Zac never had a family of his own, but Rudy has enough to share.

Shy, inexperienced Rudy has a crush on Zac from the moment his new colleague walks through the door. On an office night out before Christmas, Rudy finds the courage to make a move, and they form a tentative bond. When he discovers Zac will be alone at Christmas, he invites Zac to come home with him.

Zac prefers to keep people at arm’s length. Yet when Rudy offers him a family Christmas it’s impossible to resist. With no parents of his own, Zac is pleasantly surprised to be welcomed by Rudy’s. The only drawback is that everyone assumes they’re a couple. Unwilling to disappoint Rudy’s mum and make Christmas awkward, they decide not to deny it.

It’s not a chore for Zac to pose as Rudy’s boyfriend, but the pretence makes him want things that scare him—things like a real relationship with Rudy. Zac’s suffered enough rejection in his life already and is afraid to risk his heart. If he can get over his past rejection and let Rudy inside his armour, he might get more for Christmas than he ever imagined.

4 stars

This wonderful, heartwarming story will surely get you into the Christmas spirit. Friendship, longing and loneliness are just a few things that we are witnesses to. What came through the most within this story was the strong sense of love, family and acceptance. Not just within the main characters but amongst all the secondary ones as well.  A definite feel good story with some tantalizing moments. Hot, sweet, humorous and next to no angst. Just a perfect winter story to curl up on a cold day with.

We follow Rudy and Zac’s journey as strangers working in the same office to having a budding relationship. Rudy is shy, awkward at times and definitely swooning over one very sexy broody, quite co -worker.  Zac’s been hurt, has had a rough life, doesn’t get close to people and very anti-social. It’s better that way at least in his mind until one drunken night and an offer he can’t refuse changes everything.

He didn’t want to feel like this. Wanting things only led to disappointment because people always let you down.

I absolutely loved getting to know Zack and Rudy. Once they get together the pages heat up. Their connection and desire for one another is intense. I loved how inexperienced Rudy was and how unsure Zac was. It just made some of the tender moments shared between them that much hotter and meaningful.

Being that this is a holiday story, there is no question that Jay Northecote won’t leave you feeling anything but good. A definite must read for anyone looking for something to get them into holiday spirit.
