Description

Zane Larson has done everything he set out to do: conquered past demons, saved lives through his music, and toured the world as the frontman for one of the most popular rock bands in the world. This life—and an escape through music—was supposed to be everything he’s ever wanted, but after meeting Rowan, Zane’s no longer sure…

Soon after her husband’s death, Rowan Dugas learned she was pregnant. With grief and uncertainty her only companions, Rowan was only able to find an escape through music; specifically Zane Larson’s hypnotic voice. But after meeting the sexy lead singer of her favorite band, Rowan can hardly believe he’s interested in her. But Zane also has a painful connection to her unborn child – Zane’s brother is responsible for her husband’s death.

Torn between the only family she has left, and a life with Zane unlike anything she’s dared to dream about, Rowan’s decision will change her fate forever. Raw Need from New York Times bestselling author Cherrie Lynn is a heart wrenching, emotionally intense story that will leave readers breathless.

Excerpt: Raw Need by Cherrie Lynn

Zane took her hand and helped her from the car after opening her door. He’d done that all night, and while she hadn’t needed it, she found she loved it. He didn’t let her go even as they strolled up the walkway to her front door, pausing on her front porch. She missed the warmth of his hand immediately when she had to dig her keys from her purse.

Except for hugs from family and friends, it had been a while since anyone touched her. Until tonight.

It had been much longer since anyone had awoken the kind of feelings she was experiencing right now, the zinging along her nerve endings, the weakness in the fronts of her thighs that she suspected had nothing to do with emotion and everything to do with him.

It’s okay, she thought, desperate to keep her eyes down on her task of digging in her purse though her keys were right there in sight, glinting under her porch light. He’s my fucking celebrity crush, of course I’m going to respond. It doesn’t mean anything.

“I want to kiss you,” he said, and she sucked in a breath and looked up at him in astonishment, keys forgotten. He was so close, so beautiful, something that could have formed from the surrounding shadows to steal her heart away. “But I won’t.” Even as reason coupled with disappointment flooded her, her involuntary reaction was to wet her lips. She could swear he noticed the response; his eyes darkened. “Unless you want me to.”

She did. God help her, she did. But . . . “It can’t mean anything,” she whispered.

“It doesn’t have to.”

She could do that, right? Just a kiss. A onetime, once-in-a-lifetime kiss. Maybe she was wrong and the chemistry wouldn’t be there. She would know it once and for all, no wondering “what if” after he went back home, no staying up nights imagining what he tasted like, knowing she’d had her chance to find out and refused it. “Okay,” she said, but since she figured he could barely hear her trembling voice, she nodded as well.

He stepped in. Rowan nearly jumped when the tips of his fingers tilted her chin up to receive him; he touched her nowhere else. At least not until he leaned forward, nestling his nose next to hers as his lips caught hers gently, sweetly. A shiver worked along her spine, raising the hair at her nape.

So much for no chemistry.

She wanted to open, to invite him deeper, but even as his fingertips slid toward her ear until he cupped her jaw in his palm, he only teased at her lips with his own. A touch, a brush. The sweetness of their shared dessert a ghost on his breath, he didn’t quest for any sort of entry, so careful not to do so that something broke in her weakly thudding heart, flooding her with heat.

Oh, fuck.

“His other hand grasped the doorframe beside her head; his beard tickled her delicate skin. Rowan’s hands ached to crawl up his body, but she clenched them tightly at her sides against the need, her nails biting crescent moons into her palms. This, just this. It was all she had to give right now.

Zane pulled away only slightly, his warm breath soft against her tingling lips. He’d barely touched her, barely even given her that taste of him. She wanted more, longed to drag him to her and take it, but when he stepped back, she had to let him. The tip of his thumb traced the line of her jaw all the way to her chin as he drew his hand away.

Even though Raw Need is the 2nd book in this series it can be read as a standalone. I thought I couldn’t love a Larson brother more than I did Mike, but l I was wrong.  Raw Need was a truly emotional roller-coaster ride of emotions that left me wanting more of Zane Larson and Rowan.  I felt like this book had more depth and turmoil than the first book but it was still a fairly light read.

This author has a unique writing talent where she tends not to go over board with the drama and angst which I love.  This book has to do with second chances, moving forward and finding happiness.  Rowan is a recent widow, pregnant with her first child and struggling to find herself again.  Zane is a rock star and thought he had it all until he meets Rowan.

