Boys, Toys – Oh My Vol 2
By A.M. Willard

Genre: Romance

Is this what my life has become… Selling novelty items to couples…

I walked away from it all – the job, and the guy because he thought I was a stripper… The problem, I still want the guy, and I still blush at the word penis. Not as much, but the heat still rises when I stop to think about what I’m saying.

Yes, this is my new life and I have to find the confidence to live it like I own it.

I knew allowing her to walk away that night was a mistake… Now I have to find a way to show that I truly care about her, and maybe then she’ll understand that I can’t live my life without her.

The problem is she only wants to be friends, if that’s the only way I get her then it’ll have to be enough.

This is volume two and it picks up right were volume one left off. Charlie has been selling sex toys for 3 months and ignoring Cooper for just as long. The chemistry and banter between all the characters is great and the secondary characters add a nice layer to the plot.

The book is a quick read but it was still very entertaining. It is funny and sexy read. The author kept me wondering what type of trouble Charlie was going to get herself into next. I feel that Charlie’s character is growing and I love that she is learning as she goes along. She is stepping out of her comfort zone and becoming the woman she is meant to be. She is getting stronger and learning to not allow others to walk all over her. I love her friendship with Ginger and I think Ginger needs her own book too.

“Mentally I just killed Ginger a million times and took back her best friend card.”

You can’t help but not fall head over heels for Cooper. I loved that there was a chapter or two in his point of view. I kept wondering what was going on inside his head.  He is super sweet and really cares for Charlie but he has learned he has to back off and give her some space.

I am looking forward to the next volume, as I can’t wait to see what happens next between Cooper and Charlie.

4.5 stars

I must say I went into this one with apprehension of whether I would fully enjoy it or not with not having  read the first book in this series.   The author states that they can be read as stand alones but I have learned in the past from other series, that’s not always the case.  But I am so glad that was not the case with this one.

It was always just Raven and her dad until the day when he died tragically in a car accident and she was left to live with her Aunt.  She has always had so many unanswered questions about that day and why he was with another woman, Diana Pierce, and they had a one way tickets to Paris.  Soon after the accident, thanks to Diana’s family including her three sons, Raven’s dad’s reputation was forever ruined.  Raven struggled to get past this traumatic event and vowed to seek revenge.  Many years later Raven finds herself in Harrington owning a bar that is in desperate need of repair and is at the mercy of Diana Pierce’s youngest son Dalton and his company to do the repairs.   She is reluctant to agree to him doing them but soon sees this as an opportunity to find out some answers without him ever realizing it was her father that was with his mother that fateful day.  But she soon realizes there is more to Dalton Pierce and their parents story than she ever thought possible.

This I must say was a really fabulous read.  It was written in third person, which normally I am not a huge fan of but it was done so well that shortly after getting into the story, the fact that it was in third seems to fade away to being almost unnoticeable for me.  This book was such a great mix of fun and flirty, sweet and romantic and oh so very hot and sexy all with a nice lever of angst thrown in.   I also must add that this book did surprise me.   I was truly expecting this one to be a bit predictable with the storyline but when things finally came to a head, I was very pleasantly surprised and pleased that the author took the storyline in the direction she did rather than taking it the normal same old same old predictable way.

I loved both Raven and Dalton characters.  Raven was such a great strong, independent female lead character but at the same, under all those layers was still a little girl hurting from the loss of her father and so many unanswered questions.  I totally fell in love with Dalton’s character.  He was your typical guy but had that fun sweet side to him.  I loved his determination to win Raven over, again and again in this book.  And I must say I loved the banter as well as the sexual tension that the author built up between these two right from the very start.  Watching their relationship develop and deepen the more time we spent with these two characters was so enjoyable and kept me not wanting to put this one down.   I also must add that this series has a great cast of characters included in it.  I will definitely be going back to read everywhere and every way, really loved getting to know Morgan and Cal’s characters and want to check out their story.  But I must say I can’t wait for Sydney and Tristan’s story, I am a sucker for second chance romances and I love the lead up in this book for them.

This truly was a fabulous read that I thoroughly enjoyed, so glad I decided to check it out and I can’t wait to check out more of this author’s work.

This book is a modern day Cinderella type fairytale with a twist.  The book starts off great and had me hooked from cover to cover. It is a sweet and sexy read that has some twists and turns. I loved the chemistry and relationship between the two main characters Colin and Della. The back and forth banter was great.

