. The prologue was strong and emotional and that alone had me wanting to know what the final outcome would be.   This book will teach women, girls and victims that there is hope, second chances and that any kind of violence is wrong.

Months after a terrible attack, and with the help of her brother Jake, Ari is starting her life over. She has a job, friends and a home. Ari spent 2 ½ years away from her parents, brother and friends after given her everything to a man. The man she thought was Mr. Wonderful turned out to the very man that controlled her and nearly killed her. This book is the epitome of what family means. Regardless of where life takes you, your family are the ones that will ALWAYS have your back.

Ari believes she is safe but the reality is she isn’t. This man is not willing to let her go and he will stop at nothing to break her. Ari’s gut instinct is to run to her brother Jake. However the one person she never wanted to see again, the man that broke her heart, is the very man that comes to her rescue, Jack. Ari has lived her life feeling betrayed by Jake. He was supposed to come back for her and never did. Jack is back home after years away and is trying to right the wrongs from the past. Seeing Ari beaten and broke, he has vowed to never let her go again.

Ari will fight for freedom, her independence and her life. The road is not an easy one. Jake is not willing to lose his sister again. Between Jake and Jack they are total alpha males with her. Jake and Ari have to learn to accept the past and work together to give Ari back what was taken. Ari’s heart always belonged to Jack but she is broken, scared and does not understand why he ran and left her and Jake behind. Jack helps Ari the only why he can and that is to be there for her, as a friend helping whenever she needs it. As time goes on the more he falls and he knows he has to make his move.

“It means that if I don’t do something about this now, I will miss my chance. It means you’ve got other guys wanting your attention and I don’t want to share it. Not anymore.”

“I have no idea what I’m supposed to do anymore. No, I’m not afraid. I’m utterly terrified, Jack. Terrified that the only good I have ever had in my life will disappear if I reach too far for it.”

“You don’t have to reach, Ari. I’m right here in front of you.”

You will fall in love with Jack and Jake. Their loyalty and love of Ari is truly inspiring and totally BBF material. Just when Ari’s life seems to be going well, her past comes back with a vengeance. Ari fights hard to be the person she once was. She fights for happiness with Jack, Jake, her friends and parents. I loved how the author shows Ari’s fight to persevere and to no longer be a victim. I cried for her pain and her journey. The story is told in alternate POV’s which I love because I could really feel the emotions of both characters. Please read this book and go along with Ari on her journey for survival, true love and peace.

About The Author

I live in Morgan Utah with my husband, daughter, and dog, Kolo. I write as often as my active daughter will let me and my husband has the patience of a saint. I find inspiration from dreams, people I meet, and life experiences. When I write, I usually end up drinking one too many cans of Peace Tea, eating three too many Fruit by the Foot fruit snacks, and accidently kicking my pup and best buddy, Kolo, too many times since he loves to sleep under my desk at my feet.
I started writing as a teen, but my fear of the unknown won out every time and I threw everything out. After becoming a mother and deciding to stay at home to raise my beautiful little girl, I tried again when I couldn’t stop thinking of ideas. I loved every minute, every hour of sleep lost, and every character that came to life in my mind.
It’s strange, but my favorite moments are when I have writer’s block because I can turn to my husband and find inspiration through him by just doing what we do best together. Talking, laughing, and just being in love. He doesn’t like to read, but he never stops encouraging me to keep going.
Writing has become an important part of my life and every book has a special place in my heart.

Beth's Review

4 stars

To say that I am a huge lover of Hockey romance books is a bit of an understatement. They are absolutely my all time favourite genre to read. Although, sadly there aren’t enough hockey romances out there to read and what is out there is normally either a huge hit or a really big miss. When I read the synopsis for Undressed, I jumped at the chance to read it but then after realizing it was book #4.5 in a series, I went into reading it with a bit of apprehension. The book says it can be read as a standalone, but that isn’t always the case with series books. To my surprise and delight, this book being able to read as a standalone held true. Would I have maybe enjoyed it more if I had read the first four books, probably but only because I would be getting more of Paige and Brendan, character I know I would have fallen in love with in their book, the first book of the series. Not having met them already was not needed at all to be able to enjoy the storyline of this book.

