Josie's review

4.5 stars

I recommend reading book #1 Incapable prior to reading this review, it may contain spoilers.

I couldn’t wait to see the conclusion to Emmalin and Grayson’s very emotional, kinky and drama filled story.  As soon Unjustly Destroyed landed on my Kindle, I went full on into reading mode.  This book was everything I imagined it would be. It was wonderful, filled with secrets, drama and suspense.  Will Emmalin and Grayson finally get their happily ever after?

The author picks up right where she left off in Incapable, Emmalin and Grayson are moving on and are happy and solid.  For a short read this baby packed a punch. Grayson has a connection to Emmalin that is so strong and intense that he knows when something is wrong with her or when she hiding something from him.  He tries to be the loving man that he is, but come on the man is a dominant, so he can only give Emmalin so much leeway before he has to take over himself.

After the events and truth that come out in book 1, Emmalin is a stronger but she is still broken.  She is a true survivor and when her past comes back to try and destroy Grayson and those she loves, she will do anything to keep them safe.  Emmalin goes through so much in this book. Keeping things away from Grayson takes a toll on her and she becomes secretive and slowly starts to unravel.  Emmalin’s past causes a huge divide in their relationship, but it is Grayson who will fight for them.  Losing the woman he loves more than life itself is not an option.

My heart went out to Grayson. In this book he normally controlled everything, but we see him start to slip with the distance Emmalin puts up.  That was hard for me to handle. This strong and controlled man is nothing without Emmalin and it shows in spades in this book.   When the truth Emmalin is hiding is finally revealed, Grayson will stop at nothing to keep her safe and bound to him forever.  There are so many twists and turns in Unjustly Destroyed that it left me breathless at every turn.  I cried, screamed and honestly needed a cold shower from those kinky and hot scenes.  If you read the first book then you have got to read this heart stopping conclusion. If not hop-hop and get to clicking!!

Josie's review

5 stars

I am in love with the men and women of Notorious Devils MC.   We met Brentlee and Sniper back in the first book and I will admit I was looking forward to their story.  Rough and Raw is filled with everything I love and look for in a story. It’s filled with angst, regret, drama and second chances.  Of course it is not a MC story if we do not have grit and a crazy delusion sweet butt.   Once I started reading this it was impossible for me to put it down. From the prologue to the epilogue the author had me completely hooked.

I love how this author brought us back to the beginning during the early days between Brentlee and Bates aka Sniper. After I read their prologue I could feel just how raw and deep their love for one another ran.  Sniper never denied his love and need for her. Even years later when he knew that in order to give her a better chance at life it would cost him the love of his life.  Watching Brentlee get move on with her tore him apart.  When Brentlee and her daughter flee her abusive husband and seek protection from the MC, Sniper sees this has his second chance with Brentlee.

Being abused physically, sexually and mentally by the hands of her husband has left her a broken woman and my heart broke for her.   The once feisty, fearless and adventurous girl is gone.  But if we are being honest, she lost herself years ago when Sniper severed all ties with her.   Brentlee is lost and has been hardened after living through what she’s gone through.

Sniper was nothing at all what imagined. This tough, rough and mean biker was immediately putty when Brentlee walks back into his life.  I loved him completely. Seeing this bad a$$ biker vulnerable, open and completely in love with Brentlee and her daughter stole my heart.  He was loyal, patient, caring and protective of the two women that owned him.  I loved how much he wanted them and wasn’t afraid to show how much they meant to him.

Brentlee and Sniper have a long road ahead of them. Both their pasts threaten to take away their second chance at happiness.  What I loved most about Brentlee and Sniper was how they both felt unworthy of each other. They were both damaged but together they were exactly what the other needed. I love how much Sniper stopped at nothing to keep Brentlee and her daughter Stella safe.  Even when he made mistakes, his passion and remorse won me over every time.  I loved seeing Brentlee’s growth through the story and I really admired her strength. Sniper always owned her heart, she just needed to be strong enough to learn to live again.

Rough and Raw was just as the title suggests. It was rough, raw and beautifully tragic.  This author did an amazing job creating two characters that weaved their way into my heart.  The words and plot of their story were so well written that I felt like I experienced everything the characters did.   This is a series that I look forward to reading and I am glad we will get to see more of these characters in future books.  If you love a good, dirty, raw and panty melting MC read than this is your book.

“All Truth. No Lies.”

