Debbie's review

4.5 stars

This is the fourth book in this series but can be read as a standalone.  Author Stephanie Smith did not disappoint with this one either. I loved the third book and was supper excited to find out at the end of it that Georgia was getting her own book and it was the next book in this series. Loved her character and could not wait to read her story.

Georgia’s story was a little more serious and pulled at your heartstrings. Georgia was done with the dating scene and wanted to have a baby still even though it seemed like the traditional way was out of the question. So Georgia takes matters into her own hands and decides to go out and find a baby daddy.

“Phase one: Find a guy. Phase two: et the contract signed. Phase three: Medical tests and clearances. Phase four: Make a baby. It doesn’t sound that hard, but I think it may be trickier that I anticipated.”

That is where Henry enters the picture. I had a love/hate relationship with Henry through out most of the book and there were times I wanted to junk punch him. I loved his alpha side but I wanted to shake some sense into him several times too. He was just so darn stubborn. The chemistry and banter between the two of them was fantastic though. I loved how she stood up for what she believed and didn’t take his crap.

The book moved at the perfect pace and loved having the whole gang in this book as secondary characters too. They added just the perfect amount of humor and side story to plot. This book had me hooked from start to finish but when I book is written just so well you can’t be surprised. No unnecessary fluff just details that kept me wanting to keep going and see what was going to happen next. I am looking forward to reading whatever book this author releases next. I love her writing style.

When my father died I inherited the Bad News Bears of the NBA, the Seattle Stallions. To add insult to injury my ex-fiancé, Brock was the team’s star point guard.

The only reason I haven’t jumped ship yet is because prior to my father, Charlie Cohen, dying I learned he recruited a baller who was going to make the Seattle Stallions “road to hell” a lot more interesting.

Trae Rhodes

When Charlie Cohen called me and asked to return to the game, I thought he had lost his mind. He wanted me to come and play for his ‘Little Pony’s’, there was no way in hell that would happen. But when he sends me the team roster and salaries followed by an offer that was more than his star point guards, I knew there was something foul about his play.

There is nothing I liked more than a foul play that involved Brock fucking Boeheim, so I accepted his advance and gave him a promise I would be there in the fall when training started. Brock and I have history, a score to settle.

In the last two months I have done three things, fuck, get my head back in the game I love and come up with a way to get revenge on the person who took it all away to begin with, Brock.

Battleground (Battler Series Book Two) by C.L. Masonite Blog Tour, Review & Giveaway

Title: Battleground

The Final thrilling conclusion to the Battler Series:

I’ve been exiled by royal, Wolfe decree. I’ve become invisible and with my back pressed up against the wall I have two choices …
One – Be silent and live a life in the shadows – filled with regret and loss … or

Two – Raze hell and break the goddamn doors to the kingdom down.
The former requires backing down and the second requires stepping onto the battleground.

Josie's review

4.5 stars

Battleground was the best book in this two book series.  I enjoyed the first book and was swept away by the Riletta, Drasko and Trent but  I couldn’t wait to get my hands this book. I needed to see how this story would turn out and the author did an amazing with this conclusion.  I highly recommend you reading the first book before diving into Battleground. This story or the better yet this journey unfolds slowly starting in that book.

I experienced so many highs and lows while reading this book.  I’ll admit I had my reservations in book 1 with all the teenage drama but the writing and plot development with that book was just amazing. We pick up where we left off with Riletta and Drasko dealing with a shocking revelation.  We seriously see Riletta’s character grow in this book. She’s stronger and a fighter here.  She knows things are different for her and Drasko but she’s not willingly to be pushed aside either.  Things are pretty dicey for her character and there were times that Drasko actions nearly broke her. She never faltered in her determination to be apart of his life in some way.

