New York’s Finest #2
Lauren Layne
Releasing Nov 24th, 2015

Being a cop might be in Anthony Moretti’s blood, but protecting and serving the city of New York has always been more than just the family business. If that means his love life stays locked up, well then that’s just another sacrifice made in the line of duty. That is, until he sets eyes on the gorgeous new waitress at The Darby Diner and suddenly Anthony’s morning coffee is leaving him a whole lot more hot and bothered than usual.

Though waitressing at The Darby isn’t exactly Maggie Walker’s dream job, it pays the bills and gives her time to work on her novel. Now if only she could stop fantasizing about gorgeous Anthony Moretti every time he sits down at her table, she’d really be in great shape. But when he needs her help identifying a criminal threatening The Darby—and Maggie recognizes her ex-husband—she fears her fresh start might be a pipe dream. Faster than a New York minute, Maggie and Anthony find themselves in one perilous pursuit that only gets hotter with each and every rule-breaking kiss.

Steal Me Teaser 10

Maggie Walker had become their default waitress at the diner back when their old waitress Helen had retired a couple months ago. And while Anthony missed Helen and her too-strong floral perfume, he had to admit that Maggie was the better to look at.

She had a wholesome, girl-next-door look that appealed to him mightily. Brown hair that was always on the verge of slipping out of its ponytail, wide, compelling green eyes that made you want to unload all your darkest secrets.

Curvy. Hips that were exactly right;, breasts that were even better.

And then there was that smile. It managed to be both shy and friendly, which was handy because he was betting it was very hard for even the most impatient customers to get annoyed at her.

But Anth didn’t buy the doing-my-best routine, and seeing as she was dealing with an entire table of observant cops, he was betting the rest of his family wouldn’t buy it either.

Then Luc leaned forward and gave Maggie an easy grin. “Don’t even worry about it, Mags. Didn’t even notice I was running low!”

Luc’s girlfriend, Ava, smoothly reached up one hand and swatted him on the back of the head, the gesture so graceful, so practiced, that she never once sloshed her coffee. Anthony nearly smiled.

To say that Ava Sims was good for his little brother would be an understatement. The big brother in Anthony would be forever grateful that the gorgeous reporter had helped Luc vanquish his demons. But the big brother in Anth was also grateful that Ava helped keep his younger brother in line. Or at least tried to.

He rolled his eyes as Luc shot a guilty smile at his girlfriend, but even as he slid his mug towards the edge of the table so Maggie wouldn’t have to reach as far.

Then Anth watched in utter dismay as Vincent did the same.

Vincent. The guy who’d practically devoted his life to being perverse, was trying to make life easier for their inept waitress.

Anthony was so busy trying to figure out what about the frazzled waitress turned his brothers into a bunch of softies that he didn’t think to move his own mug to be more convenient, and Maggie had to lean all the way in to top off his cup.

It was a feat that their old waitress could have handled readily, but Helen had retired months ago and for reasons that Luc didn’t understand, the rest of the Moretti family had embraced Maggie as Helen’s replacement.

Anthony didn’t realize that his mug had overflowed until scalding coffee dripped onto his thigh.

“Son of a—”

He caught himself before he could finish the expletive, grabbing a large handful of napkins from the silver dispenser and trying to soak up the puddle of coffee on his jeans before it burned his skin.

“Nice, Anth,” Elena said, tossing another bunch of napkins at him. Like this was his fault.

“Oh my God,” Maggie said, her voice horrified. “I’m so sorry, Officer…”

“It’s Captain,” he snapped, his eyes flicking up and meeting hers.

Silence descended over the table until Vincent muttered douchebag around a coughing fit.

But Anthony refused to feel chagrined. The woman had waited on the family every Sunday for weeks; one would think she could get his title right. To say nothing of mastering the art of pouring coffee.

Debbie's review

4 stars

This is the second book in this series and I could not wait to dig in because that first one ended in a HUGE CLIFFHANGER!!!

