pivoted on her toe in the direction of the open door. “Then it looks like we have nothing further to discuss, Lucas.”
I am a huge lover of sports romances and have wanted for some time now to pick up a book written by this author so decided to check this one out. And I must say the blurb really grabbed me, I love these types of stories with that bit of forbiddance to it.
Gillian Whitney works for the NFL football team her father coaches, the Chicago Bears. But everything changes for her the moment she nearly badly injures his star quarterback, Lucas Carrington. Since she is the one responsible for Lucas being hurt, she decides she will be the one to help him get back to where he needs to be and take his place as their star quarterback. But right from the start there is a spark between these two but anything happening between them is completely taboo.
For me the story started out slow and it really took me till almost 50% to really be engaged in the story. I liked the characters but just didn’t love them or feel the connection between them. There was an attraction happening between them but I didn’t really feel like there was more than that. For most of majority of this book I needed more from them and their story to keep me fully engaged in it.
I did enjoy both Gillian and Lucas’ characters but felt that lacked depth. I also found there wasn’t a lot to the secondary supporting characters so I think due to that, the main characters needed more to them to keep me to wanting to turn the page.
Overall this one was an enjoyable fun sports romance with some really great hot and sexy parts. I know I will be in the minority here, as most I am sure will love this one but for me it just didn’t grab my attention nor keep me engage. I am a huge lover of sports romance and love the dynamic of these types of reads. The passion of the characters for a sport they love and the high energy of such a action packed sport like football but this one just didn’t give me those types of feels to it and for that, I just didn’t love it. This was my first book by this author and I did enjoy her writing style, the storyline just didn’t grab me so although I didn’t love this one, I will be definitely checking out more from her.