I absolutely love that we get Drasko and Trent’s POV’s. We got to see what makes these eccentric and powerful boys the way they are.  These 2 boys are literally broken without Riletta in their lives and each will show a vulnerability in this book.  We see these boys as mean, cold hearted and calculating in this series and I thought the worse until we were graced with their side of the story. At that point I saw them both in a different light.  Drasko was nothing at all what he appeared to be.  We see how harsh of a life the boys had under their fathers manipulations.   We are introduced to two new characters in this book and they only added to the excitement.

There was so much angst, pain and heartache in this story but there was an even balance of laughter and new found friendships. My heart broke for Drasko and Riletta because there is an intense love and connection between them while they try to deal with the bombshells thrown at them.  Riletta isn’t the only keeping secrets, we get to see the dynamics with the Wolfe brothers and I’m glad that Trent stepped up.  C.L. Masonite wrote an amazing conclusion, honestly there could be no other way but to conclude their stories the way this author did.  The story flowed easily and the twists and turns added to the intrigue and lure of this book.  I’m sorry to see these characters go but I’m sure we haven’t seen the last from this author and I can’t wait to see what comes next.

Josie's review

4.5 stars

Tiny Threads is a short read but it packs one heck of a punch and that is putting it lightly.  I am not sure why I have not read a book from this author in the past but from here on out I sure will.  I love a book that leaves me breathless, stressed and panting at the same time and this author delivers in this book.  I loved how the author shows us how the two main characters story starts, shifting from present to past.  It helped me to see how much love the two characters shared and had me wanting to make sure things would work out for the entire family.  Such a fitting title for the plot and the characters surrounding this book.

With that said, I had my moment’s people where I wanted to kick Royal in his butt, shake him around a bit and bitch slap a hoe.  This story is so believable in the sense that every marriage goes through rough patches, and neither party wants to admit they are wrong or be the cause of their demise.  This author really takes readers on a very ugly and chaotic journey with this couple and their children.

Jenna is a woman I can see myself in easily, you settle into your life and never think there is trouble ahead of you.  But this woman was not naïve at all, this is why I loved how the author developed and portrayed this character. Yes she fought for her marriage but she was not willing to be a fool of either.  The author shows that despite the obvious love she feels for her husband, she suffers with what she really wants and deserves.  Now Royal was not at the top of my list for 75% of this book. The man was naïve, stubborn and ignorant to what was around him.  I am telling you, prepare because you are going to want to throat punch and jump his bones at the same time.

I deeply enjoyed the deep rooted love the author details within this family. Even despite their obvious difficulty they both loved their children.  I wasn’t sure how things would end up for Royal and Jenna because they had a long road ahead in order to heal from betrayals, negative interference and hurts.  This book gets ugly before we get the pretty and for a short read it had me going crazy!!!  If you love a fast paced story that promises to take you on a ride in a short amount of time then this is your book.  The underlying message the author delivers in this book was amazing and spoke volumes, in a marriage there are ups and downs but with love and determination there is hope.

Debbie's review

4.5 stars

After that huge cliffy in the first book I was so excited to get my hands on this one and see what the heck was going to happen. I could not wait to get into the head of Jordan Tuttle. I had so many questions unanswered after book one and than the author does it to me again!!! More questions I need the answers to after finishing this one.

The characters in this story makes me want to pull my hair out and smash my kindle against the wall. They are so frustrating at times I wanted to throat punch them while reading this.  I feel like it is constant misunderstandings and bad communication. They waste so much time second-guessing the other person instead of just talking to them. This is high school drama at its best that is for sure. The author knows how to right drama!!!! I felt like I was back in high school going through all the crap right along with them.

This book picks up where the last one left off except it is told in Amanda and Jordan’s POV. Amanda was the sweet friend of Livvy’s in the first book. Amanda was betrayed by her former best friend and boyfriend. You can see why Amanda has trust issues that is for sure. Jordan is the popular boy that just wants to be understood and he finds that in Amanda but he has issues of his own and can’t express to her exactly how he feels.

“That’s my problem. I’m in love with Jordan Tuttle. I’m madly in love with him, and he doesn’t love me back.”

