Grim finally got a story of his own! He was actually the first character created for the Sex & Mayhem series but was far kept in the background, occasionally appearing as a side character. But whenever Grim appeared on the pages, he meant business. We first introduced him as a person mentioned by Tooth in The Devil’s Ride, but the character soon started living a life of his own in our heads. While his “screen time” has been scarce so far, we created a whole backstory for him and with time, we knew we needed to dedicate a full-length novel to this badass assassin.
Those who read the previous Sex& Mayhem books know him as the man the Coffin Nails MC calls when things start getting out of hand. Ruthless in battle and shameless about his sexuality, Grim is much more than his infamous… well, eggplant 😉

— When life gives you blood, make mayhem. —
Grim. Assassin. Leather-clad sex god. Has the most unusual taste in men.
Misha. Mutilated. Afraid. Will never trust again.
Grim is a bloodthirsty killer, and he owns it. Gay in a world of outlaw bikers, he firmly stands his ground if anyone dares to cross him. He takes pleasure in showing homophobes their place and fucking his way through a life of carnage.
But there is a part of him always aching for something he cannot get. When by chance he saves the most perfect guy he’s ever met, he is not about to let him go. Even if it means he needs to smother his broken bird.
When a masked, bloodstained man rescues Misha from captivity, he doesn’t know if he should thank the menacing stranger or stab him and run. Grim is not the kind of man who takes no for an answer, and Misha might now be in more danger than when he was trapped as a sex slave.
Misha cannot deny though that Grim is as alluring as he is frightening, and once Misha realizes what power his body holds over Grim, he understands that taming the beast of a man could be within his reach.
But any possibility of a future together is like a house of cards when Zero, the sadistic crime lord who destroyed Misha’s life, sets out to get him back.
Will the ruthless biker assassin at Misha’s side be enough to conquer the monsters from his past?

As always with any Merikan novel heed the warnings. These author do not spare anything when it comes the worlds they create and the characters that live in them. It’s cruel, dark, violent and very intense.
Grim was a very perplexing character. My feelings towards him at first were very unsettled. He is hands down one of the creepiest characters I’ve come across in a long time. And because of that I questioned myself on why I liked him. I really shouldn’t be surprised, after all this is a Merikan book and these ladies are not new to creating very unique characters that have me questioning their sanity and mine. Grim has a very unusual kink and because of his fetish and his mind set I honestly sat in a state of confusion on my feelings for him for a good chunk of the story. I have the whatever floats your boat kind of mentality, and I think it takes a lot to shock me, but, his obsession came off creepy, a little on the pervy side and he honestly crossed many lines that under a normal set of circumstances would have had me running in the opposite direction. He is very stinted when it comes to what I would consider appropriate in a relationship. I don’t think this man understood what personal space really meant. He never quite crossed over the line but his toes sure did touch it.
Grim is so attracted to a man he has been fantasizing over for years, and when he has Misha all to himself you really get a strong sense on how deep his obsession really goes. This man is so far gone on amputees that he’s literally salivating at the mouth for a touch. Like full on horn dog that he has to force himself to have any self-control. He won’t hurt Misha but he doesn’t understand why he can’t just indulge. Misha is everything he has ever wanted or could have hoped for. I honestly didn’t know how to take his advances at first. Looking past his particular tastes and advances he really was a man I wanted to know more about, and dare I say, I really started to feel for him. I never doubted that these authors would somehow clear up any murky feelings I had for him. He had this protective, nurturing side and a deep need to be needed. He was one of the most gentile, considerate lovers I’ve come across in a really long time. OMG, Those sex scenes, smoking HOT!! In those moments I could see he had a good heart and how vulnerable he really was. There was so much more to him then what you see at first glance.
Misha is a character that kept me twisted up. I felt so bad for him, for what had happened to him and what he was forced to endure. The trauma and the degradation he lived through was so hard to swallow. There is no way that you can’t empathize with Misha. I was devastated for him. I understood why this poor soul who was absolutely broken and damaged would automatically be drawn to someone who could and would fiercely protect him against everything by any means necessary. I didn’t question his needs or why he allowed Grim to be so invasive even when Grim was coming on so strongly.
Watching these two lonely broken souls come together and slowly become whole was really beautiful. I really love how much these two guys really loved each other. It certainly wasn’t pretty, it was gritty, violent and crude, but they worked. I loved seeing Misha come out of shell and be the man he was destined to be. I loved that he wasn’t afraid to put Grim in his place when it was needed. These men really brought out the best in one another and completed each other.
This latest installment is a perfect addition to this series. This book is a must read for all Merikan fans. I’ll say this again heed the warnings. Like all of their stories this is not for the faint at heart, but the journey is so worth it. I can’t wait to see what these authors bring us next.
About the author
- A. Merikan is the pen name for Kat and Agnes Merikan, a team of writers, who are mistaken for sisters with surprising regularity. Kat’s the mean sergeant and survival specialist of the duo, never hesitating to kick Agnes’s ass when she’s slacking off. Her memory works like an easy-access catalogue, which allows her to keep up with both book details and social media. Also works as the emergency GPS. Agnes is the Merikan nitpicker, usually found busy with formatting and research. Her attention tends to be scattered, and despite pushing thirty, she needs to apply makeup to buy alcohol. Self-proclaimed queen of the roads.
They love the weird and wonderful, stepping out of the box, and bending stereotypes both in life and books. When you pick up a Merikan book, there’s one thing you can be sure of – it will be full of surprises.