This book picked up where the first one left off and right away I was at the edge of my see waiting for all the questions to be answered. I loved the plot twists that the authors threw at me. I few of them I thought were well thought out and really made sense and kept me turning the pages to find out what was going to happen next.

“I know about my gun and the bullet casings. I know Pistol is missing, and I know we’re all in danger.”

“The face that used to bring me peace has been replaced by the haunting reality of one bad decision. My reckless driving didn’t just ruin my girl; it destroyed all of my friends. I can’t believe that a tiny twist of fate could tear apart everything we had.”

The book flowed really well and I loved that you got to be inside Caden’s head and you were able to experience first hand what he went through after the tragic accident. The story felt realistic and the book was written so well I had no problem connecting with all the characters. Loved the chemistry between Caden and Avery otherwise known as….Tangles. Her character was probably my favorite in this book. She said what was on her mind and didn’t take crap from anyone. I loved her spunk.

The book is fast paced and kept me on the edge of my seat. The ending has me sitting here waiting for the next book to be released because I need to what is going to happen next.

Title: Lucky Penny

 Release Date: November 30, 2015

I was his lucky Penny. He was my light in the dark, hope in despair. Our bond was one of survival, friendship… first love. But then we were ripped apart and Blake Weston became the memory I turned to when everything else in my life fell apart.Seven years later, a summer working at Camp Chance is supposed to be my fresh start. Beautiful scenery and the chance to better the lives of foster children–kids like me. But when my eyes land on him across the fire, time stands still and feelings come rushing back to the surface. I thought I’d moved on, tucked him away in my heart. One look into his soulful blue eyes and I know I’m wrong. Blake Weston can heal the broken parts of me. Restore my hope. Love me.

It’s our second chance. A sign we are supposed to be together.

Isn’t it?

I was twelve when I survived the accident that killed my parents. Fourteen when I survived the devil. And sixteen, when I survived a heartbreak of the worst kind.

But in my twenty-three years, Blake Weston might just be the first thing I won’t survive.

Marissa didn’t follow me. It was most likely she had pieced together our story after Blake’s song. How could she not? It was as if he had weaved our entire relationship into his lyrics. I could feel his sixteen-year-old self singing every line to my sixteen-year-old self. Although, I was pretty certain the sixteen-year-old Blake I’d known then had no clue how to play the guitar. After washing the tearstains from my face, I brushed my teeth. It was still early, but I couldn’t face going back out there, so I changed into my shorts and tank top and climbed into bed. Sleep would be impossible, but at least here, I was safe.

Most people felt lonely in solitude, but I welcomed the silence. I embraced it even. Something about the quiet, the knowledge no one else was around, comforted me. I knew it made me different. I didn’t need a shrink to tell me that, but it didn’t change the fact that I found sanctuary in being alone.

I lay there not really allowing myself to think. Thinking was dangerous; it led to remembering, and my memories were stained with pain and hurt and the kinds of things that made most people’s nightmares look like a walk in the park. Instead, I tracked the uneven cabin ceiling. My eyes followed the planes of the wood from one end to the other and back again until they grew heavy.

A knock on the door startled me sending my already restless heart into overdrive and I rubbed at my eyes.

“Hello?” I called out hoping to hear Marissa’s voice, but I knew it wasn’t her. She wouldn’t have knocked; she would have barged right in and demanded answers.

“Penny, it’s me.”

I squeezed my eyes shut, but my mind betrayed me as an image of Blake’s face filled my head.

Another knock.

Forcing myself to sit up, I swung my legs over the edge of the bed. He wasn’t going away. Blake—our connection—was something I was going to have to deal with sooner or later, and from Blake’s admissions over the last few days, it seemed that he was making the decision for me.

My legs were like lead as I walked to the door. It swung open and Blake stood there looking at me with such reverence in his eyes I almost crumpled. Maybe I did crumple because, before my head had time to process what was happening, I was in Blake’s arms, and he was holding on to me like he needed me to breathe.