After being forced to leave his country. Prince Colin moves outside of Charlotte with his brothers and sisters. This is where he runs into Della. She is the daughter of the groundkeeper. The story jumps 10 years ahead and Della cleans houses by day and dresses up as princesses at night but she doesn’t believe in fairy tales an happily ever afters. Colin for 10 years has kept his family in hiding and his true identity a secret even from his now best friend Della.  After Della learns the secrets that Colin has been keeping can Della forgive him and finally get her HEA? You are going to have to read this book to find out.  The author takes a simple story line but adds extremely interesting characters and weaves it into an interesting read.

I have read many books by author, Marquita Valentine. I love her style of writing and love that her books move at a great pace. She keeps me hooked from start to finish and all her characters always come off being realistic. I never have a hard time connecting with them. The royal family was fun and I loved the relationship that Della had with Collins little brothers. I fell head over heels for those two.  The back and forth banter between them was witty and kept me entertained.  I am looking forward to the next book in this series because I want to know how this family plans on getting their kingdom back.

5 stars

I’m a huge fan of K.M Scott. I love her writing style and the way she can make me feel about the characters needs, emotions and conflicts.  This book was a moving, emotional and nerve-wracking read.  I love when an author can bring out not only a smile to my face but also sadness, disappointment and fear.
If I Dream follows Ryder and Serena’s forbidden love.  These characters brought me to my knees. Both of them are from different sides of the streets but they were so perfect together.  My heart broke so many times reading how much they’d sacrifice for an impossible love.
Ryder has never been truly free because of his skill set.  He’s been fighting all his life to be free.  Serena gosh she’s the opposite of how a rich girl is supposed to be, she too fights for freedom.  Freedom from living under her father’s reign.
What sold me in this book was watching these characters form a bond and love that not even the forces against them could break.  The stolen moments together gave them a sense of freedom and solidified their love.   We see Ryder and Serena be who they really want to be. They express their dreams, desires and wants in life while living under uncertainty .  Their lives and choices are not that of their own.  Their lives have already been mapped out for them and Serena’s father will have it no other way.
Gosh, I can’t express enough that the loss, heartache and pain I witnessed Ryder and Serena go through literally had my heart on overload.  I think that’s another reason I loved this story so much.  The author kept switching up the plot so just when we’d get something beautiful, something bad would happen.
This was a great book, I can’t begin to  tell you how invested I was with the characters and the plot of the story.  It was hard for me to put it down and even harder when I got to the end.   Ryder and Serena will fight for the right to love and just as in real life, they will win some battles but also lose some.  I can’t wait to see more of Ryder and Serena’s story in the next book.

Oh this book I knew from the blurb I was entering a triangle and I knew from the title my heart was in for it.   What I was not prepared for was how intense I was going to connect to these characters and how fierce I was going to love a lawyer.  I am a complete rock star girl but this time a lawyer won my heart… I think .  Okay, right now a lawyer has my heart.   Josh and Hawke are two characters that give you everything you want in a story.  Josh gives you the warm and romantic while Hawke gives you the spice and trouble.  Hawke is everything a rock star is, drugs, sex and that fix me every one of us falls for.

Josh is what we fantasize about in book boyfriends.   I can’t even begin to explain him because I start to swoon and I ruined it.  Sam, I loved her and then I hated her and then I wanted to sit her down and scream at her.   I tried to understand her and honestly, I can and then I can’t.  I was literally all over the place with her.  I can’t get into these characters and their relationships to each other too much because it’s an interesting twist on a triangle, there is no cheating and there is no secrets everything is out there.   I warn this was an intense cliffhanger for me and left me screaming, and messaging people saying OH HELL NO!  Good news next book will be here within weeks making this totally worth it and one I highly recommend.

Watching Jude’s cam show stirs desires Shawn’s always denied…

Shawn is adrift. Recently graduated, he’s stuck in a dead-end job that barely pays the bills. His girlfriend dumped him, his friends have moved on, and he’s still in Plymouth—going nowhere.

Jude is a student living in the same shared house. Out and proud, he’s everything Shawn’s been running from since he hit puberty. When Shawn discovers Jude works as a cam boy, he can’t resist the urge to watch one of his shows. It makes Shawn want things that scare him, yet his fascination forces him to confront his attraction.