PR rep Abby Fields has decided to leave the politicians behind in Washington and move closer to her friend and try out hockey players instead. After several months of Logan and Abby having an attraction for each other, they come together one night due to circumstances and decide to play Strip, Shoot or Truth. The chemistry between these two is instant and off the charts and when they decide to play a game that alcohol along with the removal of clothing comes into play, these two can’t fight holding themselves back from the attraction and finally give in. They come to soon realize that that one night isn’t enough for either of them, but there is just one problem, Abbey has it in her contract the hockey team that there is no fraternization.  Seeing though how Logan likes to keep his life private, they decide to see where it goes and keep their relationship hidden. Or at least they think they keep it hidden. What they don’t realize is they are not very good at hiding their feelings by they way they look at each other when others that know them well are in the same room with them.

I loved Abby, first because she was a sassy red head, which is my favorite female lead character. She like all red heads had great sass and spunk that I loved and was such a great strong character. She was confident in herself and knew what she wanted. And I really enjoyed that she was real, she wasn’t always perfect, she had a side that wasn’t always strong and I loved that she let her walls down and let Logan see it.

Logan, how can you not absolutely love this hot hockey hunk. He’s an amazing player who could very easily be nothing more than an arrogant asshole, but he’s not. He’s a bit rough and gruff at times, but it’s him in a dark place after losing his daughter years ago, it’s him keeping people at arms length and it’s him trying to keep his private life separate from his public life, not something easy to do when you are a pro hockey player in the NHL. But behind all that gruffness is a great big teddy bear with a huge heart of gold. I love how amazing generous he is, especially when it comes to sick kids.

Overall, this was a really great hockey novella that I thoroughly enjoyed. It was a great mix of some hockey action, hot sexy scenes as well as some totally swoon worthy romantic scenes. I loved these two together and the relationship they had. I loved that they were always saying “Truth” and being 100% honest as they got to know each other. Even though I felt the ending a bit rushed for my liking and I was left needing a bit more, I must say found it was a really great length for a novella, it actually felt more like a short novel. The storyline moved at a great pace having it carrying out over several months and without it feeling like an insta-romance that took place over a few weeks which is what normally happens with novellas.   I also must say I really enjoyed the author’s writing, I am not normally a fan of books written in third person POV but didn’t mind this one at all and didn’t have an issue at all connecting with the characters like I normally do with third. I will definitely be going back and checking the rest of the books out when I can find some time, especially the first book, would like to read Paige’s story. I really hope that this won’t be the last we see of Abby and Logan, would absolutely love to see Jace’s have his own book which might hopefully include Adele, it seemed like the author was hinting something more between these two in this book, so here’s hoping there is more to come.   This may have been my first book by Shannon Richards but it definitely won’t be my last, and I will be looking forward to what else she has in store for this series.

Shannon Richard grew up in the Florida Panhandle as the baby sister of two overly protective but loving brothers. She was raised by a more than somewhat eccentric mother, a self-proclaimed vocabularist who showed her how to get lost in a book and a father who passed on his love for coffee and really loud music. She graduated from Florida State University with a BA in English Literature and still lives in Tallahassee where she battles everyday life with writing, reading, and a rant every once in a while. Okay, so the rants might happen on a regular basis. She’s still waiting for her Southern, scruffy, Mr. Darcy, and in the meantime writes love stories to indulge her overactive imagination. Oh, and she’s a pretty big fan of the whimsy.

Fighting Silence by Aly Martinez Blog Tour & Giveaway

fighting silence blog tour

fighting silence

Sound is an abstract concept for most people. We spend our lives blocking out the static in order to focus on what we believe is important. But what if, when the clarity fades into silence, it’s the obscure background noise that you would give anything to hold on to?

I’ve always been a fighter. With parents who barely managed to stay out of jail and two little brothers who narrowly avoided foster care, I became skilled at dodging the punches life threw at me. Growing up, I didn’t have anything I could call my own, but from the moment I met Eliza Reynolds, she was always mine. I became utterly addicted to her and the escape from reality we provided each other. Throughout the years, she had boyfriends and I had girlfriends, but there wasn’t a single night that I didn’t hear her voice.

You see, meeting the love of my life at age thirteen was never part of my plan. However, neither was gradually going deaf at the age of twenty-one.

They both happened anyway.

Now, I’m on the ropes during the toughest battles of my life.

Fighting for my career.

Fighting the impending silence.

Fighting for her.

Every night, just before falling asleep, she sighs as a final conscious breath leaves her.

I think that’s the sound I’ll miss the most.

5 stars
Till Page and Eliza Reynolds are brought together while looking for an escape from their realities. The unlikely friends spend nights in an abandoned building, in their own world for years. They form a bond through the years that neither of them can live without. They do their best to support each other and their “family”, putting everything before themselves.