Zane and Rowan have a connection that can be felt throughout the pages through the beautiful writing.  The way this author details their communication via texts, music and phone calls enabled me to connect with them both.  Zane is everything a book boyfriend should be. He doesn’t want to push Rowan but he knows that she was meant for him.  Rowan is in a constant struggle between the only family she has known and the man that showed her happiness again.

This book was awesome, there was so many times that I wanted to reach out to both Zane and Rowan and hug them.  I loved how they both understood the others role in life and weren’t afraid to step aside.  The story is easy to follow and was worth the tears and smiles I experienced.  We get the conflict from Romans decreased husbands family, Zanes rock star persona and a little lady who doesn’t know her place.  This series just gets better and better and I can’t wait to see what’s in store next.

Good Kinda Crazy by Jettie Woodruff Blog Tour & Review

I would like to tell you a story about true friends, change, and real love. This is deeper than a love story, this is a connection you can’t possibly explain without first experiencing it, a love rarely found. When all I wanted to do was go home and put it all behind me, one chance meeting sent me in another direction. I traveled a road I could have never imagined.
Before you invest your time in our story, I should warn you, these people aren’t like your typical friends. These kinds of friends are few and far between. If you don’t believe in love at first sight, or second chance love, then you should probably skip our story.
I was written in him, he was written in me, we were written in the stars.
My hope is that you go into our story with an open mind and like me, find something life-changing you can take with you. Because one person believed in me, I didn’t give up. I became someone I didn’t even know I wanted to be.
For her. For him. For me. For us. For humanity.

“We can complain because rose bushes have thorns, or rejoice because thorn bushes have roses.”

I am in book love, completely, blinded let me absorb all the words at once, love.  This is one of those books that surprise you with its story because it’s so much more than just a simple love story. It’s about discovering a deeper you and accepting everything around you with positivity.

This is Atlantis story and her finding herself after being on a “Destination Lesson”.   It is during that destination lesson that she meets Tristan, whom we have met before in book 1 of this is series.  Tristan pushes Atlantis to find herself and absolutely becomes the friend she needs.  Atlantis can be a character you want to smack but in the same sense I seen myself in her flaws and her hang ups.  I knew what Tristan was doing, I seen what she wanted Atlantis to see and I wanted her to see it too but I also found myself understanding the struggle.  Then there is Ryle, OMG INSTANT HIPPIE LOVE FROM ME!!  I could picture him so clearly in my mind that my body swore I knew him.  As I write this I can still see him in my mind.  He is all about fate, destiny and twin flames.  He made me want to be like him.  He was so forgiving and so… He is a male Tristan and I loved him more!

Ryle,  also let me experience Tantra!! I called my husband and asked him to book a therapist that does it. Might have bought a book.  Might be obsessed with that currently.  Quit judging me and just go learn about it!    MIND, BODY AND SOUL.  Yeah all of it, you need it yesterday!!   Tantra isn’t the only thing I learned from this book, I actually closed this book and started quoting things and wanting to be more open minded. I have decided to spend an hour a day meditating and trying to tell my ego to take the day off.  Jettie really made me believe in things in this book and for that I give her so much more credit.  She made me want to be better for myself.  LOVE MYSELF DAILY!    It’s a book that made me want to say thank you and it has me so excited for book number 3!!

My Life as a Country Album by LJ Evans Blog Tour, Review & Giveaway

Title: My Life as a Country Album
Author: LJ Evans
Genre: Coming of Age Romance
Published: April 17, 2017

Ever since she was four and fell from the treehouse into neighbor boy, Jake’s, arms, tomboy Cam Swayne has been determined that the football hero keep his eyes firmly attached on her. But the three years between them, Jake’s long line of gaggling geese, health issues, and even their own parents seem to tear at the fabric that is them. Will they ever get their happily ever after?

