NEW RELEASE: Baking & Babies (Chocoholics #3) by Tara Sivec

“I’m pregnant.”

Molly Gilmore had a good life before she uttered those two stupid words. While preparing to graduate from culinary school and building up the courage to make a move on her hot, sugar-cookie-smelling pastry instructor Marco, she can’t wait to finally have the GREAT life she’s always dreamed about, instead of just the good one she’s been living.

Always known as the quiet ninja, she fully intends to stay hidden in the shadows with her nut-job family, so they have no chance to embarrass her around the man she’s crushed on for two years. Unfortunately, her family has other plans. When they yank her straight out of her comfort zone, she finds herself starring in the craziest train wreck she’s ever witnessed.

Molly ultimately gets a more exciting life that doesn’t revolve around school, but she’s pretty sure the man of her dreams won’t be sticking around long after her family gets ahold of him. There aren’t too many guys who can handle smelling like pee, having the whole world know how he masturbates, and being forced to eat an entire bag of dicks.

Join the Chocolate Lovers and Chocoholics gang for one final story about love, baked goods, making poor life choices, and remembering how important family is—even if they drive you insane.

Mostly because it’s illegal to kill them.

Jodie's review

4.5 stars

Before I even start I am just going to say if you haven’t read anything from this series I feel sorry for you and you should just stop your life and go do that now.   This book had me laughing so hard I found myself rereading parts just to try to keep a straight face and then I would use a line on my husband to see his reaction as I cried on the couch.

“I’m sorry minivan means WHAT?”

Believe me when I say I can no longer look at moms in the school pick up line in minivans and not laugh! Every time I read one of these books in this series I think Tara can’t possibly make me laugh any harder but OH MY HELL SHE DOES!!!   I think I highlighted half the book.

This is Molly’s story and even though she is the quiet one in the family, in this book she takes center stage. I LOVE HER!!    Molly is finishing up school while crushing hard on her teacher Marco. I am not going to lie I was crushing hard on Marco Polo too!!  But what Molly doesn’t know Marco is crushing just as hard on her.   But he couldn’t make a move because of the whole teacher/student thing. But then graduation comes, a secret is revealed and BAM we are in the mix of a crazy comedy!!!    I loved Molly and Macro.  These two are a romantic train wreck and I freaking loved it!!   I want to quote the book all over but really then I will hear JODIE SPOILED IT and then I will blame it on Tom Brady.

“It’s always Tom Brady’s fault.”

It’s always hard for me to write a review 5, 6 books in when it comes to a series!   So I am going to leave it at this. This was the perfect ending for this series, the happy ever after I wish lasted forever!!  This was the sprinkles for the perfectly iced cupcake!  We got to spend time with the whole family and a new family. We got to see the crazy we have come to love and Tara made sure she gave a send off for these characters like no other!

Title: Hawk’s Property

Series: Insurgents MC #1

Author: Chiah Wilder

Genre: MC Romance

Release Date: October 27, 2015

From the first time Hawk saw her, he knew he wanted to do dirty things to her in his bed.

Hawk, the muscled, tatted, badass Vice President of the Insurgents Motorcycle Club, sees women as bed warmers, nothing more. He never stays with the same woman, and although there are plenty of women who want to be his old lady, he wants none of that.

He doesn’t date.

He doesn’t let chicks ride on the back of his bike.

He doesn’t fall in love.

And that suits him just fine until he meets her whose eyes light a fire in him. Problem is she’s not so easy to get into his bed. Hawk wants her. And when Hawk wants something he takes it.

Cara Minelli doesn’t want to go to the biker bar, but her friend talks her into it. Swearing off men since she caught her fiancé cheating on her right before her wedding, she has buried herself in her career not wanting a man in her life. Until she sees him. He is sexy, rough, crude, and oh so very wrong for her. So why can’t she stop thinking of all the nasty things he’ll do to her if she relents and lets him in her bed?

Then a vicious killer who has been strangling women in the area focuses on Cara. Police think bikers are involved. Can Cara set aside her trust issues and let Hawk into her life?

Hawk sees it as his job to protect what is his…and Cara is very much his even if she doesn’t know it yet. Cara keeps her heart guarded, but when danger comes calling, their lives collide. Hawk will stop at nothing to keep Cara safe and make her “Property of Hawk”.