AND TRUDY STILES LOVES TO LEAVE ME SPEECHLESS!!! She also loves to make me lose days when I read one of her books. This series once again proves this these are not your typical rock star romance boys. Trudy does an amazing job showing you these story thru flashbacks and it truly connects you deeper to Dex and Giselle story. This is a book of a past encounter connecting you to the present. Can the truth truly set you free or will it destroy you. LIES, LIES, LIES DAMN IT!!! IT HURTS!!!!! Or is it something else…

“Do you hear me? FATE.”

FATE! This is the perfect story of fate and how it works in life. How in such a big world it can truly seem really small. Like always with Trudy books,  don’t start this without a box of tissues and a supply of wine. Trudy took my heart and all my emotions and completely played with them. She made me laugh, she made me cry and like always she had me talking to and about characters like they were my friends. Her books have a way of feeling like real life and this is no exception.

“Someday, you’ll understand.”

I’m a mess and I just have learned to blame Trudy Stiles and the love she creates

The first time Jerry saw Kylie, he was taken by her beauty and innocence, but he stayed away because she was too young. A member of the Insurgents MC, Jerry’s life revolves around the club, his Harley, and easy sex. Women clamor for the rugged, tatted outlaw’s attention, and he obliges, but his sights are set on the pretty, young blonde who is all grown up now—sweet curves and all….

Kylie fills his thoughts, and he dreams of his fingers tangling in her glossy hair, her legs wrapping tightly around his waist, her full lips quivering as she comes.

Only problem is he can’t have her.

But… he can’t stop himself from craving her, and if he acts, it’ll surely cost him everything.

His resistance is waning….

Kylie McDaniels is the pretty daughter of Banger—President of the Insurgents MC. She grew up in the outlaw biker world, but her father shielded her from the dark side of it, and she still has an innocence he prefers she keep. Banger is very protective of his daughter, and he’s made up his mind that she won’t fall in love with a biker, especially Jerry.

She’d listen to her father, but the hot, muscular biker makes her want to do some not so innocent things.

Her insides melt, and her brain turns to mush whenever he looks at her with his hungry, brown eyes.

Damn. Why does he have to be so sexy?

As Kylie maneuvers her budding sexuality and attraction to Jerry while trying to stay on the good side of her dad, someone is out there watching her, waiting to make his move. He’s come for retribution, and Kylie is the pawn in his scheme. Will Jerry be able to stop the madman before he strikes?

Can their forbidden love survive the chaos of the world around them?

The Insurgents MC series are standalone romance novels. This is Jerry and Kylie’s love story. This book contains violence, sexual assault (not graphic), strong language, and steamy/graphic sexual scenes. It describes the life and actions of an outlaw motorcycle club. If any of these issues offend you, please do not read the book. HEA. No cliffhangers! The book is intended for readers over the age of 18.

Red Rocks University
Crested Peak, Colorado

He stood in the shadows behind the bush, staring intently at the window on the second floor. A glimpse of her made his heart race and he licked his lips, ripping off the dry skin with his front teeth. She was so damn beautiful. When he’d decided to seek her out, he had no idea how pretty and innocent she was. Since she was the daughter of the president of the Insurgents MC, he’d figured she’d look tough and used-up. But she was a lovely angel with blonde hair that touched the top of her ass, rounded tits that would fit perfectly in his hands, and large blue eyes that sparkled with innocence.

He inhaled sharply. Seeing her had changed his plans somewhat. Watching her come and
go for the past several weeks, he’d grown attached to her. As crazy at it sounded, he wanted to get to know her, become a part of her world.

“Mary, come on up. Taylor and I aren’t ready yet!” Kylie yelled out her dorm window,
her hair framing her face.

The girl she’d yelled out to bounced up the flight of concrete stairs then entered the three story Gothic-style building. It had taken some time for him to find which dorm Kylie lived in.
The university had more than fifteen thousand students, but he’d persevered and he found her. She lived with a dark-haired roommate—Taylor—in room number 222, on the second floor in the middle of the hall. A perfect location for him to watch her as she sat at her desk and studied, glanced down at her phone, or just stared out the window at the Rocky Mountains in the distance, a faraway look in her blue gaze.

The man had been driven to find her, hate and retribution fueling him on, but then he saw

her and his pants grew tight, and he knew his plan had changed. He buried himself further in the bush when the large wooden doors of the building opened and Kylie, Taylor, and Mary filed out, laughing and talking like young college students do. He breathed out when the trio passed by the greenery which hid him. The scent of vanilla, lavender, and patchouli lingered as they scurried down the brick path. Not knowing which one belonged to his Kylie—he’d started thinking of her as his—the young man made a note to find out which aroma was hers.