“She’s Amanda Winters. I’ve had a ridiculous crush on her for years. Not just for her beauty – and she’s pretty, don’t get me wrong- but it’s her mind that I’m attracter to. She’s smart. And Funny. She makes me smile and she makes me think. She challenges me.”

The book has great character development and a really good drama filled story line. I just hate the fact that I have to wait for the next book to see how things are going to turn out.

Watcher (Rebel Wayfarers MC #9) by MariaLisa deMora Release & Review

Watcher is known in the MC community as a man with strong beliefs. His sense of honor has been built in him from childhood, forged in the mountains of Kentucky, rooted there by family and circumstance. In the ever-changing world of outlaws, he’s made a place for himself, winning a seat at the table for negotiations and decisions that impact not only his club, but those around him. Powerful men ask for his counsel, revealing a trust and respect that can only be earned. His family loves and supports him, too, and he protects his wife and children with a fierceness that consumes. Enemies loom on the horizon, because for every man he calls brother, there are those who would take everything from him.

Full description:
Michael Otey learned early in life that people outside the ranks of family and close friends were not to be trusted. They were the kind of folks who would use you right up, betraying and throwing you away once your usefulness was exhausted. At sixteen, life nearly derailed in a moment of rage, he was presented with two impossible choices. He selected a track, prayed it was the right one, and set foot on the path of honor, because even at such a young age, he knew honor mattered.

Almost immediately things started looking up in his life. The Army molded him into a soldier, giving him no choice but to excel. Through years of service, the men in his unit forced him to become a leader, moving him to that role by demonstrating with every action that they believed he was trustworthy. Brothers in arms.

That was when death and destruction once again rocked his world, forcing another impossible choice. Pierced through with a thirst for vengeance, raging and alone, he gravitated towards the kind of men who shared his feelings. Hard men, but ones filled with an unshakable sense of honor. Members of a motorcycle club who were not afraid to wreak devastation in support of the found family they shared. The Outriders MC. Brothers in spirit.

To escape the ghosts haunting them both, his older brother had launched his own club, filled with veterans and soldiers. His brother’s stories about his members set up a longing deep inside him, and Mike found himself reaching towards the forgiveness and peace his brother had found. But, in an atmosphere drowning in blood and hate, peace was hard to find. Determined to start fresh, it wasn’t long before Mike, now known as Watcher, followed his brother west, finding a true home as a Southern Soldiers. Brothers in truth.

Then, on what should have been a routine run into Old Mexico, Watcher was confronted by both loss and hope. He saved a doe-eyed beauty from a life branded by pain, but in turn lost the last close link to his family. In her it seemed he found a reason for carrying on, even perhaps a chance at love. As he rebuilt his life, he vowed to keep her safe and the club strong, promising to protect everything that mattered. Brothers. Family. Honor. To do that, Watcher would need to open long-tattered connections to Kentucky, reaching far into his pain-filled past and calling on Davis Mason and the Rebel Wayfarers MC.

Whoever fights monsters should see to it that in the process he does not become a monster.

From Chapter 1: Kentucky backwoods

Fifteen-year-old Michael Otey stood at the top of the path, shoulders back, long arms relaxed at his sides. His ma promised he’d grow into his reach soon, said Mikey just had to be patient. From where he waited, right where the path doglegged sharply, he could see the pitch in the grade as the dirt track plunged down the steep mountainside towards the holler. He was watching his pa and one of their neighbors walk the trail that led towards the mine entrance. Not quite dawn, the early light streaming through the fog-filled air created odd shadows, making the men appear as dark silhouettes—featureless and eerie when glimpsed through the trees. His pa turned just before the path crooked at the bottom of the hill and waved, one long arm extending far over his head and holding there until Mikey waved back.

Next year Mikey would be pacing the same trail alongside them, taking his turn in the elevator to be deposited into the bowels of the earth. Not yet, though. His pa was adamant Mikey not take the burden on until he was at least sixteen.