“I’ve missed you so much. I’ve tried to stay away, to give you space, but I can’t. I can’t spend another day feeling like you might slip through my fingers again.”

One of Blake’s hands buried itself in my hair and cradled my head holding me to him. My face pressed up against the collar of his hoodie, and I breathed him in. He smelled familiar, like damp grass and fresh air, of a time when things were less complicated, and my heart ached for us. At that moment, we weren’t two strangers reunited by chance; we were sixteen-year-old Blake and Penny.

And we needed each other to survive.

“I wanted to give her the moon and the stars and everything between.”

When your past is filled with sorrow, moving on is not always easy to do. Penny and Blake can attest to that fact.

When Penny’s parents are killed in a car wreck, she is forced into foster care. There she meets Blake, a rough around the edges no non-sense kid who sees the spark in Penny’s eyes, even when she doesn’t. During their time together, they form a bond that they vow to never have broken. That is until the day Blake is gone, and Penny is left to fend for herself.

Several years later, Penny and Blake end up as camp counselors at Camp Chance, a summer camp for fostered teenagers. Penny struggles with forgiving Blake for “leaving her”, and can’t seem to move past the past. In the blink of an eye, again Blake is gone and Penny is left to wonder.

Returning back to normal life, Penny takes a job that puts her in direct contact with Blake once again. This time though, he is not the Blake she has always known. His new life, the side of him she never imagined is almost too much to bear. And so begins the journey for both Penny and Blake to let go of the past and start creating a future.

“I needed her to know that she was my lucky Penny. She always would be.”

This book!!!! Everything about this book made my heart break and swoon all at the same time. The characters were written in such a way that they could have been your neighbor or friend. The story line was extremely well written and I felt like I was living in the book the entire time. There were times where I was wiping away the tears and wanting to wrap my arms around Penny and hold her tight. The passion between the main characters were so deep that I was forced to feel the pain for them during the rough times.

I have read everything by this author, she is a definite go to author for me. If you haven’t ready anything by her yet, get to it, you will not be disappointed. This book is a great place to start, as this was without a doubt the best I have read from her. She progressively gets better and better with each new story she gives us.

Can a jock find love with a hot little hipster? Opposites attract, but secrets divide.

Ronnie Durand is a country boy who transfers to the University of Washington after two years at Central. He’ll have to give up playing football, though finishing his education at a major university in Seattle – and being out and proud without having to look over his shoulder – makes the sacrifice worthwhile.

But finding friends at a huge school is tough, especially when the hottest guy Ronnie meets makes him doubt his own sanity.

Sang’s been on his own a long time. He’s only a couple steps away from living on the street, and he’s got dreams so big they don’t leave space for a steady boyfriend. Then he meets Ronnie, who just might be strong enough to break through his barriers….as long as Sang lets him in on one big secret.

Vietnamese cooking…

It’s warm enough for shorts and a t-shirt, and the campus is relatively quiet except for a handful of die-hard election enthusiasts who are still passing out flyers in front of the HUB. I ignore the idiots pushing their anti-gay marriage agenda, and sidestep the fans of Senator Whozit. My freakishly liberal mother married a small town Republican, so I grew up taking the fifth on political stuff, more of an agnostic than an actual atheist. I pretty much can’t open my mouth without being accused of siding with one of them, so I keep it shut.

But I do grab a pamphlet explaining why marijuana should be legal, because duh.

The Ave is busier than the campus, mostly with college kids wandering through the pizza places to the used book stores to the faded pubs. A steady stream of cars rolls past, blunting the crisp fall air with exhaust. I’m about to duck into the College Inn Pub when Sang comes around the corner of 40th St.

Surprise hits me harder than the coffee I had for breakfast, fading to a rock-hard blast of desire. His long hair is twisted into a bun and secured with a pair of glossy black sticks. His faded gray tunic hits him about mid-thigh, his legs are bare, and he’s wearing a beat-up pair of Dr. Martens and a long feathered earring. Maybe I’m weird, but I want him in all his freaky, funky beauty.