The Insurgents MC series are standalone romance novels. Hawk’s Property is Book One in the series. This book contains violence, strong language, and steamy sexual scenes. HEA. No cliffhangers. The book is intended for readers over the age of 18

Looking at Cara with slightly unfocused eyes, Sherrie turned around on her bar stool, trying to get the bartender’s attention. Cara watched the various patrons as they came up to order their drinks. The majority of them were men, and the few women in the bar were dressed in provocative clothing: short skirts, barely-there tops, skin-tight jeans, and spandex dresses. Her blue jeans and sleeveless, knit black top made her look like the poster woman for prim and proper. Sherrie, dressed in a tight black dress with silver studs and buckles, had told her to “slut it up a bit,” but Cara didn’t feel comfortable wearing anything too revealing in a biker bar. Seeing all the women strutting their stuff, she realized she stuck out like a sore thumb. She jumped when the entrance door slammed, making Sherrie laugh.

“God, you’re nervous.”

“These aren’t the type of people I usually hang with.” Cara looked toward the door and watched a tall guy heading toward the bar. She gasped when he came into full view.

Her first impression was of raw power and sex. He was gorgeous, with shoulder-length black hair tied back in a ponytail. Sporting a nice build—muscular, but not bodybuilder-like—he wore two earrings in his right ear, jeans which fit him snugly around his legs and crotch, and a t-shirt that molded over his sculpted abs. A black leather jacket hung over his broad shoulders and gleaming silver chains hung down from his jeans’ pocket. He was definitely all male.

Cara raised her eyes from his body to his face, and a strange shiver slid up her spine, making her scalp tighten and her hands tingle. His ocean blue eyes stared at her from below perfectly shaped dark brows and above a slightly Roman nose. Full lips twitched in a half-smile, making her lick her own while widening her eyes. Hard, angular planes, a strong jaw, and a five o’clock shadow lent to his blatant sexiness. Swallowing hard, Cara glanced down again at his crotch, transfixed by the big mound against his zipper.

Looking up once again, she met his blue eyes, smoldering with intensity. Her cheeks turned crimson and she glanced away. In the mirror behind the bar, she saw him smirking at her as he leaned against the end of the counter.

“Hey, Hawk, what’s your vice?” the bartender asked him.

“A bottle of Coors.” His deep, smooth voice stroked Cara’s senses like silk. He jerked his head toward her. “Do you know her?”

“She’s a friend of the blonde who’s been coming here for two weeks chasing me. Damn, her friend’s so nervous and outta place. It looks like she’s never been to a biker bar.”

“Yeah, she doesn’t exactly fit in. Fuck, she’s hot, though.”

Cara’s whole body tensed as her face heated, and she crossed her hands on the bar while he flagrantly assessed her. She averted her eyes and stared at the scratched markings on the wooden bar, running her fingers over the grooves, while she wondered if she should be livid at his vulgarity or flattered that he thought she was hot.

Patsy, the bartender, laughed. “I know you’re checking out her big rack.”

“You know me, man. A stacked bitch does it for me every time. I’d love to have my mouth around those soft tits. Her curves aren’t too shabby, either.”

Cara pretended to be engrossed in conversation with an inebriated Sherrie. Her face was turned toward her friend, but her ears were glued to the biker’s conversation. She couldn’t help herself; she was repulsed, yet titillated by his crudeness.

“You horny bastard.” Patsy chuckled.

“No argument there. She’s one sexy woman.”

Her cheeks flushed as the men continued to talk about her. She was tempted to grab her friend’s arm and yank her out of the dive at any second.

“Damn, girl, that guy is really checking you out. He’s totally hot.” Sherrie nudged her, tilting her head in Hawk’s direction.

“He’s being rude, and I’m not flattered.” Unable to resist, Cara glanced at Hawk sideways. Every time she looked at him, he was staring back at her, his gaze lingering on her mouth. His piercing stare made her stomach flutter. These drinks must really be strong. She was ogling a complete stranger decked out in leather and chains, picturing his lips on hers, his tongue probing her mouth. Fanning herself with her hand, she swore not to have another drink.

