Hosting her brother’s wedding for an MVP guest list is the challenge of Jess Canning’s life. Already the family screw-up, she can’t afford to fail. And nobody (nobody!) can learn of the colossal mistake she made with the best man during a weak moment last spring. It was wrong, and there will not be a repeat. Absolutely not. Even if he is the sexiest thing on two legs.
Blake Riley sees the wedding as fate’s gift to him. Jess is the maid of honor and he’s the best man? Let the games begin. So what if he’s facing a little (fine, a lot) of resistance? He just needs to convince the stubborn blonde that he’s really a good boy with a bad rap. Luckily, every professional hockey player knows that you’ve got to make an effort if you want to score.
But Jess has more pressing issues to deal with than sexy-times with a giant man-child. Such as: Will the ceremony start on time, even though someone got grandma drunk? Does glitter ever belong at a wedding? And is it wrong to murder the best man?
Caution: May cause accidental aspiration of tea or coffee. Do not read in a public place where loud laughter is inappropriate. Contains hot but hilarious hockey players, puppy cuddling and a snarky pair of underwear.
Release date: mid-June!
I am a lover of both Sarina Bowen and Elle Kennedy’s hockey hunks so I am always up for checking out hockey hunks that are a collaboration of these two amazing authors. I read and thoroughly enjoyed Wes and Jamie’s story in “Him” and must say I am wishing I had followed it up with the conclusion, Us as I loved getting to see more of them in this one. Good Boy can definitely be read as a stand-alone but I must admit, I enjoyed this one more having read Him but I think I would have loved this one even more had I read Us, and I will definitely be going back to check that one out.
Jess, Jamie’s sister is the planner of Wes and Jamie’s wedding with her new Party planning business but one thing planning this wedding has taught her is this is something she doesn’t want to continue to do ever again. Jess has always been the Canning sibling that never seem to have her stuff figured out and now being in her middle 20’s she is once again changing her career again and heading back to school to accomplish it. Through her brother’s partner Wes, Jess has met Blake Riley, a teammate of Wes. Blake is a big hot and sexy hockey player but along with his larger than life size, he has the same type of personality. Jess has already fallen to his charms and now that he will be around her life more she is determined to not fall under his spell again.
This was a fabulous read that was fun and flirty along with also being very hot and sexy at times. But I loved that this was also very sweet and romantic with filled with a ton of angst. I really loved the build-up and banter between Jess and Blake and loved how their storyline played out. I must add that there were so many times in this story I was almost sure the story would go a certain direction adding that predictable drama and angst but even though the story kind of hinted it could go that way, it never did. I loved that the authors didn’t add unnecessary drama to their storyline when they so could have easily done so. But at the same time they still kept this story engaging and moving at a great pace. I was actually shocked to find myself pleasantly surprised at almost 90% with no major drama yet a very interesting engaging and enjoyable story.
Blake I must say in the beginning really got on my nerves with his very large personality and his strange “Blake original” vocabulary. But I must say he started to grow on me the more we got to really see the real Blake by getting to know more of the story from his POV, and the more I fell in love with this big goofball. I really enjoyed Jess’ character, she was a girl just trying to find her way and live the dream and struggling to do so and lacked confidence but I really enjoyed her character. She wasn’t ditzy or whining which tends to happen a lot, she was real and down to earth and I find myself really connecting to her. And I must say I really loved these two together, they were a great mix. I loved when were at odds, him trying to convince her to hook up again and she wanting no part, Kind of. But I also loved when these two finally came together and realized their feelings for each other. And when things heated up between these two it was hot and sexy and never overdone.
Overall this was a fabulous read I absolutely loved. Was a great sports romance with some great sports action and a story filled with lots of sweet and romantic, fun and flirty and off the chart hot moments. I loved that we got more of Jamie and Wes but really love the new cast of characters we got to get to know . I am so excited about this this spinoff series and very excited to know Erikson’s books is up next!