Turning and jogging five long strides off the path and into the woods, Mikey oriented himself, then set off at a steady trot back home, staying off the path for this leg of the trip. Eyes down, he scanned the ground ahead and to either side, occasionally stopping to collect black morel mushrooms growing from the hillside. Practiced motions allowed him to leave the roots intact, the soft stems of the black and gray fungus falling to the pinching pressure of thumb meeting fingertip. Elbow tucked inside the bag slung over his shoulder, Mikey cradled the mushrooms in both hands as he opened the container and placed them inside. With a self-satisfied grin, he allowed himself a moment of pride at the haul he would be dropping on his mama’s table in about five minutes. Morels were a cash crop on a good week and a stew-stretcher on a bad one. She would be well pleased because most of the ‘shrooms were big and clean.

In the barn later that afternoon, he’d been working his way through the daily list of jobs, and was measuring out chicken feed. This was normally Tabby’s chore, but at only six, she was too short to reach the bottom of the barrel, and was prone to lean too far, tipping herself inside. So, when it was nearly empty, as it currently was, dipping out a scoop or two of grain on her behalf was far easier than retrieving an angry little sister from the depths of the round prison. It hadn’t happened often, but for him even once was too much, so if he were in a place to do so, he would meet her in the barn of an evening and help fill her bucket. Mikey was head-and-chest inside the barrel, scraping down near the bottom, having tuned out her little voice ratchet-jawing away above him. Tabby was jabbering animatedly about a dolly she’d seen in the mail-order catalog and how her birthday was only four months away when he felt it come over him. A spine-tingling strangeness washing through the air like soot before a storm.

First was the stillness. It seemed like noises were caught on the wind like cottonwood seeds in a cobweb; the waves of sound suspended as if they were dust motes in a sunbeam.

Then Pa’s old mare squealed. The normally sedate horse kicked out hard at the walls of her wooden stall, the sounds she made were both sharp and dull at the same time.

The earth underneath his feet stretched, jolting everything in the barn. It set the tools hanging from the long wall jangling discordantly against each other. Thinner metallic pings of hay tongs fighting against deeper gongs from shovels and rakes. Rattling and tumbling off the wall, falling in an awkward heap along the edge of the floor. Tabby’s voice, raised in a shout, quickly cut off. As fast as the ground had lifted, it seemed scarcely a breath later when it fell back into place, the shudder that accompanied it moving through Mikey’s bones, setting his teeth to aching as it tumbled him into the barrel headfirst. He pressed his hands to the sides of the container, legs kicking, arms working to edge himself backwards.

Finally, sound re-entered the world with a rush, coming with the faraway shrill racket of the emergency whistle three hollers over. Tinny and high-pitched when heard from his location, he knew if he were closer—when he stood under the tower during one of their monthly tests—the sound would beat like a fist, threatening to split his head down the middle with its ferocity. Tabby’s frightened questions echoed through the metal, words warped until they were unrecognizable. “Hold on,” he told her, shoving again and feeling the barrel’s metal lip bite into his waist. “Can’t hear ya, Tabby. Hold on.”

He had barely extracted himself from the barrel when Ma ran into view, coming to a halt in the barn doorway. Chest heaving from her sprint from the house, her eyes were wide and nearly as frightened as the mare’s, showing whites all around. “Mikey,” she half screamed, half yelled, “you see to Tabby. I’ma goin’ to the mine.” She didn’t even wait for his response. She simply whirled on her heel and then raced away, long legs eating the distance, toes flying out in front of her to punch down into the ground. Then her knee lifted and she hit her stride, the kick of her muscles driving her on again. He stood and stared at the slowly swinging door for a long time. Long after she was out of sight. Long after Tabby had gone quiet—questions lodged in her throat as the seriousness settled onto her. Long enough for the siren to cut off, winding down to a silence more painful than the whistle had been.