Josie's review

5 stars

I am a MC book whore, what can I say, so naturally I just had to get my hands on this book. The synopsis had me sold at “he wanted to dirty things to her in his bed”, yep sold! The author really did an amazing job with this MC book. We get a bad ass biker, a feisty, classy heroine, an MC and a serial killer. Seriously… A SERIAL KILLER WITH A SICK FETISH! These characters come from two totally different worlds, but once their two worlds collide – get yourself a change of panties, some wine and popcorn because it is one heck of a ride. Every single page in this book was thrilling, suspenseful, and emotional with lots and lots of dirty, hot biker sex. Hawks Property is the first book in this series, and I can guarantee it will not be the last I read.

Hawk is your typical VP biker. He loves women but he does not date, fall in love or let a chick onto his bike. Hawk is about to get knocked off his high horse, because once he sees Cara in the biker bar, he wants her. It should be easy for Hawk right? He has women willing drop to their knees for him, wrong, because Cara is not like any woman he has ever met.

Cara’s character one would say is hardened. I mean you would be too if you caught your fiancé before you are to be married with another woman. Cara has not been the same, but all that changes the night her friend convinces her to go to a biker bar, and she sees the sexy hot beast, Hawk. Cara does not appreciate Hawks vulgar mouth and decides to keep him at arm’s length, even though her body is screaming JUMP HIS BONES!

These two characters have an intense chemistry and their banter was fun and natural. Cara and Hawk are so much alike that they are both stubborn. Neither is willing to back down. Hawk always gets what he wants, and he wants Cara. The more she pushes the more he pulls. Cara and Hawk do not want to admit the truth about how they each feel, but they can’t stay away. When the town’s serial killer sets his eyes on Cara, Hawk is faced with the fact that she is his woman and he will do anything to protect what is his. Cara has to set her distrust aside and let Hawk and the MC into her life to keep her safe, but that also means letting him into her heart as well.

There were so many twists and turns in this book. Just when I thought I had things figured out the author twisted things up. The overall plot and story line was really well developed and held my interest from start to finish. Can Hawk keep his Property “Cara” safe? Just how far will Hawk go to protect what is his? You really need to click this read, it is worth the ride you will take.

Chiah Wilder is the author of Hawk’s Property, the first book in the Insurgents MC Series. It is a full length, standalone novel. Its release date is set for October 27, 2015.

Always a lover of books, she began writing at a young age and continued through college with collections of short stories. Figuring she had to grow up and get a “real” job, her writing was placed on the back burner.

Her love of reading has always be center front in her life. Chiah’s love of bad boys both in and out of fiction has inspired her Insurgents series. She loves an alpha male whose softer side is brought out by a passionate, spirited woman. In fiction there are no rules or boundaries, and fantasies can go as far as the characters want to take them. Steamy, biker romances with rough, sexy bad boys are her guilty pleasure along with brownies, cheddar cheese, and movie marathons.

Returning to writing has been a dream come true. Writing and publishing Hawk’s Property has been an amazing journey, and she is happy to share the Insurgents family with her readers. She is busy writing her next book in the series.

You know going into a KA book what you’ll get. Sometimes everything is to be as expected and sometimes, sometimes it’s not. After loving on the cover a bit more the moment I saw words I was hooked. There was something about the way the story was told that immediately grabbed my attention. You instantly had questions and suddenly had a hunger to know it all. But, our queen only gives us what we need to slowly survive as we progress through Logan a.k.a. High and Millie’s torturous past.

I love the feel of Rock Chick Bikers the Chao’s women have. I love that they can’t listen to their men when they say “Let it go.” I love that they had to get their hands dirty. That made ME want it that much more! Shockingly, the few flashbacks this had actually had me LOVING it. I am not the biggest fan of flashbacks because they either are too much, not enough, and not in the right place. As we get some important history flashbacks I found that they were done with perfection. Without them, the tension and chemistry is vibrant but with the flashback it intensified. All in a good way!!!

High was looking down at her, grinning, his face carefree and happy like I’d never seen it before. Not once.
Not even when he was with his kids.
Not for the ten years I’d known him. I tore my eyes off High and looked at Millie.
She belonged in those arms and she knew it.