Cam feels as if there is only one person in her whole world. That is super hero football player and neighbor, Jake Phillips. Her entire life has revolved around him since the time she was born. And while Jake’s devotion seems strictly protective in her early years, she knows he isn’t himself with anyone but her. Cam will not be satisfied until he is completely hers and Lord help anyone who ever gets in Cam’s way. While life passes by, Jake and Cam are there for each other in both simple and miraculous ways that are hard to explain to any outsider and seem to be the essence that country songs are made of. Even her mama reluctantly admits that Cam has always been more his than hers as they grow up in the Tennessee sunshine racing at the lake, star gazing in the treehouse, and playing football on the street. But will the intensity that is them be enough to get them through life’s unexpected challenges? Or will it leave one of them trying to learn to swim again with only half a soul?
Inspired by Taylor Swift country songs, this is a story of aching love and loss and learning to live through life in all its pain and glory.

“Heartwrenching and beautiful storytelling!”

“An amazing story of friendship and true love.”

“Descriptive, colorful, entertaining and a MUST read for all ages.”

That warm Saturday morning, we were pretty wiped out, the muggy day tugging at us like a current in water. You and I collapsed on your bed with one of our favorite playlists running. One minute we were debating the guitar skills of Keith Urban and the next, I’m not sure what happened, but we had both fallen asleep. Knocked out asleep. Deep. We only woke up to Mia pounding on your door saying we had thirty minutes to get ready.

We both looked at each other startled. You had an arm flung over me. We both had hazy, sleep filled eyes. You pulled your arm back and jumped up like you’d been bit by a brown bug. I rolled off the bed, grabbed my bag, and turned towards the door at the same time as you pulled off your pants. You were standing there in your boxers. They were really cute boxers with footballs on them. You didn’t even seem to think about having done it because you were pulling a pair of slacks off a hanger trying to hurry.

But, I froze staring at you. You didn’t see me still as a statue until I’d somehow breathed out, “Geez, Jake.”

You barely glanced my way. “It’s not like you haven’t seen me in my swim trunks, Cam.”

But God did you look incredible. Way different in your underwear than in your swim shorts. I don’t know why. I had seen you in your swim trunks a million times. But. These were thinner. Clinging to parts of you that made my heart spin like a top and other parts of me jump to attention. Maybe it was because we’d just woken up from a heady midday sleep. Maybe it was because I knew you were leaving me. All I knew was that, that very moment, right then, was a life changing moment. I could feel it right down to my toes.

What did I do? Would I ever back down from that kind of a challenge? I shrugged ever so nonchalantly and said breathily, “Fine, I’ll change too,” and I stripped down to my bra and panties before bending to pull out my little black dress from my bag.

You stopped dead still at the sight of me in my lingerie. You had one foot in your slacks and nearly fell over. My heart flipped again. And I was happy as hell that I’d put on the “I’m wishing for something more” undies that morning.

I swear your expression was worth way more than the eighty dollars I’d forked out of my own money to buy them so that my mama wouldn’t know that I had this set that all but screamed sex.

I pretended to fuss with the zipper on the dress while you stared. I was still trying hard to act like I didn’t care, but every single nerve in my body was standing at attention. Definitely not asleep anymore. Finally, you dropped your pants and said, “Shit, Cami, you’re beautiful.”

And you’d called me Cami so I knew you wanted my attention. I looked up into your mosaic eyes, and it was like a million stars bursting into existence. I’m not sure which of us moved, but I was in your arms, and you were smothering me with kisses. Good kisses. Kisses that moved my heart right up into my throat, and made every part of me turn to little fireflies of light. They weren’t like Matt’s kisses which had been gentle and soft. These kisses were intense, like your eyes, and demanding, like you needed to get every little breath that you could out of my body.

You had one hand on the back of my neck and the other was on my bare back near the top of my panties, and when you moved that hand to caress the top of the silk, I felt every breath inside me evaporate.

I felt like I had come home. Like this was the only place I was ever supposed to be. I don’t know how long we stood that way, locked in a kiss so powerful that I didn’t know what was going to be left of me when it was done, but somehow you came to your senses before I did. Maybe you’d had more experience stopping yourself. Lord knows, I wouldn’t have ever stopped.

“Sweet tea and stories both take time.”

This book got me in the feels thru music, the way the author connected a story thru song was something I wasn’t prepared for but it was pure perfection.  It made the characters emotions and feelings stronger and it made me sob like a baby even harder, I swear.   This is a heart wrenching love story that haunted me long after I stopped reading and is one of those books once you start you can’t just walk away from.  Cam and Jake were real to me and even when I wanted to sleep I needed to know their ending.  L J let us completely into their story and she let us experience the friendship, the innocent love and everything in between.  It was beautiful and I would recommend this to every romance reader.  It was refreshing to be able to just get lost in a story but I warn don’t start without tissue and wine, LOTS OF WINE!!!

