Ladies Man (Manwhore #3) by Katy Evans **Jodie’s Review**

TAHOE ROTH.
Irreverent, cocky, playful and naughty.
He’s not the guy you date.
He’s the one night stand.
The one your mother warned you about.
The one your body craves.

You’d think the man who called me succulent would want to strip me down and spread me out on his bed—like he’s done with countless others.
But he passed on my offer….
Just like I’d once passed on his.
He’s wary, like I am.
He’s broken, like I am.
And everyone knows two broken parts can’t ever make a whole.
Tahoe and I are strictly friends.
So I distract myself with other men.
He doesn’t think my new man is good enough. This blond blue-eyed beast doesn’t think any man is—himself included.
But the more time we spend together, the more confused I feel.
I’m trying to open myself to love.
Yet I’m quickly realizing that the only man I want is Tahoe Roth.
The one man who will surely break my heart.

Jodie's review

4.5 stars

“They grab you, own you, squeeze the life out of you, until you wake up sweating in the middle of the night, in tears, and you’re frantic to touch the ground beneath you because you still feel like you’re falling…and falling… a never-ending drop.  Until a painfully hard surface breaks your fall.”

And that is about what happens to me every time I open a book written by Katy Evans.  She consumes me with her men and their stories. She takes my emotions and manipulates them just like I am standing in a closet watching the story unfold in front of me.  This story started just as fast as it ended and…
“It’s madness inducing.”

Seriously, prepare to be so frustrated and so on edge you will want to scream at these characters, SCREAM.  I screamed, I laughed, I cried and I cursed them.  Your emotions start right away with this book and before I knew it I had lost a day and was completely invested.  You learn really quick that there is a reason for the title.  You also learn that there is definitely more to this story than just that beautiful face on the cover.  Oh Tahoe Roth, I love you right up there with all of the other Katy Evans men that have come before you.

“I cannot get on the Tahoe rollercoaster.”

Tahoe is Saints best friend and he is exactly what you get from the cover, GORGEOUS and…

“He’s funny and I  think of him often and he’s generous and protective and cocky.  And he makes me feel alive.”

Then enter Regina and the stage is set for these two. Gina turned Tahoe down in the past however since then he has invaded her every thought.  She feels she just needs to one night stand him out of her system.   And she does just that at his birthday party.  She offers herself to him as a present yet this time it is his turn to reject her. And just like that right from the beginning that is how Katy Evan’s hooked me into this story.  I was like WTF JUST HAPPENED!!!! FRIENDS ….

“No one is the way they seem.  We all hide little pieces, either because we don’t want to be judged, or because we don’t think we’ll be understood. or simply because we don’t want those pieces of us to belong to anyone but us.”

Friends who say amazing things to each other.  These two had me so crazy I just wanted to scream would you just realize you are soul mates and let’s get this show started!!

“Why the hell do I want to cry right now?”

Yup I said that to myself several times while I was reading.  I kept the whole JODIE GET YOURSELF TOGETHER speech going on in my head.  And because I don’t want to retell the story I will just tell you this was me watching this relationship.  OMG why are my cheeks wet!

“I won’t cry.  I won’t cry.  I won’t cry. I won’t cry.”

SHIT, I am crying.  I am a ball of nerves and I can’t take this back and forth.  I need things, I need to kick things.  Wait, I need a break, nope can’t function I have to read this till the end.  And there goes my life and where is the damn number for pizza.

And like always with Katy, the story is over but I still can feel everything.  I truly want to lock myself away and read it again.  It gave me everything and more than I was expecting and I can’t recommend enough that you let Tahoe stop your world for just a moment.  I do have to admit if you are a fan of Southern Charm prepare for some funny things that will trigger laughter.  Let me just leave you with this…

“I’ve learned with you .  Love should make you feel good about yourself and about the person you are when you’re with the one you love.  Love should make you feel accepted as you are.”

Excerpt

“Harlow, Harlow,” he murmurs in reverence, as if my previous profession of love has brought him to his knees.

He takes my hand and brings it to his lips. His gentle kisses make me drift to a memory from a couple hours ago when Sin’s lips brushed over my knuckles. I felt everything then. My senses hummed. Now, I feel nothing.