When an opportunity presents itself and their lives could be changed forever, sacrifices will have to be made in order for their fantasy to become reality.

I realized while pulling my notes together for this review that I in fact had hardly highlighted anything, which is so unlike me. I was so completely engrossed in falling in love with this story that I rarely stopped long enough to highlight or make notes. It’s just that good!

Aly is without a doubt one of my top favorite authors. She has the ability to draw you in with her interesting storylines. She will send you on a roller coaster, and just when you think you are at the peak of figuring it all out, bam, a switchback. There is something unique about her writing style that keeps me coming back for more.

The character development in this book was perfect. I loved everything about every single character right down to sassy foul mouthed Q. Till Page is so easy to fall in love with. His love for those close to him and the lengths he is willing to go to do right by them made me swoon. Eliza is a strong willed, wise beyond her years sassy pants, who works hard, and loves harder.

I adored the connection that Till and Eliza formed at such early ages, and enjoyed how their relationship evolved throughout the years. I could feel the love between these two from the start, their friendship was something that every teenager should get to experience.

“There is nothing in this world that was ever more mine than you.”

Overall, another amazing book that you need to get now, and if you haven’t already read the Wrecked and Ruined Series then grab those as well. You will be sucked in from the prologue and have a hard time putting this down until the very last page.

Meet Till & Eliza in Aly Martinez’s newest fighter series!

“Hi.” I stood up off the bed as he started climbing through the window.

His eyes went wide when he saw me, causing him to momentarily lose his balance on the windowsill and go crashing to the floor. “God. Damn,” he cursed as he rose to his feet while taking in my new wardrobe. “You… I…um…” His hand went to his lip.

He was rooted in place only a few steps away, but his eyes traveled over every inch of my body and back again.

Till was speechless. I had never felt so empowered in my life.

“Are you okay?” I feigned concern as I slowly approached.

“Not even close,” he told my breasts, making me giggle.

After sliding a hand under the edge of his T-shirt, I raked a fingernail over each of his abs before dipping it into the waistband of his jeans.

“I’m sore today,” I announced, closing the distance between us. My breasts were pressed against him, but he still hadn’t even attempted to touch me yet. I had plans to remedy that. I smirked then stood up on my tiptoes, kissing the base of his neck. “Make me sore for tomorrow too.” At the last second, I darted my tongue out to the hollow dip at the base of his neck. It was meant to tease him, but as the taste of his skin hit my tongue, I was flooded with memories of taking more of him in my mouth. The moan escaped before I’d even felt it coming.

A loud rumble shook his chest, but that was the only warning I received. Suddenly, I was off my feet and sailing through the air. Just as I landed on the bed, Till crashed on top of me. His mouth roughly landed on mine.

“Tell me we can’t do this again,” he demanded as his hands found my breasts.

“We’re definitely doing this again.” I arched into him.

“It’s gonna get so messy, Eliza. Please.” He groaned as I reached into the front of his jeans.

“I’m okay with messy,” I breathed, guiding his hand from my breast and into my panties.

“Fuuuuuck” he cursed when he discovered just how thorough I’d been with the razor earlier. His finger pressed inside me as his body traveled down the bed and settled between my legs, stripping my panties off during his descent.

He added another finger in a less than gentle but overwhelmingly intoxicating, rhythm.

“Tell me to stop, Eliza. We can’t do this again.” He grazed his teeth on the inside of my thigh.

“We’re already doing it.”

“Tell me to stop.”

“It’s going to ruin us.”

“If you don’t stop talking, you’re going to ruin this.”

“I’m serious.” He kissed the inside of my other thigh, his fingers never faltering in their steady pace.

“So am I. Stop trying to talk yourself out of this while your fingers are buried inside me.” I threaded a hand into his hair and gave it a gentle tug.

“Goddammit. Tell me to stop!” he demanded one last time, but his fingers sped before twisting in the most delicious way.

I decided to give him what he wanted, but only because I knew he wouldn’t follow through.

“Stop.” I rolled my hips forcing him even deeper.

“Well, it’s too fucking late now.”

I would have laughed, but his mouth sealed over my clit and stole my breath, words, thoughts, and orgasm. My body shook as he pushed me higher even while I was falling. It shouldn’t have worked like that, but whatever voodoo magic Till Page was working with that night was all right with me. He didn’t stop swirling his tongue until I used his hair to pry his mouth away.