Slipping out from his hiding place, the man shoved his hands in his pockets, keeping his
distance as he followed the young women. Each time Kylie’s hips swayed, his dick twitched
more, and he willed himself to focus on the goal of his plan.

A broad-shouldered young man approached the girls. “Hey, Ricky.” The slight breeze

carried Kylie’s sweet voice.

“Hey. What’re you guys up to?” he asked.

“We’re going to grab a burger at University Café, then check out the show for Thursday
Thrills.” Kylie moved closer to Ricky. Her stalker growled when he saw her arm rub against the college boy.

“There’s a hypnotist. Everyone’s raving about him. Want to join us?” Mary asked.

He watched as the three women flirted and fawned over Ricky, who kept staring at Kylie
in a way that made his blood boil. Note to self—Ricky’s fucking history!

“Sure, why not?” Ricky looped his arm with Kylie’s, and the four students ambled
toward the café.

Wrapping his leather jacket tighter around him, he leaned against the wall of the Student
Center. He’d wait—he had to. The man wanted to make sure Ricky fuckface didn’t spend the night with Kylie. She was his, and no one would take her away from him. Just thinking about running his hands through her silky hair, and touching her skin—he imagined it would be soft as velvet—made his dick jab hard against his jeans. It wasn’t time yet, but soon, he’d have her legs wrapped around his waist as he plunged his hardness into her tight heat. Their fucking would be sweet and nasty, and she’d cry out his name as she came all over his cock.

Then he’d hurt her real bad. Maybe even cut her delicate throat.

He had to.

Retribution sucked sometimes.

Josie's review

4.5 stars

I really love how different each book in this series is and how every character has a different story to tell.  Now let me set the record straight, if you read Banger’s book then you met Kylie.  I was not a fan of his daughter.  So when I saw she was getting her own book and with Jerry no less, I wanted to see if this character could redeem herself. And boy did the author ever do justice with this one.

Kylie grew leaps and bounds. Considering she was a major biker brat in the Banger’s story.   Did I sympathize with her bratty behavior? No, Banger had a right to fall in love and start a new life.  What I did get was her role in the MC being the daughter of the President is not easy.  But Kylie changes so much here. She is independent, stronger and confident.   Being away from the MC and her dad, she finally is able to come into her own, free to not be under the constant watchful eyes of the MC.  She is smart, stands up for herself and knows what she wants. I really like that she goes after it and in this case it was Jerry she wanted, a brother in the Insurgents MC.

Jerry’s character blew my mind in this book.  He loves Kylie and has wanted her for a long time but he knows as the President’s daughter she is off limits.  Jerry lives a rough life and only thinks woman are good for one thing, but when we see him with Kylie there is a softer and kinder side to him.  The conflict raging on in Jerry’s head was so real and strong, everything in him was telling him that Kylie was his but he struggled to stay away.

Kylie and Jerry’s relationship and connection was so intense. The on and off again, the texting, the calls and the disappearances gave me whiplash.   Their chemistry is strong and is undeniable, one kiss is all it takes and Jerry can’t get her taste out of his mind.  The only family Jerry has known is that of the Insurgents, betraying his MC and losing them is not option, so he pulls away.   When Kylie’s life is put in danger, staying away is no longer an option.  Jerry and Kylie start a secret relationship one that if and when found out will change the dynamics of the MC and relationship between Jerry and Kylie.

This book has so much going on that I was hooked from the start. We have a stalker, family drama, suspense and club betrayal but the promise of a love so strong and beautiful that risking everything is worth it.  If you are a fan of this series or are looking for a new MC story that will take you on an emotional roller coaster ride of many ups and downs, then this is one you’ll want to pick up.

Chiah Wilder is the author of Hawk’s Property, the first book in the Insurgents MC Series. It is a full length, standalone novel. Its release date is set for October 27, 2015.
Always a lover of books, she began writing at a young age and continued through college with collections of short stories. Figuring she had to grow up and get a “real” job, her writing was placed on the back burner.
Her love of reading has always be center front in her life. Chiah’s love of bad boys both in and out of fiction has inspired her Insurgents series. She loves an alpha male whose softer side is brought out by a passionate, spirited woman. In fiction there are no rules or boundaries, and fantasies can go as far as the characters want to take them. Steamy, biker romances with rough, sexy bad boys are her guilty pleasure along with brownies, cheddar cheese, and movie marathons.
Returning to writing has been a dream come true. Writing and publishing Hawk’s Property has been an amazing journey, and she is happy to share the Insurgents family with her readers. She is busy writing her next book in the series.