“This situation just went from code blue to code freakin’ red.”

The weight of nicknames is a major factor in getting that heavy feeling. The good and bad of what the nicknames mean. Definitely can be cute and swoony and sometimes so substantial it gives greater meaning to the connection the characters have. Kristen Ashley is notorious for using some great nicknames and relating her characters history to their name. In Walk Through Fire, the use of these nicknames defined the levels of involvement with certain characters. It also tickled me pink to know a certain person only used High and that same nickname meant world’s different coming from Millie’s mouth. It’s a tiny thing but for me it’s proof.

Having that name back was like having that man back. Washing away the shit of his life and starting clean.

final walk name high_edited-2

The immediate captivation of Low and Millie’s past was relevant at all times during this Chaos novel. Along with having Tack and the boys around there was no denying the magnetism sexually and mentally between our two main characters. You quickly bore a soft spot for them and wanted it all it work out. The tension, the fighting, the boss man act was displayed with PERFECTION.

As always the side plot that carries through the other Chaos novels stayed low until the last bit of the read. It’s the only piece I felt lacking. I loved that we were able to things go the full effort with Millie and Logan but having the suspense drop was a little too late. I would have liked more. I also would have liked some blood shed. It’s been a while. What I liked most was the involvement of the club AND the women. I really could have had more of that. They knew their place but I liked the environment it set. The bond.

This was a major romantic sacrifice type of novel, what one surrendered and endured for their soul mate. The truth to love. It wasn’t easy for Millie and Logan but it was easy to see. Easy to read the proof. I felt it. Therefore I loved it!

Josie's review

4 stars

Seized by Love is the first book in the Ryder’s series by Melissa Foster and after reading this one, I can’t wait for the rest. SEIZED BY LOVE by Melissa FosterSeized by Love is a spin-off the Love In Bloom series. In this book we get to meet The Ryder Family. Let’s just say this family is interesting and you will fall hard. Seized by Love is told by both Lizzie and Blue’s POV’s. Getting to know these characters was just a pleasure.

Blue Ryder (just a second I need to wipe the drool from my mouth) was everything that I thought his character would be. He is swoon worthy, confident, caring, loyal, and has the biggest heart. He is dedicated to protecting and keeping his family and those he loves safe. Once he lays his eyes on Lizzie Barber, he just has to have her. Blue has been going after Lizzie hard for the past year, and the answer was always the same no, until she finally caves.

Lizzie Barber’s character is the best. She is feisty, strong willed, selfless, smart and very business savvy. Lizzie has managed to make her own way in life, paying for college, and is owner of her own business (actually two). Now she is doing the same for her little sister. Lizzie is very much attracted to Blue, and for the past year she’s denied him, but she can no longer do that.

The relationship between Blue and Lizzie was a very good one, there was not only sexual chemistry but also an intense bond and connection. As they both get to know each other they both begin get to really know one another. They understand the complexities of who the other person is. I loved reading how their relationship blossomed and how they both enjoyed exploring their love. Blue and Lizzie were a perfect match. Their relationship felt natural and their qualities matched their relationship. They were both loyal to those they love. Lizzie is hiding a piece of herself from Blue, one that she is not sure he can deal with. When Blue learns ALL of Lizzie’s truths will he be able to deal with it or will this be the end of Lizzie and Blue?

I really enjoyed how the author gave readers a story that was genuine. I was able picture the characters in my head and related to both their stories. I love a book that has angst, drama and some gut wrenching scenes, but I also enjoy a book that is light and deals with topics and issues that are real. I can’t wait to read more from this author.

Josie's review

I just can’t get enough of the Rebel Wayfarers MC Series. I know I mentioned this in past reviews, but this series just keeps getting better and better. Each book can be read as a standalone, but in order to really get to know this MC and all of their alpha, dominant males, I think it would be best to read them in order. I absolutely love this author’s unique MC writing style. For one the Rebel Wayfarers seems more in touch with reality and deal with issues and topics that tear at my heart. We met Hoss in Jase’s book, and I was drawn to this character, I wanted to learn more about this kind, gentle, caring and fierce member of the Rebel Wayfarers.