I try to ease my hand from his, but his grip holds me in place. “Do you have any idea how long I’ve wanted to hear you say these words?” He places another kiss on my hand. “I forgive you for tonight.”

I do need his forgiveness, because his lips aren’t the ones I want on me. The ones I want belong to the man driving the car behind us. The fact that he’s James’ nephew makes me feel even more ashamed. What is wrong with me?

“You say you love me, but I need you to show me your love. Erase what I saw.” He releases my hand and I can guess what he wants: sex. It’s how he communicates.

“Unzip your dress and remove your bra,” he instructs, his voice rough.

I don’t want to upset him more, so I work myself out of my dress and bra. The air conditioning blows across my bare breasts and my nipples harden. I’m tempted to cover them with my hands, but he wouldn’t approve, so they stay at my sides.

Eyeing my exposed body, he licks his lips, pleased with what he sees. He reaches over to touch the side of my breast, cupping it with his hand. His thumb finds my nipple and strokes over it, pinching it hard. I inhale a sharp breath at the assaulting sensation.

“You’re utter perfection. Feel how hard you make me.” His fingers leave my breast and grip my hand. Placing my hand over his bulging erection and curling my fingers around him, I close my eyes.

“Now, unzip my pants and put me in your hot mouth.”

Title: Leave a Mark
Author: Stephanie Fournet
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Publisher: Blue Tulip Publishing

She’s pierced, and dyed, and covered in tattoos—and she’s everything Dr. Lee Hawthorne wants.

Pageflex Persona [document: PRS0000030_00050]

Synopsis

Dyed, pierced, and covered in tattoos, Wren Blanchard is the exact opposite of everything Dr. Lee Hawthorne thought he wanted.

His residency is almost finished. With the perfect job, the beautiful house, and the polished girlfriend, he knows he should be happy, yet he isn’t.

But once Wren lands in his ER with her sharp tongue and artist’s soul, she leaves a mark on him that just won’t fade.

Wren knows the good doctor is way out of her league. To people like him, she’s a circus freak. Besides, she’s not the type to get hung up on guys, especially ones with midnight blue eyes—ones who know all about antiques, crack bad jokes, and love Joss Whedon.

No. She doesn’t need that.

After all, she has friends, a psychotic cat, and a promising career as one of the best tattoo artists in town. And it’s enough.

Really, it is.

Or it would be if Lee weren’t there every time she turned around.

One kiss seals their fate.

Their attraction is undeniable–but Wren’s past is full of ghosts. Is their bond strong enough for a solid future? Or will their new relationship crumble beneath the weight of all she carries?

Excerpt

She studied him for a moment. “Are you still in your residency?”

The question surprised him. “Yes. Is it that obvious?”

Her startled laughter was the only answer he needed. And Lee wanted to hear it again — even if she laughed at him.

“I mean, I’m licensed. It’s not like I just have my learner’s permit or anything.” It was a bad joke. An awful joke, but it worked because she kept laughing. Her laughter was a mix of high and low notes, like a handbell choir. And like music, he could feel it in his chest.

“That’s not what I meant,” she said, her smile untamed. “You just look really young, and I’ve heard that residents have — like — negative time.”

He gave her a helpless grin. “Negative time. That’s about right. Who told you that?”

Her smile demurred. “One of my clients.”

“One of your clients is a resident?” His curiosity pounced. Did he know someone who was secretly covered in Wren’s work?

“Who?”

She shook her head, but her smile never failed. “I don’t tat and tell. Tattooing is very personal. If someone wants you to see their work, you’ll see it. But I don’t talk about my clients.”

Even though he was the one asking, Lee liked that she wouldn’t answer. “You don’t talk about them at all?”

Wren raised and dropped her right shoulder in a half shrug, but she still smiled at him. “Well, I don’t identify them.” Her voice softened, but Lee thought he heard a touch of pride. “I’ll talk about the artwork, or I’ll retell a funny story someone told me while I worked on them, but I don’t go around talking about who was in my parlor.”

“That’s cool,” he managed, even though it was more than cool. After seeing her artwork on the walls of her apartment, he already respected her as a professional, but she clearly had integrity on top of talent. He wanted to know more, but more than anything, Lee wanted her to keep talking. “What kind of tats did you do today?”