AP new - synopsis.jpg

Being the only woman working for a professional baseball team isn’t easy. As the San Diego Shock’s newest athletic trainer, Allie knows all about long hours, endless travel, and warding off players’ advances. Given she’s already the subject of a handful of rumors about how “lucky” she was to have earned such a coveted position, she can’t so much as flutter an eyelash a player’s way if she wants to be taken seriously.

But number eleven is doing more than fluttering eyelashes Allie’s way. Far more. Luke Archer is at the top of his game and doesn’t let the fear of striking out keep him from swinging. This is a motto he applies both on and off the field, but Allie appears immune, seeming to view Luke as nothing more than caution tape on legs.

He’s a player, and in Allie’s experience, they’re all the same. She won’t risk her job or her heart to another one, no matter how different this one claims to be. But as Allie gets to know him, she discovers the number eleven the public thinks they know is very different from the real Luke Archer. He seems too good to be true.

And maybe he is.

Allie will have to confront the stories attached to a player of Luke Archer’s stature and decide who she’ll put her faith in—The man she’s falling for? Or the rumors?

AP new - excerpt.jpg

Working for a professional baseball team was going to be the end of my love life. The past two years confirmed that theory, as had the last text I’d received from my latest ex-boyfriend.

Half of the year on the road added to another half of the year working grueling hours that rivaled a doctor’s first year of residency equaled a whole lot of no free time to fill with a social agenda. Since being hired on by the San Diego Shock this season and the San Francisco Kings the year before that, the longest relationship I’d maintained spanned eight weeks.

This last one had barely cleared the four-week mark.

My lifestyle was costly, but it was worth it. Baseball was in my blood, and sports medicine was in my heart.

I’d grown up in a small Midwest town where people still got together for potlucks and everyone from the town hermit to the mayor attended a funeral. Where the only place you were expected to be after church on a Sunday was stretched out on the bleachers around the baseball field. It didn’t matter if it was a T-ball game or the high school championships—the bleachers were always packed.

Baseball was a religion where I grew up—it was stitched into the fibers of my life—so it was no surprise when I ended up with a baseball player. No, the surprise came after I’d followed him to college and found him in bed with someone else.

It had taken the wind right out of me, along with my tendency to trust first and doubt after. Ben had been sleeping around for a while by the time I found out—friends had known and said nothing—and that was the day I made a promise to myself to never let another guy hurt me as he had, to never be made a fool of like that.

After changing schools mid-year, I started studying sports medicine and never looked back. Or at least not often. I only looked back when I found myself feeling something similar to what I’d felt for Ben. The relationship never lasted long after that.

As evidenced by my newest failed relationship.

“Whose ass do I need to kick, Doc?”

Dropping my phone into my lap, I looked across the aisle to see who was sliding into the row across from me.

Luke Archer.

Known to fans as the best hitter on the Shock, if not in all of pro baseball. Known to women for his good looks and up-to-no-good smile. Known to Cosmo magazine as being voted the Finest Ass in professional baseball. And known by the athletic training staff as a well-rounded pain in our asses.

Not because he thought he knew better or was yet another prima donna—which the sport had no shortage of—but because he held to the old-school code of taking care of an injury by “walking it off.” If that didn’t work, then we could usually convince him to pop one or two pain relievers after the game, and sometimes, if he was feeling especially accommodating, he’d accept a bag of ice.

Luke Archer was the real man of steel, and no one to date had managed to convince him he was also made of those injury-prone materials known as flesh and blood.

“Doc?” Archer’s voice broke through my haze of thoughts. “Just give me his name and I’ll take care of it.”

The rest of the team and staff were shuffling down the aisle between us to find their seats on the team jet, but his stare aimed my way felt unyielding.

“What makes you think anyone’s ass deserves a kicking?” I asked.

I returned a high-five as Reynolds passed by. He’d twisted his ankle in the game earlier today, and I’d been the first on the field to get him taken care of. I’d been the last one out of the locker room to finish getting him taken care of too. As a noob, I had to work twice as hard. As a woman, I had to work ten times as hard.

“I have three younger sisters. I have more experience than most with guys deserving ass kickings.”

The last of the guys wandered by us. Without the break of their bodies coming between us, Archer’s stare became too intense. His eyes seemed capable of pinning me to the back of the seat.

The head athletic trainer, Dax Shepherd, attended to the “money” players—the ones like Archer, who brought fans to the stadium and were a large part of the Shock’s impressive win-to-loss ratio. Up until this very moment, I didn’t know Luke Archer was aware of my existence on this team or the planet.

“You really have three younger sisters?” I asked.