I think it is safe to say that when reading this book, prepare for a passionate and exciting read. True to form Maria deMora did not disappoint me at all. After I got through the first 10 pages I was always crying my eyes out, which only led me on a journey to believing, trusting and falling in love with characters that in the past left a bad feeling in my mouth.

Hope and her son Sammy’s life was and is not an easy one. Hope has been on her own for years. She was his sole care taker after her family abandoned her. We meet Hope and Sammy when they are at the lowest point in their lives. I do not want to give too much away, but your heart will break and bleed tears for this mother and son. Hope has intense love and needs to make sure Sammy has what he needs regardless of what little she has or how many jobs she has to have to make it happen. She is the epitome of what every mother all over the world should be. I can’t even express how much respect I have for this character. When Hope has run out of all options she decides to put caution to the wind and travel to get help from her sister. Mercy, a sister she has never met. Hope’s character is one that you can’t help but fall in love with, she is strong, caring, and so good. When she loves, she loves fiercely. Hope’s life has not been kind to her so her expectations aren’t very high, she expects things to go south quickly.

Hoss, wow as soon as he sees Hope and her son all he wants to do is help and protect them, but he also wants to keep her away from the dangerous life he leads. Hoss takes interest in Hope and Sam and from a far makes sure they are taken care of. Hoss is an alpha male all the way, but he is also very caring and sweet. In his MC life he has always taken what he wants, but with Hope and Sam he knows he has to take a different approach. I loved Hoss’ character. He is not perfect, he makes mistakes, which makes his character more believable, more human.

A special treat for me was, getting a POV from Sammy. To say it was an interesting twist is putting it mildly. To get into this young boy’s mind and see how much of his life has affected him blew my mind. The road to happiness for Hope and Hoss is a hard one. Hoss has to learn that Sam and Hope are used to being let down so he has to show them that they are HIS priority. Hope is so used to doing things alone it’s hard for her deal with being part of the Rebel Wayfarer’s family as Hoss’ woman. Hope must learn to rely and trust in others. Can these three characters find a family they yearn for? Can Hope fully open her heart and trust Hoss with all her heart? Can Hoss show Hope and Sam just how important they are too him, while still being a brother to the Rebel Wayfarer’s? If you are a fan of this series than this is a must read. If you haven’t started this series than what are you waiting for? You won’t be disappointed.

From Chapter 12: Running

Hoss smiled, leaning back into the couch cushions, his arm around Hope’s shoulders. Dinnertime at Jase and DeeDee’s house was wild, loud, chaotic, and entertaining. Bingo was back in the hospital, but his kids were in residence, which meant tonight there were eleven small bodies running around, aged fifteen and down. Nine, a mix of boys and girls, were Bingo’s tribe, one boy belonged to Jase and DeeDee, and one was his and Hope’s boy. His breath stuck in his chest for a moment, because he liked how that sounded in his head, ‘his and Hope’s boy.’
When they arrived for dinner, Sammy had raced up and hugged his mother then stepped back. Looking up, he stood in front of Hoss, shifting from foot to foot, staring into his face. His features twisted into something that looked like sadness as he asked, “Did you and Mom have a good day?”
Hoss had frowned, crouching down so he was on Sammy’s level when he answered, “Yeah, the best. How about you?” Tentatively, he reached out, cupping his hand around Sammy’s shoulder, asking, “Did you have fun with Jonny and Kane?” No way could Hoss miss how the boy leaned into the hold, his shoulders lowering a couple inches as he relaxed.
“Yeah, we had a great time. Coach Spence took us to the rink.” He cut his gaze up to his mother, and Hoss twisted so he could see her face, too. “He said he has a Sammy-sized opening on his league team, Mom.” That was all he said, and Hoss watched a flash of pain cross Hope’s face at his hesitation.
“I talked to him on the phone today, bud. He has this deal for friends and family”—she switched to a poor imitation of a New Jersey accent—“and he made me an offer I couldn’t refuse.” She grinned, and he caught Sammy’s matching smile from the corner of his eye. “I’ll sort things out with him tonight, see what kind of schedule we’re looking at, and what I can commit to for equipment, okay?”
Hoss felt more of the tension leave the kid’s muscles as he told his mother, “Yeah.” That single, soft word conveyed an understanding that if she could work it out, she would, and if she couldn’t, then the boy wouldn’t blame her, because he trusted she would always do her best. These two had a bond that seemed unshakable, having no one else to depend on for so long. In Sammy’s case, his whole life.
He was hit yet again by how alone in the world they had been, no one to have their back, no one to give a hand when they hit bottom. Only each other, ever.