Keen to explore his bicurious side, Shawn suggests they do a show together. Jude agrees, and things get complicated—and kinky—fast. But Jude isn’t looking to get involved with someone so deep in the closet. If Shawn’s going to get what he wants, he needs to find the courage to stop hiding from himself and be honest about who he is.

Back in the living room, he threw himself into his armchair again. The TV was on, showing an old episode of Prison Break, but Shawn wasn’t paying attention to it. Sunk in a black hole of despondency, he gazed surreptitiously around the room at his housemates instead.

Jude, one of the new guys who’d moved in last month, sat in a corner of one of the sofas doing something on his phone, his dark curly head bending low and the glow of the screen lighting up his angular features. Shawn wondered what he was doing—probably hooking up on Grindr or something.

That twist of discomfort flared in his gut again. He knew he shouldn’t care. It was none of his business, but the idea that Jude might be planning some hook-up with some random guy lodged in his consciousness like a stone in a shoe. Maybe it was just because Shawn was single again and would have to get back to hooking up if he wanted any action. The idea of being back on Tinder wasn’t as appealing as it should be.

Shawn turned his attention to the other sickeningly happy couple in the room. Ewan wasn’t technically one of Shawn’s housemates. He lived next door, but he might as well have moved in for the amount of time he spent there with Dev. Ewan had his arm around Dev, and as Shawn watched, he turned his ginger head and murmured something in Dev’s ear. Dev turned to look at him and they exchanged a soft smile. Then Dev pressed a kiss to Ewan’s lips, which lingered long enough to make Shawn uncomfortable.

Irrational anger bubbled up, spilling out of his mouth before he could hold the words back. “For fuck’s sake. Can’t you save that for your room?”

Dev pulled away quickly, his cheeks flaming. “Sorry,” he muttered.

Ewan glared at Shawn. “What’s your problem?”

Shawn shrugged and glared back. “I just don’t need to see it, that’s all.”

“Well, the television’s over there, so stop fucking looking at us if you don’t like it. It was just a kiss. It’s not like we’re blowing each other on the sofa or anything. Jesus.”

“Ugh. And thank you for that mental image.” Shawn did a mock shudder.

“Whoa, Shawn. What the hell’s wrong with you tonight?”

Jez’s voice cut through Shawn’s drunken, angry haze, and he realised that all eyes in the room were on him. He caught Jude’s gaze, curious and assessing, and flushed at the unwanted attention.

“You should be used to it by now,” Jez continued. “You’ve lived with me and Mac long enough. And I’ve totally caught you groping Beth on the sofa before. You don’t get a free pass for living room shenanigans just because you’re the only straight couple in the house since Dani moved out.”

That was the spark that ignited Shawn’s anger past the point of no return. “Yeah? Well, maybe I’m just tired of being surrounded by all the gay in here. I never signed up for this when we moved in together.” He stood, sloshing beer out of his nearly full bottle and onto the carpet. “I don’t have to like it.”

“Feel free to find somewhere else to live, then.”

Even Jez, who was rarely moved to anger, sounded pissed now.

“Yeah. Maybe I will.” Shawn stormed to the door, careful not to ruin his exit by walking into the coffee table again. “Oh, and for your information? Me and Beth split up today, so we won’t be the token straight couple any more.”

He slammed the door behind him and stomped up the stairs to his room on the first floor. He slammed that door too, but it didn’t make him feel any better. After throwing himself down on the bed, he clutched his pillow and let harsh sobs of fury burst out of him until the red mist receded and shame and guilt crept in to fill the place where his anger had been.

Thanos AMAZON.jpg

Series: Masters Among Monsters #3
Publication Date: January 26th, 2017
Genre: Paranormal Romance

Thanos Agapiou has always been a charmer. For over two millennia, the vampire had no problem acquiring whom and what he wanted with a flash of his handsome smile. He took for granted the boyish good looks he presumed he’d possess for the rest of eternity.

How very wrong he was.

A nearly fatal attack distorted his entire existence. With his appearance now matching the title many have bestowed their kind—monster—he hides away from the world and all of those who know him, including his Ancient, Eton.

Until one night when a stranger draws him out from the shadows.

Ever since Paris Antoniou was thrust into a world of vampires, his reality has become stranger than the history and the myths he’s studied for the past decade.

When he learns the truth about his origins and the power he wields, his confusion and fear have him running for his life. What he doesn’t expect is to run into the arms of Thanos—a vampire who doesn’t intimidate him as much as he intrigues him.