This was such a “feel good” book.  It’s the kind of book you want to read when you want fun, laughter, smallest bit of angst, and want to walk away from the book feeling happy.

Nicole and Ryder are co-workers, and are both relationship coaches, yet they both have commitment issues. Nicole is an independent, sexy woman. Ryder is hot, alpha male, and knows how to make me swoon.

“He could read the phone book and make it sound like foreplay, which means everything he says makes you feel like a cat in mating season, even if he’s talking about changing the toner in the copy machine. I’d probably have a dirty dream about toner if he did.”

Nicole decides she wants a baby, and is done waiting for a relationship to get one. She wants to use a sperm donor.

Ryder had his heart broken, and will not put himself in that position again. He is single, and content, but when his ratings are plummeting and his boss wants a change, he is told he needs to start dating and romancing again.

“I need to polish my rough edges. That’s all this is. I’ll refocus my show, clean up my seminar act, and I’ll be good to go. No one needs to know I don’t believe the bullshit I’m selling anymore. All I need to do is sell it.”

So, when Nicole proposes that Ryder be her sperm donor, it sounds like a great plan. She can have his sperm, and he can take her on a few dates for his research.  But slowly, the chemistry starts to build.  I loved seeing their relationship build, the sweet side of Ryder, the strong side of Nicole.  They complimented each other well.  Of course, there are always issues that happen, when sex is involved.

“Happily ever after is a cycle of bullshit, love is a medley of lies, and marriage is a thing that can only go wrong.”

I would definitely recommend this book.  You’ll come away smiling!

“A refreshing take on the baby trope, The Knocked Up Plan is as sweet as it is naughty. Blakely not only balloons Nicole and Ryder’s incredibly powerful chemistry to new heights with their steamy love scenes, but she also infuses sweet emotion into every single one of their interactions.”

– USA Today

“Wildly romantic! Incredibly sexy! Hilarious and sweet! The Knocked Up Plan HAD IT ALL! The PERFECT romance to kick your Summer into HIGH GEAR! Ryder and Nicole are Lauren Blakely’s BEST CHARACTERS YET!”

– Shayna at Shayna Renee’s Spicy Reads

“How does it work?” I ask. “The whole donation process.”

She stabs a carrot slice, chews, and swallows. “Well, there’s this thing guys do when they’re horny. It’s called”—she glances furtively from side to side—“jacking off.”

“I’m well aware of how the protein shake is made. What I mean is, are we talking about one of those little rooms you go into?” I ask, since what man doesn’t have an image of a jerk-off chamber? “With magazines or porn or whatnot?”

“Yes, they schedule the donors for forty-minute sessions in them.”

“I’m more efficient than that, but that’s good to know.” I take another bite and chew. I set down the burger. “So, a nurse or orderly would escort me to a special room, and then I’d need to drop my
drawers and whack off. Into a cup, right?”

“A plastic sample cup. With a top,” she says, and I’m kind of amazed that she’s answering every question like a champ. No blushing, no stammering.

“What do they provide for entertainment? Laptops? Computers? Or is it old school with Playboy?”

“They provide pornographic material in printed form as well as video on a TV screen.”

“Awesome. So I just choke the chicken in a room with a ton of other dudes going at it in their own rooms, too. Hand a cup to the nurse. She seals up the goods. Then, what’s next?”

“They do tests on your swimmers.”

“They’ll pass. Then you come in, maybe the same day, maybe a few days later?”

“Same day. We’d have to time everything to my cycle and when I’m ovulating.”

“Fine, so they undress you, prop you up on an exam table, and stick a turkey baster into you?”

“You paint a lovely picture of the process.”

I hold up a hand, waving her off. “Wait. I’m not done. You’re in nothing but a hospital gown. The doc tells you to put your cute little feet in stirrups, and they stick that baster up inside what I am sure
is an absolutely gorgeous and heavenly home,” I say, because if she can complement my tadpoles, I can say something nice about the paradise between her legs. She mouths a thank you. “After the boys
make the upstream trip, they send you home.” I mime patting her on the rear and then sending her out the door.