Honor, integrity, and loyalty are how Deputy US Marshal Kreed Sinacola lives his life. A former SEAL now employed by the Special Operations Group of the US Marshal Service, Kreed spent most of his life working covert operations and avoiding relationships. Never one to mix business with pleasure, his boundaries blur and his convictions are put to the test when he finally comes face-to-face with the hot computer geek he’s been partnered with. Hell-bent on closing the ongoing case for his longtime friend, he pushes past his own limits and uncovers more than he expects.

Aaron Stuart strives for one thing: justice. Young and full of idealism, his highly sought after computer skills land him a position with the National Security Agency. Aaron’s biggest hazard at his job is cramped fingers, but all that changes when he is drawn into the middle of a dangerous federal investigation. Aaron gets more than he bargained for when the FBI partners him with a handsome and tempting deputy US marshal. His attraction to the inked up, dark-haired man provides another kind of threat altogether. Aaron tries desperately to place a firewall around his heart and fight his developing feelings, knowing one misstep on his part could ultimately destroy him.

The solution isn’t as easy as solving the case, which is treacherous enough as it is. But the growing sexual attraction between them threatens to derail more than just Kreed’s personal convictions as he quickly learns temptation and matters of the heart rarely fit easily into the rules he’s lived by. Will Kreed be able to convince Aaron to open his heart and face the fact that sometimes the answers aren’t always hidden in code?

I live in the suburbs of Dallas where it’s true, the only thing bigger than an over active imagination, may be women’s hair!

Usually, I try for funny. Humor is a major part of my life – I love to laugh, and it seems to be the thing I do in most situations – regardless of the situation, but jokes are a tricky deal… I don’t want to offend anyone and jokes tend to offend. So instead I’m going to tell you about Kindle.

I tragically lost my sixteen year old daughter to a drunk driver. She had just been at home, it was early in the night and I heard the accident happen. I’ll never forget that moment. The sirens were immediate and something inside me just knew. I left my house, drove straight to the accident on nothing more than instinct. I got to be there when my little girl died – weirdly, I consider that a true gift from above. She didn’t have to be alone.

That time in my life was terrible. It’s everything you think it would be times about a billion. I love that kid. I loved being her mother and I loved watching her grow into this incredibly beautiful person, both inside and out. She was such a gift to me. To have it all ripped away so suddenly broke me.

Her name was Kindle. Honest to goodness – it was her name and she died a few weeks before Amazon released their brand new Kindle ereader. She had no idea it was coming out and she would have finally gotten her name on something! Try finding a ruler with the name Kindle on it.. It never happened.

Through the course of that crippling event I was lucky enough to begin to write with a dear friend in the fan fiction world of Facebook. She got me through those dark days with her unwavering support and friendship. There wasn’t a time she wasn’t there for me. Sometimes together and sometimes by myself, we built a world where Kindle lives and stands for peace, love and harmony. It’s its own kind of support group. I know without question I wouldn’t be here today without her.

New Release: Taking Connor by BN Toler

There’s a stereotype for how a convicted felon appears to the public.

Connor Stevens fit that bill.

His reputation preceded him. With a hard body and vivid tattoos dispersed across his flesh, he certainly drew the judgmental eyes of conservative tight-asses. Even I had those same thoughts…regardless of how highly Blake spoke of him.

But those opinions were about to be challenged.

I’d promised to pick Connor up from prison—where he’d served eight years for manslaughter. When Blake passed away, I had every intention of honoring our agreement. Taking Connor home would be my ultimate show of gratitude. Blake never disclosed why Connor killed a man, and I never had the guts to ask. Ever daunted, and against my better judgment, I soon grew to feel close to Connor, in spite of how perverse it was. Still, I vowed to brush off those feelings at all costs.