Unlike most of the female populace, I didn’t know every last fact about Luke Archer. The news about his parents had made headlines a few years back, and that was all I knew about his personal life.

“I really do. And I talk to or text all of them every day.”

“Plus you kick asses for them.”

Archer’s hazel eyes lightened. “Plus that.” He twisted in his seat so he was almost facing me, his eyes dropping to the phone in my lap. “So? No one messes with my sisters. And no one messes with my team.”

My forehead creased. “I’m not one of your teammates.”

“You’re a part of my team. Just because you don’t play the field or swing a bat doesn’t mean you’re not. You keep us healthy and strong out there.” When I cocked an eyebrow, he added, “And when we get injured, you make sure we get fixed up quickly so we can get back to doing what we love. You’re every bit as vital to this team as . . .” He glanced up and down the aisle like he was looking for someone to fill in the blank with.

“As Luke Archer?” I completed for him.

His answer to that was a lifting of his eyes. “I’m one man who can swing one bat.”

“One bat really, really hard. And very, very exactly,” I interjected.

He continued, “You make sure twenty-five men can keep swinging their own bats.”

“Well, there’s me, the two other athletic trainers, the physical therapist, the personal trainers, and the actual doctor who help out with that too. I can’t take all of the credit.”

“Come on. You work twice as hard as any of them, so you should at least take most of the credit.” When his phone started chiming in his slacks’ pocket, he pulled it out, turned it off, and hid it back in his pocket.

“And since the closest Shepherd and Coach Beckett have let me get to you is handing out a water bottle, how would you know that?”

He pointed at his eyes. “I’ve got two of these and use them for observation on occasion.”

“When they’re not searching for your next conquest?” I gave an internal groan the moment after I’d voiced something that should have stayed unsaid.

My relationships with the players had always been professional and rarely, if ever, delved into the realm of personal information. If it didn’t have to do with preventing or tending to injuries, I didn’t bring it up.

Until now. When I’d just suggested that Luke Archer had a reputation in every city the Shock had visited, every hotel they’d stayed in. Perfect way for my first real conversation with the star player of the team, and the whole of professional baseball, to go.

Archer stayed quiet, studying me with that tipped smile he was famous for.

“You know my opinion on rumors?” he said a minute later.

I was capable of nothing more than shaking my head.

“That they’re started by haters. Spread by fools. And accepted by idiots.”

My head tipped. “Are you calling me an idiot?”

His eyes flashed. “Are you calling me a manwhore?”

I studied him lounging in his seat with his legs kicked out in front of him, his wide chest stretching beneath his suit jacket, his long arms resting on the armrests.. His body was enough to weaken the resolve of someone as jaded to player players as I was, but his face didn’t play second-string.

Brown hair lightened by the sun, smooth skin darkened by it, a strong jaw, and hazel eyes that trended more toward the green end of the spectrum; Luke Archer was quite possibly the most attractive man I’d ever laid eyes on. According to Sports Anonymous’s random poll of five thousand women, he was the best-looking guy in professional sports today. The other few billion women on the planet would have agreed with that title, I assumed.

“Do you always take so long to answer a question?” Archer motioned at me, waiting.

“No,” I said, recalling the last question he’d asked me. Snap out of it. “I don’t think that you’re a  . . . manwhore,” I whispered the last part.

I’d had enough experience with the rumor mill to be a sympathetic party to the target of so many. Being one of the first and only female athletic trainers in professional sports had opened me up to a hundred rumors when I’d been hired. All versions of them had to do with me fucking my way into the position.

“Good.” Archer nodded, seeming satisfied. “Because you certainly don’t seem like an idiot.”

           He nodded again. “Welcome.”

That was when the pilot’s voice echoed through the team jet, running through his usual spiel. We were leaving Tampa and heading up to Chicago. Now that the season was in full swing, I lost track of the cities we were leaving and the ones we were heading toward. All of my attention was focused on the players and getting them through the season as injury-free as possible.

“I’m still waiting for that name, Doc.” Archer clicked his seat belt into place when one of the attendants stopped beside him, looking ready to strap it into place for him.

When she saw mine unfastened, all I got was a lifted brow and a pointed finger before she moved on to the next aisle.

“Oh, it’s okay. He’s not worth it.” I lifted my phone toward him before dropping it in the duffel bag I kept on hand at all times. Bandages, tape, painkillers, and a small cooler of ice packs were always at the ready whenever I was with the team. “Any guy who breaks up with someone via text message isn’t worth much.”

“Really? Over text?” Archer’s eyes narrowed. “That’s the reason the ass-kicking was invented. For those types of guys.”