Something bumped into his hip, and he looked down to see Tabby had her face buried in his side, arms wrapped around his waist. Her grabbing him hadn’t registered, but the sight—her bucket, empty but still dangling from her arm, handle digging into her skin, swinging once again to tap lightly at his hip—broke him from the paralysis threatening to swallow him whole. Carefully peeling her off him, he took the bucket and dropped it into the barrel, then bent in and filled it. “Here you go, Tabs,” he said gently, straightening and holding it out. A taste of normal would help settle them both. “Go take care of the hens.”

She reached and took the bucket from his hands, her little arms strained with the weight. Still facing away from him, her words asked the empty doorway, “When’s Ma gonna be home?”

“I don’t know, Tabs.” Gaze on the same doorway, bereft of movement, stripped of hope, he repeated himself, underscoring his feelings of helplessness at the moment. “I don’t know.”

Watcher is a long and emotional read, full of so many highs and so many lows.  It is a story that tore my heart and slowly mended it back together.  When I think of a word that would best describe this telling journey it would be – over-the-top.  I have followed MariaLisa deMora and the Rebel Wayfarers MC series from the very beginning and every time I am fortunate enough to read another book by this amazing author I am brought to my knees over and over again.  How she manages to develop these amazing characters and moving plots is unbeknownst to me.

What makes this book so special is how we get to see the main character, Watcher grow from a young man to the amazing, mature, loyal and loving man he is today.  Watchers story is touching and drew me in from the very beginning as did the characters and experiences that transpired. It really touched my heart.  His life was not an easy one, as was the life of the people that he met along his journey, there were times that I just cried and screamed out loud and suffered along with this man.

I am not sure how it was possible but this author managed to get me to feel all the pain, passion, love and anger the characters experienced.  I watched and cheered with them in their triumphs and felt their defeats. I cried and rejoiced with every roadblock that was standing in front of Watcher.

Watcher’s story is a journey and one that will stay with me for a while. That is really saying something since I love every single book that is in this series.  I enjoyed seeing how this man found a family with not only the members of the Rebel Wayfarers MC but also the love of a woman and family he desperately needed.  This story made me smile, cry, laugh and cry again.  It was an emotional journey that made me fall so much more in love with this author and the characters.  We get to see the past and a small insight into the future of the Rebel Wayfarers MC and I am so glad and honored to have been a part of this journey.

Raised in the south, MariaLisa learned about the magic of books at an early age. Every summer, she would spend hours in the local library, devouring books of every genre. Self-described as a book-a-holic, she says “I’ve always loved to read, but then I discovered writing, and found I adored that, too. For reading … if nothing else is available, I’ve been known to read the back of the cereal box.”

A hockey fan, hiker, gamer, and single mom of a special needs son, she embraces her inner geek and has been working in the tech field for a publishing company for a couple decades.

Music is a driving passion, and she says, “I love music of nearly any genre — jazz, country, rock, alt rock, metal, classical, bluegrass, rap, hip hop … you name it, I listen to it. I can often be seen dancing through the house in the early mornings. But I really, REALLY love live music. My favorite thing with music is seeing bands in small, dive bars [read: small, intimate venues]. If said bar [venue] has a good selection of premium tequila, then that’s a plus!”

Infinitely Mine is book three in the Incapable series and should not be read as a standalone.

Marie Skye has done it again, this is a brilliant finale to this all-consuming series.  We pick up where book two ended and it instantly had my attention from the first page to the very end.  As in her previous books, this book has everything we wanted. The thrill, drama, love, angst and the overwhelming attraction and sexiness between the characters is remarkable.  I am sad that we have to say goodbye to Grayson and Emmalin, but what a goodbye it was!

The author has done such great work with giving us a remarkable ending for this amazing couple. There was never a dull moment, she ripped my heart out and slowly put it back together.  I loved how we got to see more of the couple’s pasts and how well they were truly made for one another.

I really felt while reading that I got to know the characters on a personal level. Emmalin and Grayson have a very tempestuous relationship but their love never falters even through all the pain they face.

Emmalin makes a choice to give Grayson a chance at happiness and despite it meaning that she loses the love her life, she walks away.  We see a side of Grayson we have never seen in the previous books, he is no longer in control of his life and is left shattered and destroyed.