At least I thought I would. Until all hell broke loose…

Diving head-first, I relished in the time spent in Connor’s damnation. But when he was thrust into hell, it didn’t matter how wrong it was to love him. It was immaterial what he’d done…or why. I came out swinging and clawing, and submerged into the inferno with him, refusing to leave until we both walked out hand in hand. My instinct was to fight.

Connor wouldn’t burn alone.

I would save him.

Or turn to ash right beside him.

She loves music,(bluegrass, country, 80’s, actually she loves most music ~her favorite song is American Pie by Don McLean and she worships anything that is Elvis and Johnny Cash and Eric Church) dancing, (even though she sucks at it)reading, writing, eating (too much) sleeping late, (which she rarely gets to do) and laughing. If you can make her laugh, she will love you forever.

Maybe there’s only one direction to go when two people fall

in love at rock bottom—up.

Amazon US:

the fall up cover ebook

I wanted to jump.

He made me fall.

As a celebrity, I lived in the public eye, but somewhere along the way, I’d lost myself in the spotlight.

Until he found me.

Sam Rivers was a gorgeous, tattooed stranger who saved my life with nothing more than a simple conversation.

But we were both standing on that bridge for a reason the night we met. The secrets of our pasts brought us together—and then tore us apart.

Could we find a reason to hold on as life constantly pulled us down?

Or maybe there’s only one direction to go when two people fall in love at rock bottom—up.

Sensual woman kissing her handsome husband

“Thank fuck!” Sam said, swinging the door open before Devon even had the car in park.

“Oh, this isn’t my place. We’re just dropping Devon off. I’m about twenty minutes across town?” I tossed him a sugary smile then boldly shifted my hand into his lap, purposely brushing the bulge under his denim.

Grabbing my wrist, he narrowed his eyes and called out, “Devon, I’m gonna need to borrow a bedroom.”

I burst out laughing as Devon cursed loudly.

“Fine. This is my place. No smoking inside though,” I snipped as I climbed from the SUV.

“You better have some seriously exciting extracurricular activities to keep me distracted, then.”

“I have Ping-Pong!”

“Not exactly what I was thinking.” He mischievously cocked his head. “But I guess paddles and balls are as good a start as any.” Dipping down, he hoisted me over his shoulder. “Point me to the Ping-Pong table, my lady.”

I didn’t. I laughed hysterically as he carried me inside. Then I directed him to my bedroom instead.

I heard Devon locking up the house as Sam deposited me on the bed.

“Jesus. This view.” He pushed the curtains back. “Why the hell would you ever go up to the bridge when you have this here?”

“I don’t know,” I answered, pulling my earrings off and placing them on my nightstand.

Oh, but I knew. It might not have been what had originally sent me up that bridge, but it was why my feet carried me back every night. And that very reason was currently standing in front of me with entirely too much clothing on.

“You want a beer?” I asked, sliding my shoes off.

“Nah, I’m good.” He faced me, and I could tell something was off with his demeanor. He didn’t inch any closer. Instead, his lips were tight and his eyes uncomfortably flashed around the room.

It suddenly didn’t feel like Sam standing in front of me at all.

He felt like a stranger who had just come face-to-face with Levee Williams.

Damn it.

“Why are you looking at me like that? Are you about to freak out?” I whispered, nervously moistening my lips.

He shoved his hands into his pockets. “I’m not really sure yet. But I’m gonna need you to stop licking your lips long enough for me to figure it out.” His mouth cracked into a wide grin, and my shoulders relaxed.

Now that was a flash of my Sam.

“Want to tell me what’s going on?” I asked.

“It’s just… I think this is the first time I’ve realized that you’re some big-time celebrity. I might be in over my head here, Designer Shoes.”

“I just make music, Sam.” I returned his smile and very slowly prowled in his direction. “Imagine how I feel though. You’re Samuel Nathan Rivers. A tough, tattooed furniture designer who makes six figures a year but is too afraid to tell his mommy he votes democratic.” I giggled as he frowned humorously. Stopping in front of him, I dragged a fingernail down his chest then teased the waistband of his jeans. “Have you considered that maybe I’m the one who’s in over her head here?” I leaned forward to nip at his lips, but he spun us around.

“Excellent point. I’m going to need you to try really hard to keep it together, Levee. You haven’t even seen my six-pack and huge cock, yet.” He smirked and attempted to return my nip, but I stepped out of his reach.