I cross my arms and wait. There’s no place for him to go except right past me. Across the street, someone bursts out cursing and a driver lays on their car’s horn. I glance over. No blood. I glance back. No Sang. Dammit. There’s only one store between me and where I saw him last, and it’s one of those one-off Asian places where the window’s crowded with candies and porcelain bowls and small brass Buddhas. Nowhere else he could have gone, so I push through the door.

The light is much dimmer than outside, and it takes me a minute to adjust. I catch a flash of white in the corner, Sang’s feather. He’s contemplating a display of colored packages, but all the labels are in some other language, so I don’t know what they are. I walk up behind him, close enough to pick up his unique scent through the store’s incense and sesame oil smell.

“Don’t crowd me, Sugar Cookie.” He doesn’t turn around.

Right. I take another step, close enough for the hem of his skirt to brush against my shorts.

He spins around and puts his hand on my chest. “What are you doing?” He sounds indignant, but his eyes are laughing.

And his smile strips me bare.

“I was thinking about grabbing a beer next door.” I flick the feather with my index finger. “Wanna join me?”

His smile softens, and he tugs my hand away from his earring, lacing our fingers together. “I’m sorry, baby. I can’t. I’m working today.”

“What are you doing? Do you live down here?” So many questions. Finding him on The Ave pretty much convinces me his “I don’t go to UW” line is bullshit.

He brushes my knuckles against his cheek. “I wish I had time to play.” He spins back around. “I’m just grabbing something quick for lunch.”

Frustration forces me back a little. “Okay well, maybe I should grab something, too. The Husky game starts in about an hour.”

“Are you going to watch the Seahawks tomorrow?” He slides a glance over his shoulder and flicks his fingers so I can see his team-colors manicure.

I almost say “only if you’ll watch it with me”, but I don’t want to get shot down again. “Yeah, if I get my homework done.”

“Good. They’re playing Denver, you know, and I hate the Broncos.”

Talking football with my favorite freak surrounded by a store full of Made In China is a little surreal. My head’s pretty spun when he grabs a bag off the rack and shoves it at me.

“Here,” he says, grinning so hard he’s almost giving himself a dimple. “You need some of this.”

The bag is full of little brown balls about the size of peas. “What is it?”

“Bap chien gion. Like corn nuts.”

He’s still digging through the racks, flipping from package to package. “This one, too.” He tosses something back at me.

I do my best to read the label. “Moot dow tai.”

“Mut dau tay.” He echoes me, but the words sound nothing like mine.

“Is this Chinese or something?”

He gives me an exasperated look over his shoulder and twitches his ass so it bumps against my thighs. “Vietnamese, Cookie.”

I feel sorta stupid. I’ve never met anyone from Vietnam before. Still holding the last package he’s handed me, I ask “What are these red things?”

“Strawberry candy. I love them.”

Might be a weird combination with the beer I’d been planning to drink during the Husky game, but I don’t want to offend him a second time. If I even offended him the first time. It’s hard to tell. His energy is as changeable as a river when there are clouds overhead, sometimes sparkling but other times dark as pitch.

“This one’s good, too. Hat sen sey kho. Fried lotus seeds.” He spins, hands it to me, too close, making it hard for me to breathe. He grabs a couple more for himself and steps up until he’s pressed against me. “Come on, Cookie. Get out of the way so I can pay for this.” He snuggles his nose against my chest, humming so I can feel the vibration in my sternum.

“I gotta get back to work.” His body and his mouth are saying such completely different things that I can’t move, don’t know how to respond. After a moment he sighs and steps around me. “If I go out tonight, it won’t be until very late. I have to work.”

Hope and disappointment have an MMA bout in my gut. “Don’t know if I’ll go out at all.”