Her smile grew, and again her cheeks colored. He found his eye drawn to the translucent skin below her cheekbones. Wren’s fair complexion was an alluring contrast to her black and blue hair, but when she blushed, Lee found it impossible to look away.

“Well, let’s see…” Her green eyes swiveled to the ceiling as she recounted. “I did a fleur-de-lis for this girl who turned eighteen today. I inked a Captain America shield on this guy’s bicep—”

Lee laughed, not so much about the tattoo choice, but at the look of amusement in her eyes.

“Yeah, he was definitely an Avengers fan… Um…” She paused to tally on her fingers. “…I touched up a Celtic knot for a lady, and I worked on a larger piece for one of my regulars.”

“What was it?” Lee asked, intrigued with the way her face softened when she thought about her work.

“Oh, it’s a dragon. Pretty big.” Wren drew a serpentine shape across her chest. “A piece like that needs to be worked on in stages, so we did some of the shading today.”

He had more questions. He could have stood there listening to her all night, but the rational part of his brain told him to give it a rest. They were in the middle of the grocery store. If he wanted to talk to her more, he should ask her out for coffee.

But you can’t ask her out. You’re seeing someone.

“You’re really talented. I’m sure you stay pretty busy. You seem…” He couldn’t find the words for what he wanted to say. He wanted to tell her that she seemed like the kind of person he could talk to — listen to — for hours. And that he would’ve liked the chance. That she was special, and he knew it. “…you seem perfect — I mean… you are unique.”

He didn’t question why she stared at him with unblinking eyes. What the hell had he just said? She was perfect? Who talked like that?

But in the seconds after he’d blurted out the words, he watched her eyes light with a smile — a surprised and genuine smile, and he realized he didn’t regret the words at all.

“Um… thank you?” What had been pink on her cheeks was now scarlet, and Lee thought he might have turned a little pink, too.

“I should let you get back to your shopping,” he said, clearing his throat. He didn’t want to walk away. Maybe if he just stood there, she’d leave first, and he’d be able to watch her go.

“Yeah…” She didn’t move.

Neither of them moved.

“…yeah, I should go.”

“It was great running into you,” he said in a rush. “I’m glad you are feeling better.”

“It was nice running into you, too, Dr.—”

“Lee,” he interjected.

She bit her lip and smiled. “Lee,” she said with a nod. “It was so nice, Lee.”

It was selfish. He’d made her say his name and, again, as he knew he would, he felt a stirring — like fingers running down his sternum. He’d never liked the sound of his name so much.

“Wren,” he said with a nod, liking the feel of her name on his tongue even more.

“Goodnight.” She turned and left him.

Playlist

Okay, so this may be the most unusual playlist ever assembled. This is largely due to the fact that Dr. Lee Hawthorne has both a jukebox and a sense of humor, so why can’t we mix Simon and Garfunkel with a little Pitbull? The Wurlitzer, naturally, only holds 45s, so most of the songs that come up in the novel are much older than Lee and Wren, but I can see Wren punching “Under Pressure” and Lee following with the confidence of Sam and Dave and whimsy of The Police. Lee and Wren both love antiques, after all, so why wouldn’t they share a love of old music? And with as many self-doubts as Wren carries, who else but Hozier would she have on her playlist? The list ends with Diana Krall’s version of “I’ve Got You Under My Skin” for obvious reasons. (Make sure you read the Epilogue.)

Megan's review

3 stars

It was hard for me to put into words what I thought of my time while reading Leave a Mark.  I saw the cover and really loved it and had hoped the inside would give me the same type of love for the story. I hate to begin this review with such a blank statement but … Ahhh I hate that I have to but BUT…I didn’t love it. I did like it. I found it was easily broken up into 4 sections.

The first; the beginning was an adjustment period. It took a little to get into the groove with this book, the flashbacks really had me but then abruptly stopped and I really wanted more. The story took off at such a speed that I was getting confused and found myself not really sure of the characters. The chapters ended on an open thought and the next flipped to the new POV. After a few it got easier but I do prefer a conclusion type and not an always abrupt end. But the dual POVs did pick up, so like I said it took a little bit. I wasn’t an immediate fan of Dr. Lee not because he seemed to really have heart of a good doctor but his thinking was jarring to me. As for Wren, I did love her overall but between the flashbacks and her real life I found myself wanting more details of her childhood.