I thought Emmalin was a lot stronger than I initially gave her credit for. When truths are finally revealed, Grayson is immediately repentant of his choices and does what we come to expect of him.  He is controlled, calculating and dominate. He loves Emmalin and is determined to get her back at any costs.

This is a story I will not forget. This love story surpassed my expectations.  I loved how we do not get an immediate happily ever after with this couple. It is a fight but one that Grayson will not lose.  I prayed, screamed and cried for this couple.  If you followed this series from the beginning get ready for the mother of all conclusions because there were twists and turns, disappointment and happiness and every corner.  I can’t wait to see what this author will bring to the table next.

Hello! I’m your average career driven woman by day, and a hidden lover of all things dirty by night. Or as I like to say Professional by day. Book whore by night. I’ve always wanted to write, and decided one day ‘why not?’
We all have a story to tell.

Tru Blue by Melissa Foster Blog Tour & Review

Imagine falling in love with a man, then finding out he was a killer…TRU BLUE is a sexy, dark stand-alone novel written in the same loving, raw, and emotional voice romance readers have come to love, and the deeply emotional literary prose women’s fiction readers have come to expect, from New York Times & USA Today bestselling, award-winning author Melissa Foster.
He wore the skin of a killer, and bore the heart of a lover…

There’s nothing Truman Gritt won’t do to protect his family–Including spending years in jail for a crime he didn’t commit. When he’s finally released, the life he knew is turned upside down by his mother’s overdose, and Truman steps in to raise the children she’s left behind. Truman’s hard, he’s secretive, and he’s trying to save a brother who’s even more broken than he is. He’s never needed help in his life, and when beautiful Gemma Wright tries to step in, he’s less than accepting. But Gemma has a way of slithering into people’s lives and eventually she pierces through his ironclad heart. When Truman’s dark past collides with his future, his loyalties will be tested, and he’ll be faced with his toughest decision yet.

“Several emotional topics — such as drug addiction, abandonment, infertility and unexpectedly becoming a parent — are easily woven together without making the story feel crowded or overdone. Foster writes exceptional characters that keep readers thinking long after the book is finished… The dynamic members of the Whiskey family are the foundation that holds the group together and they are exactly the reason we’re taught not to judge. Let’s hope we hear more from all of them!” RT Book Reviews

4.5 stars

Did you see that cover? Hot tattoo hunk holding a baby?? Yeah I was sold on that alone.  Tru Blue is a sexy, raw and emotional read that just held my interest all the way through.  I love a good story that deals with a bad boy falling in love with the good girl, but this book was so different.  This bad boy was the sweetest, most gentle and swoon-worthy man.  The book deals with a lot of issues such as abuse, drug addictions and second chances at life.  It was easy to lose myself in this unique story about love, family, friends and hopes and dreams.

Tru – gah, I have so many thoughts in my head when I think about this character.  He is nothing at all what I expected.  Truman was modest, courteous, caring and brilliant.  He has a heart that is filled with so much love.  I could not get enough of his character. The way he just swept in and took over the role as care giver and parent to his 2 younger siblings was just so heart-warming.  I swear the man does time in jail all for the love of his family and you would think his heart would be harden but if anything it is bigger than the ocean itself.

The same night he takes in his siblings he also crosses paths with Gemma. Instead of being afraid of this tattooed bad boy, she is helpful and intrigued.  Gemma is a riot. She is pushy, feisty and loving.  She takes to Tru and the kids instantly.  She does not see the bad boy everyone else sees, she see the man who fights for his family. The man that treats his siblings as his own children and the man that lets her into their lives.

Tru Blue is a book that deals with many different feelings, joy, sorrow, dread, love, and even disgust. Despite the different lifestyle between Tru and Gemma they both ended up alienated from their family and alone.  The chemistry and relationship between Tru and Gemma was intense. Their journey to love and happiness is one that kept and held my attention despite their many twists and turns.  It is easy to fall in love with Tru and Gemma, the children and the side characters.  If you are looking for quick romantic read this is your book. The author packs a punch with this unique and interesting story.