“Too much!” I cried.

He looked up with a wickedly proud grin. His hand disappeared, and seconds later, his cock replaced it.

Jodie's review
4.5 stars

“It was deep, the darkest hour that settled over the Earth before the sun shed its light to proclaim a new day.  I wanted to put it on pause.  To live in this fantasy, just for a little while.”

OH MY HELL THIS BOOK!!!  Let me just say prepare for a book hangover that I haven’t experienced in a while and prepare for tears!!  You know what just get a box of tissues and a bottle of wine you will need it!  I don’t even know what to say about this book I LOVED IT, I want the second one and …

“Something like butterflies scattered in my stomach, a jumble of frantic wings that fluttered hard and fast, taking flight in my veins.  Soaring high.  Dipping low.  Chemistry. Is that what this is called?  I hated and loved it all at the same time.”

Yep that is it I had immediate chemistry with the characters in this book or maybe it was that I immediately felt their chemistry.  Whatever it was I was immediately connected with this story.  From the moment Shea meets Sebastian in the bar you feel these two belong together.   It’s a tension that only builds as you continue to read.

“Everyone wanted a piece of Sebastian Stone.”

Oh my Sebastian, everyone literally wanted something from this man.  He was this broken, scarred closed off rock star.  He seriously broke me this man.

“Guys like him had never been my style, if I even really had a style anymore.  I never went for the boy who screamed trouble and heartache and a fast, hard, blinding bliss kind of ride before he ripped apart your little world when he left.”

LOL okay let’s just admit now that is exactly the kind of man that gets me every time!!  PERFECTION, he is perfection.  Then there is Shea, the perfect girl next door.  She is the complete opposite of Sebastian.   However they both have secrets, they both have a past.  MISTAKES, everyone has mistakes.   DEMONS.

“Getting lost in wide, guileless eyes that still held a million secrets.  Feeding off that sweet naivety while she owned me with clever, cunning hands.”

And that’s exactly what AL Jackson did she owned me with her words.  I felt everything this couple went through.  My heart broke right along with theirs.  I truly experienced each of their emotions happiness, fear, anger I felt each one as if I was a part of them.  I also was completely blown away when certain surprises and twists were revealed. The way AL told this story was truly breathtaking and real.

“This one’s hard to forget.”

This story is super powerful, and for me was beyond emotional.  Of course there is a cliff and it has left me completely obsessed with these characters, and I truly can’t stop thinking about what is going on and what is going to happen.  And as much as I want the rest of their story I always want several others stories from the band.  Bottom line even the secondary characters are amazing so let’s just say I am completely obsessed with this series and it’s just beginning.  I am hooked and this just became my new drug of choice.

“Sebastian had changed me. Altered who I was, what I believed, and what I wanted.”

ASITS_Sexy Meme

I dug in my bag for my keys and slipped the front-door key into the lock, turned the knob, and cracked open the door.

“Goodnight, Baz.” I turned away and went to cross the threshold.

I felt him move before I felt the blazing heat of his hand on my neck, beneath my hair, his thumb at my jaw to force me to look back at him.

Indecision swam through his eyes, voice rough. “You’re beautiful, Shea. Need you to know that.”

Slowly, I shifted, turning to face him, his right hand gliding around to the side of my neck in the same second his left came up to the other side. Holding me. Thumbs ran along the contour of my jaw, strong fingers at my nape tipping back my head.

I felt like I would drown under the intensity of him—my body coming alive—a rapid-fire of sensation licking through my body with the simple touch.

I stopped breathing when he slowly leaned in. His mouth brushed over mine in a feather-light caress.

Once. Twice. Three times.

As if he were curious to see what it might feel like.

Like he’d gotten the answer, he gripped my face. There was little movement, just the dizzying sweetness of his lips as they pressed earnestly against my mouth. Baz inhaled, breathing the moment in. I grabbed his wrists to hold him closer as my knees went weak, the man again having the power to evoke the most foolish kind of reaction from me.

He fed from it, I could tell, the way every inch of him hardened and a rumble of pleasure vibrated from his chest.

Spinning us, he pushed me up against the wall. My back hit it with a thud, and his hands were in my hair, yanking me forward in the same second his mouth closed fiercely over mine.

He was no longer gentle, and he swept his tongue along the rim of my bottom lip, teasing at the corner, nipped me once before his tongue slipped inside.

It was an all-out assault.