Next, their meeting and connection. Being Wren’s doctor I found this part of the book very flat.  When she was in pain her cute little spunk was entertaining for the split second we saw it but their connection which should have started here didn’t jump off the page for me. Even as he began to think of his patient more and more I didn’t feel it… them…. That connection sets the tone for any story in my opinion.  Yes, he was overly sweet and went beyond the terms of a medical doctor, his need to help was certain but why this patient? Why her? It was told he just needed to but I didn’t feel it.

The 3rd part.  My favorite. Honestly, I based my review on this part alone.  His pursuit of just needing to know her and her so not letting him in easy. When the pull between them was still innocent. When the waters were calm and they were learning. He wasn’t available and she wasn’t giving anything a go. Conversation were cute and funny and sweet. There was guiltless flirting, just kindness. It was very sweet at times. It was just something.

“What? You think I’m not loyal because I took you home? Because I talked to you in the grocery story?”

“Talked to me? You flirted with me. Does your girlfriend know that?”

“I didn’t plan to flirt with you, I don’t do that. I just-”

“You just what?”

“I just wanted to keep talking to you. I still do.”

And now for the last part- When Lee’s desire for her amplified that’s when it became too rushed for me. He was trying, which is good, but it was a tad much. And fast. They didn’t have an immediate connection so his quick chase didn’t sit well with me. Once he was unattached his thoughts were too perfect and too awe and way too instant. The added family drama was seen a mile away and of course added to the drama of their relationship. If more time was spent on her I think the desertion would have impacted differently. Her disastrous childhood is truly what kept me reading. I kept waiting for more of her past to be relevant and once it was all revealed it lost the steam for me. I continued to hope for more. But once Lee and Wren took off that particular story didn’t play a part vocally, at least not enough for me.

My most favorite scene in the entire book, because of the uniqueness of it is the very last scene.  I won’t go into detail but the fun and happiness of the scene matches so well with the 2nd part of the book I loved so much.

I wished this was told in her view alone and had more of her struggles as Lee kept his persistence up. I think the bones of this story are really good just the way it’s all put together doesn’t bond the same.

“Yeah, we aren’t exactly the same. You’re inked and pierced and dyed from head to toe-literally- and I wear a coat and tie to work. Big F’ing deal.”

Detective Aidan Calloway is rock-solid strong. He’s a man of justice—loyal to his friends, family, and job—even if it requires bending a law…or two. He shields himself behind an abrasive, fearless facade, until a phone call one night chips his armor and throws his perfectly planned, hollow life into a tailspin.

Only then can they truly heal and become strong enough to battle the demons that haunt them and threaten their chance to finally be together.

Although part of a series, this book can be read as a stand-alone.

“This book is wonderful and beautifully worded. Jessie has a gift with words.” – Reader Review

“This story is not only an emotional roller coaster but it is full of action and mystery as well. There are several different stories all coming to a proverbial head in this book, and the outcome is excellent.” – Alpha Book Club

(This is taken from a scene between Aidan and Jessie.)

“You don’t give up, do you?”
“Not when it comes to you. No.”
“Jess, I’m not easy. I have more baggage than the underbelly of a cargo plane.”
“Then I’ll set my bags right next to yours.”
He shook his head. No one had ever been this relentless to be with his miserable ass.
“I’ve got one last question for you,” Jessie said.
Aidan turned his head slightly toward him but refused to make eye contact.
“Do you…” Jessie hesitated and rubbed his hands on his thighs again, revealing a hint of that introverted, vulnerable side others usually saw when they looked at him. “Do you want to be with me?”

Point-blank. That was the million-dollar question that determined how this conversation would end. Even if he did have enough energy to erect his shield, he couldn’t lie to Jessie. He exhaled heavily. “More than anything.”

“Then that settles it.”

“Jess…it’s not that easy.”
“Don’t make it harder.”
Aidan sighed. “I’m not used to this,” he said, gesturing between them with his hand.