His hand slides down my body to the waistband of my pants. He pauses. The pressure of his hand is a reminder of what I want. Of what I desire. Pushing my body firmly into his, I let him know what I need.

I need is his hands on me. His fingers in me.

He finds the button and undoes it. Wedges his hand between the thin material and my skin.

The pads of his fingertips slowly work themselves further downward. Each inch they travel sends a wave of chills to flow through my body; each nerve ending is pricked alive.

He pushes his hand lower and lower until I feel him trace the lace covering my most intimate spot. A whisper against my sensitive flesh.

“Please,” I moan, rotating my hips to help alleviate the hunger growing inside me. The flimsy material that covers me moves aside and his fingers trace down the seam of my skin. The movements are so slow, every part of my body quivers with anticipation.

“Dr. Montgomery, your next patient is here.” The receptionist’s voice slams through our lust filled haze.

“Sadness can break a person. It can make a home inside you, slowly building a wall around your soul.”

Ava once again proved she is one that pulls all your emotions out when she writes a story. I think she likes to break and then fix readers.  For me this book started off a little too slow but around mid mark I found myself completely connected and unable to put it down.  I actually told Ava she was going to be phoned in if I had to go to my own therapist.  This is an emotional, heartfelt roller coaster ride that leaves you really hurting for the main character and I give Ava so much credit for taking on the topics she did in this book and for really giving people the knowledge that there is help out there. I loved that this story line was so different then what is out there, it intrigued me to see where Ava was going to take us with Eve and Preston.  I was excited to see how a therapist/patient love story would go.  There is a bit of mystery to this story and to Eve that completely captivated me.  It took me a while to build a connection to these characters and to feel the spark. They have a insta-relationship between them but somehow Ava still was able to give the angst I need.  This is a story where you find yourself highlighting lines and then coming back to read them again because they are stuck in your heart.

Overall it’s a refreshing different read that gives you hope and I truly hope you give “different” a chance.

“We are two pieces of a puzzle and eventually we will be put back together.”

COVER REVEAL: Trick by Laramie Briscoe

Author: Laramie Briscoe
Genre: Contemporary/New Adult Romance
Cover Design: Kari Ayasha, Cover to Cover Designs
Release Date: January 13, 2017

A forced sentence leads to a reckless passion…….Hadley

When my husband walked out on me over a year ago, it devastated me. When the divorce papers came, it killed me. When we had to sell our house, it broke me.

But then he moved in with his new flavor of the month and told our daughter his new woman wasn’t into children. That pissed me off.

Now Riley feels abandoned, and I can’t make it better; no matter how hard I try. I’m desperate to help her adjust to the loss of a male figure in her life. The companion program that matches adults up with children who have loneliness and abandonment issues is my last hope.

The counselors tell me he’s doing community service hours, and I ask to sit in on his meetings with Riley. The minute I see him astride the matte black Harley, I know neither my nor Riley’s life will ever be the same again.

Community Service. Two words I should be thankful for, but I’m not. I resent the hours it’s away from building my business. The two previous kids I’d been paired up with didn’t work out because their mothers were more interested in getting in my bed. This next match with a little girl is my last hope. Unless this kid works out, I’m destined to serve time.

When they push her into the room wearing pink converse with a black dress, her crazy curls barely held back by the barrette in her hair, and studious glasses on her face, I can tell she’s scared – of new people, of change, of being pushed aside. Something inside of me breaks, and I want this girl to feel wanted again.

What I’m unprepared for is meeting her mom. The second our hands touch, there are fireworks, bright lights, and a picture of the future I could one day have. The future I’ve never allowed myself to wish for.

Community service becomes more than a chore, more than time I resent for being taken away from me. In the months that follow, I realize they’re just like me: they’ve been abandoned, left behind by the world, forgotten by those who should love them.

Thanks to the one last hope in both our lives – we found the light in the darkness we’d been searching for.