I shrugged as the plane started to taxi down the runway, the interior lights dimming. “We haven’t even been together a month. Truthfully, it lasted longer than I thought it would. This kind of lifestyle”—I twirled my finger around the airplane—“makes it difficult to sustain a long-term relationship.”

“That’s why I’m not a fan of them.”

           “Long-term relationships?”

Any kind of relationship,” he said.

I nodded my understanding. The players had it worse than the team staff. At least in terms of having to question if a person was into them for who they were or because of their job, and the fame and money that came with it.

“I’m either practicing for a game, playing a game, recovering from a game, or fueling up and resting for a game. There’s not time for much else,” he said.

Leaning into my armrest, I realized how strange it was to be having such an easy conversation with Luke Archer. It felt natural, not forced. Most of the players would take a moment to chat with me about something game-related, but I was still the new kid on the block. I felt like I had to pass some test before they’d accept me as a member of the team.

Archer didn’t seem to be of the same mind though.

“Yeah, I know. It’s like you need to find someone who can just travel with you wherever you go, right?” I said, thinking how much easier it would to be in a relationship with someone I got to see on a daily basis without two computer screens.

“Exactly. Someone who understands the lifestyle. Appreciates the sacrifices you have to make.”

My head fell back into the headrest from the inertia of takeoff, but I could still feel Archer’s eyes on me. “Someone who understands that the job comes first. Someone who doesn’t get insecure or jealous or bent out of shape that they get the few precious minutes in between the job.”

When my head turned toward him again, I found Luke Archer staring at me with a kind of intensity I hadn’t seen aimed my way in a long time. My breath caught, and even though the strength of his stare threatened to overwhelm me, I held his gaze.

“Someone who understands the game. The commitment. The time. The sacrifice. Someone who’s as committed to it as you are.” One corner of his mouth twitched, carving a dimple into his cheek. “It’s not like you could ever expect to find a person like that sitting in the row across the aisle from you, right?”

Revenge had given him the will to live. Revenge against Viper and the Jacks. Revenge against Jagger and the Sinner’s Tribe. Once he was free, his wrath would know no bounds.

At long last we get T-Rex’s story. I can’t even tell you how excited I was when I got my hands on this book.  And oh boy what a story it was. Sarah laid everything out on the table to bring us this story filled with so much heat, violence, determination and angst.  Holt (T-Rex) is on a mission for vengeance and when Naiya comes into his life giving him a second chance at freedom there isn’t anything that will stand in his way from getting what he wants.

This story has so much going on.  The Sinner’s believe Holt is dead. Holt believes the Sinner’s abandoned him to Viper’s dungeon where he was mercilessly tortured, starved and beaten. A great thing about this story is we also get some of Tank’s pov. Tank had kept on hoping that his best friend, his brother was still alive. He never wanted to believe what he was told about his friend being dead. Seeing how much T-Rex’s absence affected him was heart breaking.

Holt and Naiya’s story is a long one, and it’s not always pretty. Both of these characters have been put through hell. Viper has left them broken. They are wounded and there is danger at every turn. Holt is not the same man that got captured by Viper.   This man is broken in many ways yet stronger than he ever was. His outlook is different and his passion for the club has been shaken. The only thing he knows for sure is wanting revenge, protecting his woman and having his best friends back.

He had a woman to protect. A predator to lure.
A Viper to kill.

Once again this author has given us a strong female heroine that we could respect.  I really loved that Naiya didn’t cower, cry or run when the going got tough and she wasn’t afraid to use her mouth. She refused to follow in her mother’s footsteps. I loved how much she grounded Holt and gave him new purpose.  The connection and desire between these characters is strongly felt on every page. There is no doubting Holt’s confusion and struggles while he comes to terms with how his brothers really reacted after he was taken.  And there is no question how much Naiya and Holt need each other.

The thing I love the most is how hard, gritty, violent and tough the Sinner’s can be, but even in the face of some of the most diabolical things I’ve ever read in a story, the men have this soft side when it comes to woman. I love how much they respect them, protect them and treat them well.  I will say it’s been 4 books now and I say this every time, but I really HATE Viper. The more I learn of him the more I just wish I could take him out myself. He is so vile and disgusting.   This story that is filled with so much passion and emotion was engaging and I was invested the whole way through.  And OMG the angst near the end. Well played Sarah, well played! This is a must read for anyone who is a fan of this series.