“Talking or having a relationship?”
“Either. Both. Fuck if I know.”
“Okay. Well, you’ve never had a problem talking to me before, so we’ll work up to the big stuff. One detail a week. I’m not going to stress you out with a one-a-day quota. One detail we wouldn’t share with anyone else.”
One a week. Aidan forcefully rubbed his hands together. He could handle that. Maybe. Sorta.
“And as far as the whole relationship thing, I’m not an expert. But, we kinda already have something. Don’t you think?” Jessie looked over to him with a hint of a smile playing in his expression, cocking his head.
He definitely wasn’t an expert in relationships, but if Jessie thought this defined a relationship, then maybe he could totally handle this.
Jessie bumped his shoulder. “We’re just missing out on all the fun stuff.”
Aidan groaned. It drove him nuts when Jessie teased him.
“I’m not saying it’ll be easy. I know…” Jessie hesitated and rubbed his thighs again. “I know we’re both very different from each other and from what other people usually see when they look at us. But…I see you, not the guy you want everyone else to see. And you’re worth it, Aidan. It bothers me that you don’t recognize how amazing you are, but I’m willing to give this a shot. I just…I hope you think the same of me.” He quieted for a few moments then subtly nodded, concluding some internal conversation. “You work at things so you can appreciate the success at the end.”
Aidan shook his head and scoffed. Jessie and his inspirational poster lines…too fucking cute to deny. His ability to take a mountain and turn it into a few pellets of dust always amazed Aidan. Jessie was bossier than people could imagine and far more of a control freak than anyone suspected.
“Jess.”
“Yeah?”
“You’re totally worth it.”

Jaime Reese is the alter ego of an artist who loves the creative process of writing, just not about herself. Fiction is far more interesting. She has a weakness for broken, misunderstood heroes and feels everyone deserves a chance at love and life. An avid fan of a happy ending, she believes those endings acquired with a little difficulty are more cherished.