“I think you’ve got the basic idea.”

“And after that?”

“That’s all,” she says. “That’s all I’d want you to do. I don’t expect or want any involvement. I’d have all the paperwork drawn up in advance saying there are no legal rights, responsibilities, or expectations of parenting, and no financial commitments required.”

I’m almost ashamed to admit it, but that’s the clincher for me—the lack of involvement. If I’m ever going to raise a child, I’m damn well going to do it right. The whole nine yards, two parents, just like my mom and dad raised my brother, my sister, and me.

Nicole isn’t asking me to sign up for daddy duty, though. She doesn’t want me to help with diaper detail or midnight feedings.

She’s a friend asking for the help she needs so she can then do those things on her own.

And helping a friend seems like something I should consider.

Fine, she’s asking for a hell of a lot more than a dude to put together an IKEA TV stand, and those things are beyond Da Vinci Code-level cryptic. I’d like to see Robert Langdon decipher some IKEA assembly instructions. Good luck with that, Harvard symbologist.

I like Nicole. I respect the dickens out of this woman. I want to take her request as seriously as she’s asking it. “Can I have a few days to think about it?”

“Of course. Take all the time you need,” she says, then glances at an imaginary watch on her wrist. “It’s only my biological clock ticking.”

I would highly recommend that you read the first book prior to starting this one as it is a series and you don’t want to miss a thing.  I loved and devoured book 1 and after that epic ending I was anxiously waiting for this next book to come out. I tore right into as soon as it landed on my Kindle.

We pick off at the same spot we left off where Rux and Sadie are missing, Ramsey is crazed  by their disappearance and the Steel Souls MC is in a state of disarray.  All the bad seems to point directly to their rival MC, the Wolves, or that other forces are at work.

This story was just as good as the first, it kept me on my toes.  Once the chaos and Sadie and Rux are found things seem to be going good, until it’s not.  Sadie and Ramsey are soul mates and I adored their connection.  Even under the stress, obstacles and secret revelations that are made, family, brotherhood and trust will be broken.

This author literally had me glued to my Kindle, I had to know more!  I knew there was something dark and sinister behind Vaughn and Nate but nothing prepared for the bomb Ms. Sparks dropped.  I really had to put my Kindle down and  because I needed to curse the Kindle gods (this author) for her twistedness.

We learn about Sadie’s past and what makes her tick. My heart broke for this strong and damaged character.  However with Ramsey by her side she stands tall.  I say this because Ramsey experiences his own personal tragedy in this book and never once was their love and loyalty tested.

You do not want to miss this exciting and addicting series, I hope the author has more for the other member in the Steel Souls MC. I just can’t get enough of it.

pouring liquid fire into the willing throats of patrons as they let loose at
the local bar?

That’s me.

I may be known as the town party girl, but in reality I’m this close to
my dream of opening my own bar – McConaugheys. Yes, it will be named after the
acclaimed actor. What can I say? I’m a sucker for that sexy Texan.

Everything was going as planned until the night I had a few drinks and accepted
a ride home from a friend. A misunderstanding leads to an arrest, and now I’m
at the mercy of the one man I can’t stand, and trust me, the feeling is
definitely mutual.

Adam Reingold is six-feet-tall and built like a stallion — the man is the
epitome of male. He also happens to be the town narc and hates my guts. There’s
a story to our past and it’s not a pretty one.

So, now, here I am, chained to him for the summer like a hardened criminal,
doing whatever he tells me to do. Problem is, I can’t help but look at him when
he’s not watching and wonder what our future could be like if things were
different.

There are so many reasons why he’s all wrong for me. Even more reasons why I
need to stay away from him.

It’s a cocktail of trouble. Best served
shaken, not stirred.

Although I have only read one other book by this author, I must say that I really love her writing style and love the characters she created and made me fall in love with.

Leah and Adam were once great friends back in high school but ever since the tragedy of Leah’s boyfriend and Adam’s best friend Brad dying due to drug overdose, things have never been the same with them. Now years later, these two barely even speak.  Leah runs the Bucking Broncho bar which will soon be hers and Adam is a local cop and due to Leah having a mishap, her path is now set directly in front of Adam and whether she likes it or not, he’s going to be in her path for quite some time now.  Adam and Leah never talked about Brad’s death and barely co-existed in the same small town but now that they are spending time together, feelings that once began between these two many years ago are starting to resurface.