As their worlds collide under extraordinary circumstances, an attraction neither can deny takes hold. But will that be enough to save Thanos from his demons, or will he condemn Paris to his fate?

Destinies have been changed. Lines have been crossed. And, with tales of the vampire race coming to an end, who will make the ultimate sacrifice?

After all, in a world run by vampires and gods, only one can be the true Master among the Monsters.

And The Blood Shall Run…

LONG AGO, THE Ancients of the vampire race searched for, and created, the one they wished to walk alongside for all eternity—their first-sired. They shared with them their blood, knowledge, and power. Thus creating a complex relationship where the first-sired’s existence integrated and tangled with the very being who made them, solidifying them as one.

Only three such connections exist within the vampiric hierarchy.

One born out of lust.

One born out of loneliness.

And the final born out of need.

As Eton, Ancient of Thanos Agapiou, walked away from where his progeny had sequestered himself with another, the steel-like binding of calm that his first-sired’s presence had once afforded unraveled and snapped like a chain severed. His permanent absence was now the only thing he had left to offer his Thanos to counter his ultimate betrayal. And he knew by giving it exactly what fate he had just sealed for himself.

After all this time, and Thanos’s strict control throughout the centuries, Eton had almost forgotten the allure of that which now stirred to life inside of him. But as the desperate, soul-searing need for destruction clawed for freedom, he recalled the reason for the desperate measures he’d taken the last time this transformation had occurred. Because without Thanos by his side, the infection that afflicted him threatened the very existence of his kind.

It was bound to happen. Just as it had once before. Tonight had been the final cut, but the distance, the separation, that had begun nights before when Thanos had demanded his absence…

“STAY WHERE YOU are. Do not come any closer.”

“I said do not come any closer.”

Eton stopped where he was, obeying Thanos’s words, as he always did. “Let me talk to you.”

“I do not want to talk,” Thanos spat. “Especially not with you.”

The venom in those words stung.

“I said no. You will at least grant me the simple courtesy of your absence, since I am already to endure an eternity of torment you have inflicted.”

Determined to get through to the angry male across from him, Eton pushed on. “It won’t ail you forever. You will soon heal—”

“Heal?” Thanos thundered as he rounded on Eton.

Eton schooled his earnest features, but he was a millisecond too late.

“You cannot even look at me without flinching. Do not talk to me of healing. This”—Thanos pointed to his scarred face—“this will never heal.”

He was right. Eton knew that, though his appearance didn’t matter to him. When he looked at Thanos, all he saw was his first-sired.

The private lives of the Ancients were rarely discussed. To Vasilios and Diomêdês, their first-sired represented the ones they’d chosen to take under their wing. Someone to share their eternal existence with and ones who would follow them, be loyal to them, and obey.

His and Thanos’s relationship was not that way at all. They kept their bond hidden, and for him, Thanos was the one who owned him—the one who calmed everything that ran riot inside him. O kýriós tou. His master.

“Get out.”

“You don’t mean—”

“I said. Get. Out.”

ETON STAGGERED TO a halt halfway down the hall, and raised a hand to steady himself against the wall. The memory of that night was as vivid now as it was back then, and it had brought with it something far more dangerous than a disconnect between an Ancient and his first-sired.

His teeth tingled, wanting to punch free, and the skin around his lips drew painfully taut. It had been so many centuries since he’d sensed the dark presence within that the force in which it begun to resurface was overwhelming. He needed to get back to the sanctuary of his bedchambers. Back to the one place where he could lock himself inside and use magic to ensure his captivity—if only he could focus long enough to get there. He was grateful that no one was there to witness his undoing.

Eton’s hand shook as he dug his fingertips into the stone until they bled. He needed that bite of pain, since Thanos wasn’t there to offer it, that sting to distract himself from the other, more pressing needs rising up inside of him. As it was, there was no way he’d be able to concentrate long enough to fade while this ugliness was fighting for dominance. His body trembled under his effort to control himself, and just when he thought he had a chance in hell of grasping its leash, Kronos, one of Alasdair’s newlings, came around the far end of the hall.

Eton’s nostrils flared as he scented the male who’d come to a standstill like a deer in the brightest of headlights. As if he sensed the immediate peril he’d unknowingly stumbled upon, Kronos looked around, trying to locate anyone else as he swallowed. Eton heard the reaction as if it were his own, and lowered his eyes to the ground before digging his fingers deeper into the shale under his palm.

