Title: Getting Lucky Number Seven

Author: Cindi Madsen

Genre: New Adult, Contemporary Romance

What’s your lucky number?

Lyla Wilder is done being the shy, chemistry nerd extraordinaire. While every other college student is out having fun, Lyla is studying. With her cat. Well, she’s played it “safe” quite enough, thank you. So she creates a “College Bucket List”―with item #7 being a night of uninhibited, mind-blowing sex…

But she needs some help from her man-whore best friend.

>Hockey player Beck Davenport thought Lyla’s transformation would be subtle. Man, was he wrong. With every item she ticks off, Beck finds himself growing seriously hot for his sweet, brainiac best friend. And if he’s not careful, he’ll end up risking their friendship in order to convince Lyla that he might just be her lucky #7….

No question here, this is not some new plot we’ve never read before. Nope, but, what we do have is a tried and true plot with the right type of characters. The right kind of wit & humor. The right kind of nerdy….something I am really enjoying reading at the moment 🙂

That’s what college is for, right?

Drinking, dancing like an idiot. Falling for your hot guy friend and then getting over it by hooking up with someone else.

I normally don’t like the ‘list’ type of books, but, I do like to read about the friends to more category. Beck and Lyla did it for me here. Her list of becoming a new ‘college’ person is a list that has all the normal college do’s. Her way of explaining them so they match her personality.

Do a keg stand—simple right? Nope, Lyla has given it another level Remember to not wear a skirt that night

Make out with a beautiful stranger— ah, rules…we need rules- Exact level of making out TBD as the kissing happens

This was cute, likable story. I didn’t end up falling as wished I would have.  I loved their internal thinking about each other but kept wanting them to vocalize it in someway.  A little bit here and there.  I think for Lyla, her thoughts were all new for her but for Beck though, he’s been around girls before so I expected him to slowly show some interest- besides thinking!  When it was time to move along it was cute to see Lyla and Beck get to the next step.

Hope was so dangerous. It beckoned to me now, whispering to just let go with the guy whose breath was warming my neck. Be bold. Twist my face a couple inches so that our lips met. But if I jumped and discovered no safety net waited for me at the bottom, I wasn’t sure I’d ever be able to get back up.

That next step is when I started to loose focus. Not them, but the extra added storyline. The last 20% I skimmed and skipped a lot. I found I wasn’t interested in this part of the story.

About the Author

Cindi Madsen is a USA Today Bestselling author of contemporary romance and young adult novels. She sits at her computer every chance she gets, plotting revising, and falling in love with her characters. Sometimes it makes her a crazy person. Without it, she’d be even crazier. She has way too many shoes, but can always find a reason to buy a new pretty pair, especially if they’re sparkly, colorful, or super tall. She loves music, dancing, and wishes summer lasted all year long. She lives in Colorado (where summer is most definitely NOT all year long) with her husband and three children.