“You brought beer and chicken?” I feigned excitement.

That one corny joke was all it took to bring my Sam back completely.

With a sexy smile and a coy shrug, he seductively backed me toward the bed. “What can I say? I like to be prepared.”

“Clearly,” I breathed.

He moved in close so his lips were only a centimeter away, but for as much as I wanted him, it was agonizing. “Clearly,” he repeated, his smoky yet sweet breath breezing across my mouth.

His strong arm looped around my waist, tugging me against his chest, while I stared into his hooded eyes, eagerly waiting for him to make a move.

Any move.

Every move.

Tara's review

5 stars

5 ‘I’d like to struggle with you.’ Stars

If I had 5 words to match my rating for this book they would be…

Levee is famous, Sam is not. The meet on a bridge, each with their own reasons for being there. She’s falling, he’s scooping her up. The collision is inevitable but not withstanding.

“From the moment I first met you, you made the world lighter.”

Sam fell for Levee long before he knew who she was. Her fame meant nothing to him, she would always be his ‘Designer Shoes’. Yet, the fame he cared nothing about was the exact thing that may take her away from him.

“I get it. You don’t know me, but in some ways, that makes me the perfect person to talk to. So, please, I’m begging you. Tell me what’s going on with you. Just give me your story. I’m not here to judge.”

As I sit here on a crisp October morning reflecting on this book, I can unequivocally say ‘ The Fall Up’ will rank high on my top 5 read list for 2015.

Aly takes us on a journey of healing and love, like no other I have ever read. The characters could easily share a dinner table with me any day of the week. Sam is the epitome of perfection, from his caring soul to his witty sarcastic come backs. I was instantly in love.

Levee and Sam have the type of relationship that couples should aspire for. While the subject matter of this story can be hard, Aly injected the perfect amount of humor to balance things out.

” You haven’t even seen my six-pack and huge cock, yet.” He smirked and attempted to return my nip, but I stepped out of his reach.

“You brought beer and chicken?”

There was nothing about this book that I did not like, the flow was flawless, the story was heartfelt, and the message strong. There is nothing typical about this love story.

I miss Levee and Sam already, and can only hope they make an appearance in something down the line.

*If the subject of suicide is a trigger for you, this may not be the book for you*

Josie's review

4 stars

This is my first time reading a book by Lisa Becker, but I will admit the synopsis caught my eye and I just couldn’t wait to get my hands on it. Clutch is a short read, about 140 pages but I did not feel as though anything was missing from the story. The story is told mostly by Caroline but we get some of Mike’s as well. Clutch is a woman’s novel, the humor is LOL funny and so is the main characters journey to finding love.

I enjoyed how the author titled each chapter in the book. Each chapter is names after a specific style of a purse. Once you get through each chapter you will understand the significance of the bag. Caroline and Mike have been best friends since Harvard, both have followed their dreams and are now living in LA. Mike did not follow his family’s business but instead went on to open his own bar “The Last Drop”. Carolina has her very own line of hand bags called “The Clutch”.

Caroline wants to find a man that will love and cherish her, she doesn’t understand why it is hard for her. We follow Caroline on her journey of trying to find THE MAN. Let me tell her journey was funny, but there were times where it upset me and tested my patience. What I enjoyed the most about this story is the relationship Mike and Caroline shared. They were very open and honest, shared everything together, were always there for each other and each sought the others approval on everything pertaining to their lives. The banter between the two was hilarious and it really felt natural. Throughout this story we start to see changes in Caroline. She becomes more confident in what she wants and she becomes more assertive in getting it. Mike also starts to show changes in his behavior. I loved his character before but with these changes my heart opened up more to this man. Over this journey neither thinks to date, just to remain best friends, but what happens when what you’ve been looking for is standing right in front of you all this time?

In addition to clutch: a novel, Lisa Becker is the author of the Click Trilogy, a contemporary romance series comprised of Click: An Online Love Story, Double Click and Right Click. She’s written bylined articles about dating and relationships for “Cupid’s Pulse,” “The Perfect Soulmate,” “GalTime,” “Single Edition,” “Healthy B Daily” and “Chick Lit Central” among others.