“Maybe I’ll see you next week some time, then.”

Hope gets the upper hand. “Will you?”

“What?” His feather flutters in a sudden breeze.

“See me next week?”

“If you get very, very lucky.” He slides some cash to the shriveled old woman behind the register. She speaks to him in Vietnamese, and he laughs and answers back. Then he’s gone, but when I go to pay for the snacks he’s chosen for me, I find out he already did.

My story isn’t a love story … not the typical kind anyway.

As a lawyer, I’m used to discovery, but I never saw this one coming.

Every day, River gives me ten reasons to stay away, and then eleven reasons why I can’t. Our relationship was to remain strictly business, or at least I tried.

Four years of marriage, and everything with Cole has changed. I never knew two people who lived together could be so distant. But I’m not ready to give up on him.

One man wants to break me.

The other is just trying to get even.

Both are lying to me.

Break Even-final

“Cole!” I scream, curling my fingers around the edge of the counter. He pulls out slowly then thrusts back inside me; there’s nothing soft and tender about it.

During the first few years of our marriage he made love to me. His lips would brush against my skin from head to toe and his hands would caress my inner thighs until I ached for him to be inside of me.

          He’d tease.

He had me gasping for breath before he even reached where I needed him most.

He knew exactly how I liked it; it was insane bliss. It was the reason I sped home from work every night. It was one of the reasons I knew he was the one—our maddening physical connection translated into every aspect of our relationship. Every last inch of me was wrapped around him. Everything: heart, soul, and body.

He pushes in again until it aches, burying his head deep in the crook of my neck.

“Don’t stop,” I moan, slipping my fingers between us. I need to come so badly. Three weeks and four days… that’s how long it’s been.

Sex isn’t about me lately, and it hasn’t been for a while.

His teeth dig into my skin. “I can’t stop myself, baby. You feel so good.”

“Cole, please,” I beg, rubbing my fingers in circles. If he notices, he doesn’t acknowledge my need.

He thrusts all the way in. “Christ, Marley,” he murmurs against my skin as he releases into me. My heart sinks, but my desire is stuck at an all time high.

My orgasms have become as rare as a full moon. In less than an hour, it will be three weeks and five days since I last felt what it was like to clench around him over and over again.

My breathing is heavy. My fingers still. His head still pressed against my neck as his fingers run gently along my spine.

“Did I hurt you?” he whispers against my skin.

          Not the way you’re thinking.

all that's left to hold onto teaser 1

There were nasty looking bruises on his cheek and jaw, his lip was swollen and his knuckles were scraped and bloody. The instant I got a good look at his face I knew something was horribly wrong. It only went downhill from there.

My attempts to contain my panic weren’t working. Choking back a sob I blubbered, “Why do you have to go?”

The anger was all but pouring off of him. Not toward me—he’d never once been angry with me. I knew anger though, and it was more than obvious he was furious about something. A permanent grimace seemed to have set up camp on his face. For him, it was highly unusual. Even in the toughest of times, he kept his cool.

Suddenly, he wasn’t calm at all. He was angrier than I’d ever seen him. It was obvious he’d been in a fight, but it didn’t change his status as the most attractive guy alive, in my opinion.

I saw his jaw clenching and unclenching which I figured meant he was trying to control himself.

“Because this piece of shit town is like a fucking cancer,” he spat. “I’m so done with the crazy assholes around here. People like us aren’t normal—we’re the freaks for trying to be good people.”

I didn’t know how to argue with his words. He wasn’t wrong—there was a lot wrong with many of the people in our town. Most of the crazy people were either my family members or his. I knew it and so did he. There wasn’t a response to erase the reality of the kind of people we dealt with.

“Are you going alone?”

His hands clenched into fists at his sides as he nodded stiffly. “Yes.”

“Even though you live with—”

His hand shot up into a stop gesture to keep me from finishing the sentence.

“Don’t say her fucking name. If I never hear it again, it’ll be too soon. I don’t live with that crazy bitch anymore.”