Jen's review

5 stars

I love a good rock star book and it feels like it’s been a while since I’ve had my hands on one that I was completely enthralled with. I can’t tell you how happy I am that this was everything I hoped it would be and more.  The first chapter had me.  From beginning to end there are so many feels on every page. I had such an intense need to know more about these characters and their story. I seriously could not put this book down.  I just never wanted it to end.  I’ve never read anything by this author before but I can tell that is going to definitely change. A.M Arthur has really created such a special story between some very loveable characters that not only was I completely, emotionally invested but also where I totally believed in these characters.  I loved every moment and there isn’t anything I would have changed.  This author really has done an outstanding job with this story.

Trey and Dom’s story is one that should be made into a movie.  Two rival bands competing in one of the biggest music competitions. Sparks fly on and off stage when Trey and Dom meet at an open mic and create beautiful music together. These guys initially didn’t know who the other was but after their first night together there is such a pull that there is no denying what their bodies want.  These guys were just so amazing together.

“Dude, your ass better be ready to cash the check your mouth is writing.”
“Oh, it’s more than ready,”
who cared if Coop was a total slut or pickier than a vegan in a steakhouse. Dom was getting fucking laid tonight, and he was very, very eager to judge Coop’s cute ass for himself.

This story wasn’t filled with too much angst and honestly I’m so thankful for that because there are some pretty tough, heavy moments, and some things that were really hard to hear so we didn’t need added angst thrown in. My heart broke for these characters that have been through and experienced more than anyone should.  The highs are high in this story. The love been Trey and Dom is undeniable. Their story is passionate, innocent, exciting and very special. A once in a life time true love. These guys had my heart beating and filled with so much joy. Trey and Dom are just so perfect for each other. Not saying their journey was easy because it wasn’t. They did have bumps in the road and some serious demons to overcome, but these guys were just so real, raw and honest that you just want to cheer for them on the sidelines.

They became one entity, creating beautiful music and baring the soul of a beautiful man.

I am so excited that this is the beginning of a series. This book was so well written and the vivid descriptions and dialog kept this reader completely engaged the whole way. The banter between these characters is a perfect balance between the heavy and the light. I’m so looking forward to seeing more from all these band members. If you are looking for a rock star book with some pretty incredible characters then this is one you definitely want to pick up.

About The Author

A.M. Arthur was born and raised in the same kind of small town that she likes to write about, a stone’s throw from both beach resorts and generational farmland.  She’s been creating stories in her head since she was a child and scribbling them down nearly as long, in a losing battle to make the fictional voices stop.  She credits an early fascination with male friendships (bromance hadn’t been coined yet back then) and “The Young Riders” with her later discovery of and subsequent love affair with m/m romance stories.

An avid reader of het romance, her first foray into reading published m/m romance (slash fanfic doesn’t count) is thanks to a Dear Author review of K.A. Mitchell’s CHASING SMOKE. After devouring K.A.’s existing backlist, she dove headfirst into other authors. While she prefers contemporary, she’ll occasionally sample an historical or SFF m/m romance.

A.M. wrote her first m/m stories in the guise of Kish fanfic (the Kyle/Fish romance from cancelled soap opera “One Life to Live.” As her stories were met with more and more positive feedback, A.M. was inspired to try her hand at creating original m/m romance. And the rest is history.

When not exorcising the voices in her head, she toils away in a retail job that tests her patience and gives her lots of story fodder.  She can also be found in her kitchen, pretending she’s an amateur chef and trying to not poison herself or others with her cuisine experiments.