“Eton, my Lord,” Kronos said. “I was just coming to—”

“Run,” Eton interrupted, and the low pitch of his voice was not only a warning to this young vampire, but a fucked-up request from the other side of him. The monstrous side.

“Run? But—”

Eton raised his head, and when his eyes, which he knew now would be blood red, met Kronos’s, the vampire took a step back, as if realizing just how much danger he was in.

“Run,” Eton said once again, and this time his voice sounded as though it had been grated over the sharpest, most jagged of edges. It was hoarse, torn, and so foreign that Eton was as stunned as Kronos that it had come from him.

“I…I was coming to check on Thanos,” Kronos said, and then stopped talking when he noted the change that had begun. Eton knew exactly what the young male was seeing. It was a sight only three others had ever borne witness to—and survived.

Kronos’s fangs dropped down in an automatic response to the threat metamorphosing before him. There was shock stamped over his pale features, his entire body trembled, and as he inched away, Eton caught the movement and flashed over in front of the male. His hand jerked out and his bloodied fingertips gripped Kronos’s throat in a punishing hold as he hauled him up and in line with what was a distorted version of the face he wore as Eton. “I told you to run.”

Kronos opened his mouth to respond, but his protestation was never heard. Eton’s fist slammed through the male’s breastbone, and a harsh wheeze expelled from between Kronos’s lips. The cracking and splintering of his ribs only heightened the pleasure Eton’s monster thrived on as he took a hold of the heart within the vampire’s chest cavity and squeezed. As Eton’s fingers sank into the cold organ, Kronos’s eyes widened.

“Yes,” Eton hissed. “You are finally seeing why… Why I told you to flee. Aren’t you, neare?”

“But…” Kronos gasped. “But…why? What are you?”

Eton’s nails extended from each finger with painful precision. But where vampire’s nails were known to extend to pointed tips, his curled into sharp, talon-like claws that scraped the delicate membrane surrounding Kronos’s heart.

“I am daimon, Kronos. A hellish monster that should have been eliminated many years ago. I am a reminder of what dwells within us all.”

Kronos shook his head, and Eton could hear his frenzied thoughts. What’s wrong with him? This isn’t Eton. He’s the calm one. He won’t kill me…

He was right in one sense—Eton wouldn’t kill him. He had made it his mission to be as genteel and accommodating as could be over the years between the last time this happened and now. But…he was no longer thinking as Eton.

As the turmoil inside Eton swirled to a frenzied height of consciousness, he twisted his gnarled hand and then tore it from Kronos’s chest, ripping the vampire’s heart from his body. When the male went limp in his grasp, Eton dropped him to the floor and brought the heart to his nose, where he took a deep inhale.

The demon reveled in its victory as it slowly slithered back to the cracks within his soul, and then he let the organ roll from his palm and land by its lifeless owner at his feet.

His claws retracted and his body twitched as he came back to himself, and as he stood in the silent catacomb of the hall, the realization of what he’d just done slammed into him. Eton turned his hands over to see the scarlet liquid staining his pale skin, and reveled in the thrill it gave him.

Ever so slowly, he raised his hand to his mouth and licked a path along his bloodied fingers, and the red haze of the creature roared to life, threatening to take full control once more.

The metallic thunk of a lock sounded, catching his attention, and when his name was called, Eton realized he must’ve let that roar free. He pivoted on the balls of his feet and was stunned to see that Thanos had come out into the hall.

Ever since his disfigurement, Thanos had refused to leave his chambers. But even with the dark hood on and the half-face skull mask he’d asked for, Eton would know the set of those broad shoulders anywhere. Not to mention the sheer height of him.

Thanos’s blue eyes shifted to the lifeless body by Eton’s feet, and when he raised them once again, Eton knew the vampire understood what had just happened out there.

Before Thanos could say anything more, though, Eton snarled and took delight in the way Thanos backed up. Oh yes, as one of the few who remotely understood the hideous thing inside of him, Thanos knew exactly the kind of danger he was in, and the flare of his irises was a dead giveaway that he knew he was the cause of it.

That’s right, kyrie mou, Eton shoved into Thanos’s mind. You wanted your freedom. You wanted Eton to leave. And we both know that is the only way this can now end.

And with that, the Ancient who was once Eton faded from the hall.