Leah and Adam were both really good characters and I really enjoyed the dynamic the author built up between these characters.    I am usually not a lover of flashbacks in stories but I have to say the addition of them in this one really helped me better feel their connection and attraction the author had going on between them.

Wrecked, with the exception of the epilogue is completely told from Leah’s POV and although I don’t mind a single POV, I found myself at times really missing having the second POV not only wanting but needing  to get inside his head.  I really loved the premise of their story but it felt at times that the story was missing that extra something.   I was sucked in completely in the beginning and I love a good slow burn when it comes to a frienemies storyline but as the book progressed  found the pace of it at times tended to be a slow and the storyline fell bit flat for me.

I really love this author’s writing and although I didn’t love this one as much as I hoped I would, overall this one was still an enjoyable sweet read.    I know I am probably in the minority with my thoughts on this one, but there were just things in that didn’t work for me.

Stay (WAGs #2) by Sarina Bowen & Elle Kennedy ** Beth’s Review **

Synopsis

Can you fall in love with someone you’ve never even met?

Hailey Taylor Emery has a hunch that her favorite client at Fetch–an anonymous virtual assistant service–is actually hockey star Matt Eriksson.

Although it’s against the rules for her to check his file, she’s 95% sure she spends at least part of each day texting with her lifelong crush and catering to his every need. Still nursing a wounded heart thanks to her recent breakup, Hailey is perfectly content with some harmless online flirting…until she has to meet her client. Face to face. Cue: utter panic.

Matt Eriksson is no stranger to heartbreak. He’s still not over the destruction of his marriage, and it sucks to be the only guy on the team who knows the truth–that hockey and long-term relationships are a toxic mix. He barely sees his kids, and dealing with his ex makes him feel insane. The only person in his life who seems to understand is someone who won’t show her pretty face.

But it’s nothing that a pair of fourth row hockey seats can’t fix. Hailey can’t resist the offer. Matt can’t resist Hailey. Good thing he doesn’t have to. Fire up the kiss cam!

Warning: Contains rabid hockey fans, misunderstood dick pics, hockey players at the opera and exploding ovaries.

I am a huge lover of hockey and a huge lover of both Sarina Bowen and Elle Kennedy’s hockey romances so whenever these two ladies get together to write a new hockey romance,  you know I will be all over it.  When it comes to writing a hockey romance, these ladies truly know the sport and know how their hockey hunks!

Hailey alongside her ex-husband Jax run Fetch, their anonymous virtual assistance service they started together and have made a success of.  For the past while Hailey has been personally handling all the requests from one specific anonymous client, Sniper87, that she believes to be none other than her hockey hunk crush Matt Eriksson, star of the Toronto Maple Leafs.  After months of running errands and harmlessly flirting back and forth with her client, she finally comes face to face with Matt.  Matt, like Haley is recently divorced and is not great at relationships due to his very busy hockey schedule and doesn’t believe he can make a relationship work because of it.  But there is something about Hailey that wants to make him try.

I really loved the banter via text and in person between these two.  It was fun and flirty and really loved seeing the relationship evolve between these two as well as their conversations.  It went from flirty text to full out sexting and it was HOT.

I absolutely loved Matt. First because he is a super sexy hot hockey hunk, so of course I am going to love him.  Second because he’s sweet and funny and caring and I just want to curl up next to him and let him have his way with me, because he is SO VERY SEXY.  Last, on top of being the perfect mix, he’s a great dad and I just loved the scenes with his twin daughters, truly ovary exploding moments.  Both characters were really great and I loved that they were more mature and career focused.  So many times these types of reads the characters feel very high school’ish so this one was a nice change.

Overall this was a really great fun and flirty read.  I would have loved to see more hockey action in the storyline.  I love a good slow burn romance and for the most part this one loving the banter between the main characters but at times it fell a little flat for me

Vanishing Act by A.M. Madden ** Josie’s Review **

Synopsis

In this captivating standalone romance from the USA Today bestselling author of Stone Walls, Hollywood’s hottest actor meets his dream woman: a free spirit who has no idea who he is.