September 28, 2001

Seventeen days ago, my life caught fire.
Two planes. Two towers. Nothing will ever be the same.
The fire at Ground Zero is still burning, and somewhere inside the smoky piles of rubble is my father. Do I want them to find him? For the first week, I did. I stayed home from school every day and stared at the TV, praying I’d see them pull my dad from what’s left.
I told myself over and over that he couldn’t be gone. David Wentworth was too strong to be taken down like that. He’d show them all. My dad would come crawling out of the pile of debris, still wearing his dark suit. He’d probably pull other people out, too. My dad is like that. He does things people say are impossible.
But the second week, my mom said I had to go back to school. When I told her I wouldn’t go because I was waiting for my dad to be rescued, her shoulders fell.
“He’s gone, Andrew.”
“You don’t know that. Dad’s a fighter.”
She shook her head. “I know it’s hard for a thirteen-year-old to wrap his head around. I know. You want him to be here, and I do, too. But he’s gone. It’s just you and me now.”
I glared at her, my throat burning. How could she give up on him like that? I’d never give up on my dad. I went back to my spot in his favorite leather chair in our living room and turned up the news on TV.
But after two weeks, my school counselor came to our house to see me. He frowned and told me no one could survive for two weeks in there. Then he gave me a pamphlet titled, “It’s Okay to Cry.” I crumpled up his advice on grieving and threw it in the trash.
I wasn’t going to cry. My dad wouldn’t want that. He’d always told me a man’s true measure was his strength.
“Chin up, Andrew. You’re a Wentworth. We’re made of steel.”
Today we’re having a memorial service for him. My chin will stay up, and my back will stay straight. When I look at the family pictures of my parents and me on a long table at the funeral home and my eyes start to feel watery, I pinch my leg through the pocket of my suit pants. The burning sting in my thigh makes me angry instead of sad.
Better. Dad used to yell at people from his company sometimes, so I know he wouldn’t mind me being angry. At night, when I’m staring up at the stars me and Dad stuck on my ceiling when I was little, my stomach twists and hurts with the anger I feel for the men who killed my dad.
They murdered thousands of people. I’m not the only kid without a dad now. Everyone is scared. Nothing will ever be the same.
My mom covers her mouth with her hand, crying as one of her friends squeezes her arm and talks to her. They did that, too. They made my mom cry. My dad wouldn’t stand for that.
Since he’s gone, I have to be the strong one now. I have to take care of my mom like he would. I have to think about what dad would want for us. I have to hold on tight to my need for those men to pay for what they did to my dad.
The firefighters will eventually extinguish the smoldering fire at Ground Zero, but the fire burning inside of me will never go out.

First Comes Love by Emily Giffin **Debbie’s Review**

First Comes Love

In this dazzling new novel, Emily Giffin, the #1 New York Times bestselling author of Something Borrowed, Where We Belong, and The One & Only introduces a pair of sisters who find themselves at a crossroads.

Growing up, Josie and Meredith Garland shared a loving, if sometimes contentious relationship. Josie was impulsive, spirited, and outgoing; Meredith hardworking, thoughtful, and reserved. When tragedy strikes their family, their different responses to the event splinter their delicate bond.

Fifteen years later, Josie and Meredith are in their late thirties, following very different paths. Josie, a first grade teacher, is single—and this close to swearing off dating for good. What she wants more than the right guy, however, is to become a mother—a feeling that is heightened when her ex-boyfriend’s daughter ends up in her class. Determined to have the future she’s always wanted, Josie decides to take matters into her own hands.

On the outside, Meredith is the model daughter with the perfect life. A successful attorney, she’s married to a wonderful man, and together they’re raising a beautiful four-year-old daughter. Yet lately, Meredith feels dissatisfied and restless, secretly wondering if she chose the life that was expected of her rather than the one she truly desired.

As the anniversary of their tragedy looms and painful secrets from the past begin to surface, Josie and Meredith must not only confront the issues that divide them, but also come to terms with their own choices. In their journey toward understanding and forgiveness, both sisters discover they need each other more than they knew . . . and that in the recipe for true happiness, love always comes first.

Emotionally honest and utterly enthralling, First Comes Love is a story about family, friendship, and the courage to follow your own heart—wherever that may lead.

Debbie's review

4.5 stars

4.5 Amazingly Written Stars!!!!

This book was way more than I expected and I was sad to see it end. I wanted to know what happens next. From the very beginning I became connected to all the characters in this story. That is not to say that some of them did not piss me off several times especially Meredith. Towards the end of this book I really started to dislike her character. I felt she was selfish and didn’t care about the sacrifices others made. I really felt sorry for her husband Nolan. I felt that Meredith and Josie should have the others life. It was like the life they chose was not the right life for them. It would have been better if Josie would of married Nolan and Meredith was the one in her late thirties still out there dating and looking for Mr. Right.

I loved the relationship that Josie and Gabe had. Some parts of the story I was really rooting for them. I also fell for Pete too and my feelings went back and forth on whom she should chose for her baby daddy. The chemistry between Josie and Gabe was fantastic and so was the banter that went on.  The death of their brother Daniel changed the family dynamics and also put false ideas as to what the family would have been like if he had not died.

This book was on point and nothing was rushed and I never felt like skimming chapters. I fell hard for these characters and was glued to my reading device from start to finish. The story was told perfectly and you could not help but connect to the characters and feel like you were on this journey with them. I am really hoping the author has plans for a second book. I would love to know what happens next. I felt like this is no way near the end of this story. I need closure.

“I know by now that you can’t control your life, no matter how hard you try. That inevitably people leave and disappoint and die. But there is one constant, one thing you can always count on: that not only dies love come first, but in the end, it is the only thing that remains.”