I couldn’t stand her so it wasn’t like I was going to push. She was an evil troll. If he had to go, I was glad he wasn’t taking her with him. It would’ve made me ill. She pretended to be sweetness and light when he was around but it was nothing but a charade. She was terrible. I was glad he wasn’t taking her, but the fact he wouldn’t say her name told me his leaving was somehow her responsibility. I hated her more than ever.

“Where will you go?”

He gestured back over his shoulder toward the street with his thumb.

“Wherever my car takes me once I pull out,” he said.

I couldn’t imagine life without him, nor did I want to. Not only had he been my crush for as long as I could remember, he was the only person who ever really listened to me.

“Will you ever visit?” I asked hopefully.

He was shaking his head in the negative before I’d even fully finished asking the question. I knew he wouldn’t. The bone-deep hatred he had for everything about where we lived was stamped all over his face. I wanted so badly to know what, exactly, had sent him over the edge, but when I asked, he’d refused to tell me.

It sucked being fourteen because he treated me like a kid. My age said I was a child, but I was so different than any of my peers it wasn’t even funny. Because of this, they teased me often, referring to me as Granny Carmichael. I hated it. It wasn’t as though I’d had a choice. My childhood was over the moment my mother got sick.

His expression softened when he looked me over. “You need to get back inside before you get pneumonia.”

The frigid Colorado air wasn’t even making an impression on me until he pointed it out. I realized my tears were leaving cold trails on my face, but I couldn’t walk away. All I cared about was how much I didn’t want him to leave.

“I don’t care about the cold or getting pneumonia. I don’t want you to go!” I cried anxiously.

He hugged me then, his strong arms wrapping around me to give comfort. I hadn’t hugged him since I’d been much younger—probably five or six. Those hugs had mostly involved me wrapping myself around one of his legs. This was different. I wrapped my arms tight around him and cried against his chest, holding on for as long as he allowed me to.

“I’m sorry,” he said as he ended the embrace and stepped back. “I have to leave.”

Knowing my denial and resistance weren’t going to make any difference, I swiped at my tears as I nodded.

“I’ll miss you,” I said on a choked sob. “Take care of yourself.”

“I’ll miss you too,” he replied softly. “You’re one of the few good people here.”

My heart galloped in my chest. I loved him for saying what he did—but hated that it came at such a horrible price. Losing him was unbearable.

He turned as if to leave, then stopped. Spinning back my way, he stared at me intently for a few moments before he spoke again.

“You’re so much better than any of these people. Don’t ever let them change who you are. The world needs a lot more you and a lot less them. No matter what anyone tells you—you’re perfect. Got it?”

I nodded as I wiped at the tears running unchecked down my face.

He hugged me again, very briefly. My heart skipped a few beats when he dropped a kiss on top of my head.

“Don’t ever forget your worth—not even for a minute,” he murmured.

When he let go, he said nothing else. He just turned and walked to his car. As he went, the chill in the air suddenly took hold of me. Hugging my arms around myself, I watched as he got into the car, turned it on and then pulled out of my driveway. He looked at me one last time before putting his hand up in a goodbye gesture. I did the same. A few seconds passed before he put the car in drive then sped off into the night.

I stayed outside for two or three minutes, hoping against hope he would change his mind and come back.

He didn’t.

Hours later when I got into bed, I prayed fate would bring him back one day. I said the same prayer most nights for a long, long time. Eventually I had no choice but to accept reality.

Hell would freeze over before he returned.

All That’s Left to Hold Onto is an intense emotional painful story! Ella Fox managed to strip me down emotionally as I read Ronan and Keeley’s story because throughout this story I experienced so many different emotions. Ms. Fox has a magnificent and exquisite writing style, and every page kept me spellbound. This book was such a beautiful love story that also was filled with grit and angst.