His hand slowly moves down, pushing my hair back.  Then, he slides his fingers through my long locks, before grabbing the back of my neck.  There is something about his touch that is different this time.  It’s gentle but also electrifying, sending a zap of pure energy through my body.  It’s also possesive, as if he is marking me as his own. I want to be his, more than I’ve ever wanted anything in the world.
Grabbing my hand, he asks, “Are you sure about this?”
“Yeah,” I mumble, fear creeping into my voice.
As much as I want him, my mind is running in overdrive. Being a virgin, and the daughter of an MC President, I have very little experience with this shit.  Other than a few kisses from high school boys brave enough to risk my father’s wrath, I’m completely naïve about this stuff.  Well, as naïve as a girl that grew up in a biker clubhouse can be. I’ve always wanted Boz, even dreamed that he would be my first, maybe only.  But now that it’s about to happen, my ass is freaking out in a major way.
“Don’t be nervous.  Nothing will happen that you don’t want to,” he says, reading my mood.
He then takes my hand and leads me into the treeline behind the clubhouse.  With each step we take, the sounds of the party grow more faint. The only light is the shining of the moon, making it seem as if we are in a world of our own.  We walk in silence for a few minutes, until we come to a clearing just beside a creek. It’s a place I know well.
He takes the blanket from me, and as he spreads it out on the ground, he says, “No one should bother us here.”
My eyes stare at the moonlight reflecting off the water and ask, “How did you know this place was here?”
“Your dad showed it to me a while back.  The fucker made me go fishing with him,” Boz says, surprising the shit out of me.
This spot has always been special to me; it reminds me of Mom.  We lost her to breast cancer, not long after I met Boz for the first time.  Losing her nearly killed Dad and me both.  Being here brings back a ton of wonderful memories of her and our family.  It’s where my mom taught me to swim, where we would have tea parties and talk about girly crap.  It’s also a place my dad would take us, just to get away from the club for a few minutes.  He said it was our spot, a place for our family to be together.  The last time Dad brought me here was the day after Mom’s funeral.  We sat by the creek, and I cried in his arms until I fell asleep.
“I know it’s no fancy bed, but I always liked it out here,” Boz says as he sits down and pulls me down beside him.  “I hope you’re okay being out here.”
The sound of crickets chirping reaches my ears as a huge smile spreads across my face. I’m more than okay; I’m absolutely estatic.  I have the man of my dreams by my side, and we are in the most beautiful place God ever created.  How could it get any better?
I look up at him and, with all honesty, say, “I think it’s perfect.”
He raises his hand and runs his thumb along my cheek. “Good.  A woman like you deserves perfection.”
I know he’s running a game on me.  I can tell that these are lines he’s used a million times before.  Still, it doesn’t matter.  He is saying everything I need to hear, everything I’ve ever dreamed he would say. I want more, more of him.
He then leans down and places his lips on mine, igniting a fire deep inside me. A nearly silent whimper escapes me, allowing his tongue to sneak inside.  His lips are aggressive and fierce, his tongue gliding against mine as he devours me.  It goes on and on, before he finally pulls back and leans his forehead against mine.
“You taste fucking amazing,” he says with a groan.
Not guarding my words, I tell him, “I will remember that kiss for the rest of my life. I will never forget the way your tongue feels when it’s wrapped around mine.”
He lifts his head just a little and simply stares at me for a second, as if he can’t beleive what I just said.  Finally, his lips come back to mine.  He slowly pushes me backwards, until I am laying flat on the blanket, and continues to kiss me as his body comes down on mine.    We kiss for a few minutes, our hands all over each other.  Touching and caressing, we get as close as we can to each other with our clothes still on.
Finally, he starts to lift my shirt.  As soon as his hand touches my stomach, I go wild.  Sitting up, I pull off my shirt. I do the same to him, trying to jerk his shirt off.
“Slow down, darlin’,” he says, slipping off his cut and tossing it on the edge of the blanket.
He then pulls off his shirt, giving me my first glimpse of his ink-covered chest.   I reach out to touch the massive Grim Bastard tat, but he stops me, going in for another kiss.  At the same time, he reaches up and rubs his hand along the seam of my bra, barely touching my breast.
Slipping a finger inside the cup, he whispers, “So fucking beautiful.”
He reaches around and unsnaps it, allowing my bra to drop to the ground.  “Oh yeah, more beautiful than I ever imagined.”
His lips meet mine again, stealing my breath away.  His hand caresses my breast as he takes my puckered nipple in between his fingers and squeezes, before giving it a twist.  My pussy convulses with anticipation of what’s to come.  I am soaking wet with desire. Unable to stop myself, I rub my thighs together just to get a little friction.
He tightens his fingers on my nipple and says, “Fuck, darlin’, you’re gonna have to quit doing that. I can feel the heat coming off of that sweet little pussy everytime you move.  My dick is already so damn hard, it’s about to bust out of my pants.”
“I want you.”  I reach down and rub my hand over his jean-covered cock.
At first contact, fear starts to fill me again.  He’s hard as hell and so fucking huge.  I may have never touched a dick before, but I’ve seen my fair share around the clubhouse.  None have been this big. The thought of him trying to fit in my body is as terrifying as it is exciting.
My hand works up and down his length, squeezing tight each time I come to the tip.  With each squeeze, he lets out a grunt.  The sound is driving me insane with need.  He pulls back enough to unbutton my jeans.  He slides them down, taking my panties with them.  As soon as they join my other clothes, he comes back down on me.
As his tongue invades my mouth once again, a moan of pure pleasure escapes me.  As if he knows what I need, his hand slides between my legs, tweaking my clit.  Instinctively, I lift my hips to meet his searching fingers.  I need his cock to be inside me.
When he finally rubs his fingers in between my folds, he mumbles, “Fuck, Trix.  Your pussy is soaking wet.  I can’t wait to feel it wrapped around my dick.”
“Please,” I beg, not quite sure what I am asking for.
One of his fingers enters me, curling up to touch the bundle of nerves hidden deep inside. It feels so damn good I almost come from the pressure alone.  As he slides his finger in and out, he uses his thumb to rub small circles over my clit.  Unable to hold back a minute more, I let out a long moan.
I grab onto both of his shoulders and pull him toward me, needing his lips on mine.  As his tongue enters my mouth again, he pushes another finger inside, stretching me to my limits.  My hips keep moving against his hand, until fireworks explode in my body.
As my pussy convulses around his fingers, he groans.  “Your pussy is so fucking tight.  I’m afraid I’m going to hurt you.”
Placing my lips on his, I say, “I need you inside me now.”
He kisses me one more time before getting up to unbutton his jeans.  “I’d like nothing more, darlin’.”
After he gets his pants unsnapped and the zipper down, he kicks off his boots.  Just as he starts to push his jeans down, the sound of someone walking through the woods hits my ear.  “Boz, brother, get your ass back to the club house.”
Boz stops, zips his pants back. “What the fuck?” Reaching over for his tee, he hands it to me.  “Put that on, darlin’.”
“Who is that?” I ask, covering myself up as quickly as possible.
He just shakes his head, before walking to the edge of the clearing and shouting, “What the hell do you need, Round?”
I hear heavy footfalls hitting the ground, just before an older man steps into the clearing.  He doesn’t even bother to look at me as he says, “It’s your dad.”
“What the fuck did he do now?” Boz asks, walking back to the blanket and shoving his boots back on.  “You do know I’m not his keeper, right?”
The older man doesn’t answer, just turns around and starts back to the clubhouse.  Over his shoulder he says, “Hurry the fuck up.  He’s hurt bad.”
Leaving me without a word, Boz takes off at a run.  I jump up, pull on my jeans and head after him, not even bothering with the rest of our stuff.  As soon as I step into the clubhouse, I see Boz in my dad’s face.
When I get close enough, I hear Boz talking in a menacing whisper.  “Who the fuck shot him?”
It’s at that moment, I see Boz’s dad lying on the floor, his vacant eyes staring at the ceiling.  His chest is covered in blood, and there is no doubt in my mind that he has drawn his last breath.  Unable to hold it back, my stomach revolts.  Leaning forward, I heave today’s lunch onto the floor. One of the old ladies comes over and grabs my shoulders, pulling me into her arms.  She leads me out of the room, away from the dead body.
Just as we step outside, I hear Boz shout,  “I asked you a fucking question.  Who shot my father?”
“I don’t know,” Dad says with a shake of his head.  “He’s been running his mouth all damn night, putting his hands on the old ladies.  You know this shit was bound to happen sooner or later.”
That’s the last I hear before I am jerked outside.  Peeking at Boz just before the door closes, I see his eyes on me.  From the look on his face, I can tell that any chance we had is gone.