After personal heartbreak and professional setbacks, Landon Price is running on empty. If he doesn’t take a break from the public eye soon, he’ll risk becoming another cautionary tale in a town that’s full of them. So in between film projects, Landon asks his agent to clear his schedule and then he simply . . . vanishes. Renting a discreet home on a remote Hawaiian beach for the summer, Landon begins to recharge. And in the process of finding himself, he meets a beautiful, feisty local who challenges everything he thinks he knows.

Zara Jobert has no interest in being a conquest for a cocky playboy from the mainland—even one with undeniable charisma and movie-star good looks. So she’s pleasantly surprised when the handsome newcomer’s persistent advances mellow into cozy banter and a sneakily seductive intimacy. When Landon reveals his true identity, Zara’s hurt that he lied, but she doesn’t care that he’s famous. Unfortunately, not everyone feels the same way. And falling for Landon might come with a heartbreaking choice—between Zara’s old life, and a new love.

I though from the blurb Vanishing Act would be a angst filled read but it turned out to be a sweet and light romance.  The first start of the book was mostly told in Lances POV and it was a bit slow at first but after we get Zara’s POV the book picked up.

Landings character took me a while to warm up to. He seemed cocky and arrogant but later on I got to see the man behind the screen.  Landon needs to escape the pressure of life from Hollywood’s prying eyes and gossip. He decides to take a long and much needed vacation to a small Hawaiian Islands island.  We see him unwind when he doesn’t have the constant lies of the media and paparazzi following him.  His solo vacation instantly changes when he meets the owner of a small dog he finds on his vacation home.

Zara is a very sheltered, naive and innocent character for a woman of her age.  She doesn’t know much of the outside world as her father keeps her sheltered and controlled.  I loved seeing the beauty and innocence in this young woman’s eyes.  How she describes the simply things that brings her happiness and yet the longing to want to learn more outside their small island.  She’s immediately taken with Lances maturity and worldliness.

The relationship between Landon and Zara is a long one. It wasn’t an instant love story.  The island is small so the characters go on a lot of dates, talk a lot and really get to know one another.   Landon likes that Zara doesn’t know who he is and he doesn’t have to hide who he really is around her.   There is very little drama and angst in this story.  Zara and Lance have to learn to deal with his celebrity status and Zara’s strong family ties.  If you like reads with no angst and drama than this is your kind of book.

Blurb

A summer fling is an ideal cure for a broken heart. But when it’s with your best friend, things get complicated.

When Adam is dumped by his boyfriend, a week away at a beach resort seems like a great opportunity to get over his ex. Sun, sea, and no-strings sex will be just the boost he needs to move on with his life.

Adam’s best friend, Finn, agrees to accompany him at short notice. Finn’s had a crush on Adam for years, but is determined to put his feelings aside and be the perfect wingman in Adam’s time of crisis.

A spontaneous threesome with another guy forces Adam and Finn to confront their attraction to each other. Having a holiday fling together wasn’t part of the plan, and as their trip heats up, they soon realise that one night of fun won’t be enough for either of them.

The passion might be scorching, but their hearts and friendship are on the line. If their romance is going to survive the flight home, they have to be honest about what they want.

Summer Heat was a light and fairly easy read.  I thought we get some drama after I read the blurb but there was no angst and very little drama. The 2 main characters, Finn and Adam are sexy, caring, sweet and full of life.

Adam and Finn have been good friends for a couple of years and their friendship has remained in that zone until Adam breaks with the douche canoe.  You get the feeling that Finn has never taking things further because Adam was in a very committed long term relationship.  I really enjoyed Adam’s fun loving nature.  Despite getting his heart broken he handled things with dignity and went on a gay retreat with Finn.

Adam and Finn are great friends, they support each other but on this getaway they both experience feelings they’ve never acted on.  I loved Finn’s  feelings of jealousy as well as Adams bluntness.  One  extremely hot and steamy threesome turns Adam and Finns friendship into more.

Omg, the sex scenes in this book was off the chart but I really enjoyed the stolen moments between Adam and Finn.  Their walks on the beach, their boat rides and their new found relationship.  We see why their friendship turned into much more.   This wasn’t a live in the moment fling, their loyalty and love for each other blossoms.  I got to know Adam and Finns characters and I really connected with them.  If you love a friends to lovers romance that’s light on the angst than this is the book for you.