Ronan left his hometown of Colorado five years ago after experiencing a brutal betrayal by his fiancé, Tiffany. Ronan was determined to never look back, but that all changes with just one phone call. Ronan’s has to go back to Colorado after learning his brother and his wife were killed in a car accident and the two remaining survivors need his help. Ronan becomes guardian to his niece and a caregiver to Keely.

From very early on in Keely’s life and things at home were not good. She did not have a good relationship with her sister and her father. The light in her life was Ronan, but after he abruptly left 5 years ago, her life changed drastically. When Keely finally starts to make a life of her own her sister informs her that she is pregnant and determined to make Keely a part of the baby’s life. Things can change in the blink of an eye, and all that Keely knew about Izzy would change also, because Izzy left her daughter to Keely to raise.

Keely and Ronan have a lot in common, both did not have loving families but both wanted what was best for the baby, Emma. Emma’s role in Ronan and Keely’s life merged them into a family. Over time, Ronan no longer saw Keely as a young girl, he started to see a beautiful young woman one who is focused and determined to make a better life for herself and Emma. Keely always had a crush on Ronan, but as the two share a home, a bed and their lives, feelings blossom and love emerges. Each page I read their connection, bond, loyalty and love transcended in every page. A once care free man, Ronan now wants Keely and Emma to be his forever. Things are not smooth for the couple, because demons from their past emerge and threaten to take away the one good thing they’ve found together, a family. There are so many secrets and twists that emerge, ones that I never saw coming. Kelly and Ronan will have to face their past head on, but will their family emerge intact or will things be ruined forever? Definitely a must read.

Jinxed (The Rock Series #2) by Sandrine Gasq Dion Blog Tour & Giveaway

TITLE: Jinxed

SERIES: The Rock Series #2

AUTHOR: Sandrine Gasq Dion

PUBLISHER: Skull Blaster Publishing

COVER ARTIST: Kellie Dennis

LENGTH: 52,000 words

RELEASE DATE: October 30, 2015

Jinx Jett is a rock superstar. As such, the hunky Skull Blasters drummer thoroughly enjoys the many perks of willing groupies, earning him a reputation as the band slut. Making it big and scoring hot women is something Jinx never expected. There’s a little voice in the back of his mind constantly reminding him of how he used to be — shy, overweight and acne prone. One night in a gay bar turns life upside down when Jinx runs into Jayden Dempsey, a kid he’s been fantasizing about since giving him his autograph at a mall. Long-held insecurities keep Jinx from fully committing to anyone, and he may lose Jayden if he can’t put his past behind him.

Jayden Dempsey always wanted out of his life in small-town Alabama. When his parents kicked him out after he told them he was gay, Jayden decided the time was right to move on. He crosses the country to try out for ‘Singers!’, a show that propels unknowns to stardom. In a twist, producers choose him and three others as winners and form a boy band called London Boys. This season, the show brings Jayden and the guys back for the finale. Surprise! The contest’s heavy metal finalist will be singing with Skull Blasters.

Jinx and Jayden’s initial meeting doesn’t go so well, and Jayden’s stunned when the guy he’s crushed on for years turns out to be a total jerk. It doesn’t stop him from falling into Jinx’s arms every time they’re alone, but Jayden didn’t sign on for one nighters. He wants Jinx Jett, baggage and all.

Can a former teen outcast put rejection behind him and embrace the acceptance standing right in front of him? How much will one boy bander put up with from his rock idol before enough is enough? Can they make it work? Or are they jinxed in love?

Oh fuck.

“I thought…” Jayden blinked and shook his head.

“Are you all right, Jinx?” Achilles asked sharply.

“I’m fine.”

“Ma’am? Could you button your blouse, please?” Achilles addressed the woman with no expression on his face.

I walked around Arielle and approached Jayden. He backed up, still shaking his head.

“Jayden…” I reached out to him.

“No.” Jayden lifted his chin. “Don’t worry about it. I just wanted to make sure you were okay.”