Josie's review

4.5 stars

I became a fan of Emily Minton’s ever since I read Renegade Lady.  When I think of an MC read my mind immediately goes to Emily’s Renegade Sons and Savage Outlaw’s.   This author knows how to write a good MC book. One that is filled with the dirty, gritty, sexy, badass and dark side that I come to expect and love.  Dirty Bastard exceeded my expectations. Trix and Boz’ story took me on such a ride and I loved every minute of it.

The description to this book is spot on and once I started reading it I could not stop.  Just as the titles suggests, Boz is a bastard and the President of the Grim Bastard MC, and Trix is the Princess of the Satan’s Revenge MC.  I will admit the start to this story reminded me of a book I read in the past. Boz first meets a 14 year old Trix for the first time.  Years later the two meet again and Boz and Trix have an undeniable and intense connection.

“You just want someone to fu*k?”

“It’s not, I want you under me, over me, and any other way I can get you.  But, I also want to see where this leads, see if the reality of you is nearly as sweet as I think it will be.”

After being gifted with not one but two Prologues, I wanted more and more of this couple.  Things do not go as well as Trix and Box planned. Boz’s father is murdered and things between the two are over way before they get started (and I mean they are about to do the DEED!).  Fast forward 8 years and once again Boz and Trix come face to face again, but this time under harsher circumstances. This is where the story gets grittier, edgier and steamier.

I loved that Trix is not a little quiet mouse. She is after all a MC Princess, she knows her role in an MC. She respects Boz’ position of authority but I really loved that she does not make things easy for the man.    Boz knows he has a job to do trying to find out who betrayed his club but he also has a need to lay claim to Trix while she is being held by his MC.

I loved reading how they fortified their relationship while dealing with betrayal, secrets, a protective father, jealously and a sick brother hell bent on getting Trix.  There were so many swoon worthy moments within the story. Boz melted my panties more times that I can count in this read.  The story and plot are so well paced and so well developed as were the main characters and side characters.  The words and characters had me emotionally invested and I cannot wait to get my hands of the next book in the series.