He turned and ran down the corridor and I started to follow, but Achilles gripped my bicep and held me back. Arielle walked past us, straightening her shirt.

“Maybe next time?” she cooed, completely oblivious.

No and just … no. God, was I so wrapped up in Jayden that I couldn’t even function with women? Seemed that way.

Achilles dragged me into the corridor and shut the bedroom doors behind me. He turned to face me and I saw anger in those cool eyes.

“What?” I said in defiance. “This is who I am.”

“Bullshit,” he snapped. “It’s who you used to be. Jayden was worried you’d been drugged or something so he came and found me.”

My mouth dropped open in surprise. I’d never heard Achilles speak that forcefully. His brows were furrowed and his glare went right through me.

“Don’t play with people’s emotions, Jinx. That’s not you,” he continued.

“How the fuck do you know who I am?”

“I’ve been watching you. I know more than you think, Jinx. Jayden sees you, the real you, not the guy you show everyone else. Either let him go, or reel him in ─ but don’t fuck with his head.”

5 Fan-flipping-tastic Stars!!!!!

Another fantastic start to a new series. I loved everything about this book. There are a few things you know for sure when you begin reading a book by Author Jessica Sorensen.

  • The writing will be fantastic
  • You will be hooked to your reading device from start to finish
  • You are in for some serious angst
  • When you get to the killer ending she is known for you will be wanting to hunt her down and beat her with her own book.

This book had me hooked as soon as I started it. I loved the writing and every single character in this book was not only funny but made this book                fan-flipping-tastic!!!!!

The main character Lexi Ashford was perfect. I loved that she had no filter and no matter what she did she always ended up getting herself into some sort of trouble. She was quirky but yet you really understood her.

“ He gives me the death glare. “Who said I ever wanted to wear glitter?” “Oh, come on, almost every guy has thought about it at least once.” He stares at me blankly. “ I can promise you I’ve never, ever thought about putting glitter on my body.”

Her parents were hysterical and the chemistry between all the characters was great!!!!

“I know it’s a not big,” my mom says, her first place ribbon still pinned proudly to her side-tied shirt.” But once the lights are off, it doesn’t see as small.” That’s what he said.” I heave a sigh, setting my bad down on the floor. Man, I’m making dirty jokes with my parents. I mus be losing my damn marbles.”

I felt like I was there along side Lexi the whole book. The author just has a way of pulling you in and making you feel like you are experiencing everything too. I am not going to go into the plot of the story. The only thing I will say is that I LOVED IT!!!!! I read this book with a huge smile on my face and was laughing my ass off many times. I cannot wait for the next book in this series.

3.5 stars

This is the first book that I read from this author and it will not be the last. The book starts off fantastic and I have to say I loved Neveah’s personality. She was full of spunk and didn’t take crap from no one until she meets up with Rage. Even than she gives him a run for his money. Both characters were strong headed and I loved the chemistry and flirting that went on between them. You could tell that they were attracted to each other but tried to keep their distance.

“You’re not my boss. I checked with the boss of me, and she said I could wear whatever the fuck I wanted to wear.”

Rage was a walking, talking sex on a stick. That dirty little mouth of his had me needing to change my panties a few times. The things that would come out of his mouth had me blushing. He had a sweet side and I felt horrible for what he went through in life.

“I’m not falling for your tricks,” I said. “I know you want me to fall for this bad boy bullshit but asshole isn’t my style.”

I loved the relationship that Neveah had with her father, Wes and her Aunt Shelly. Shelly was another funny character. The things that came out of her mouth were fantastic. All the secondary characters really made this book fun and interesting.

The story was fast paced and I am a huge fan of that. The only thing that didn’t sit well with me was how quickly the relationship between Rage and Neveah changed from being attracted to each other to soul mates. I would of liked to have see more growth. I also thought that the ending was a little two rushed.

Overall, I really did enjoy this story from start to finish and loved all the characters in this book. The humor and chemistry between them all was fantastic.
