1805. Laurent. Indentured servant. Desperate to escape a life that is falling apart. 2017. Beast. Kings of Hell Motorcycle Club vice president. His fists do the talking.
Beast has been disfigured in a fire, but he’s covered his skin with tattoos to make sure no one mistakes his scars for weakness. The accident not only hurt his body, but damaged his soul and self-esteem, so he’s wrapped himself in a tight cocoon of violence and mayhem where no one can reach him.
Until one night, when he finds a young man covered in blood in their clubhouse. Sweet, innocent, and as beautiful as an angel fallen from heaven, Laurent pulls on all of Beast’s heartstrings. Laurent is so lost in the world around him, and is such a tangled mystery, that Beast can’t help but let the man claw his way into the stone that is Beast’s heart.
In 1805, Laurent has no family, no means, and his eyesight is failing. To escape a life of poverty, he uses his beauty, but that only backfires and leads him to a catastrophe that changes his life forever. He takes one step into the abyss and is transported to the future, ready to fight for a life worth living.
What he doesn’t expect in his way is a brutal, gruff wall of tattooed muscle with a tender side that only Laurent is allowed to touch. And yet, if Laurent ever wants to earn his freedom, he might have to tear out the heart of the very man who took care of him when it mattered most.

I’m going to be completely honest here, I’ve never read a book about time travel so I had no idea what to expect. I’m not into paranormal but holy cow if this is what I’ve been missing, I’m not skipping this genre again. I just saw MC, and okay the cover but after I started I realized this book was oozing with the wow factors I long for in a 5 star read. Serial killers, suspense, innocence, really hot scenes and a MC club, sign me up! This book was long but the journey was worth it in spades. Not only was this story very well written but the character development was simply amazing.
Laurent comes from the 1800’s and his sexual preference would cost him his life. He was the picture of innocence, only wanted what many want in life, to be loved by a man and be treated as more than an object. I adored this character and admired his naivety. It is that very innocence that led him to trust a man that appeared to show interest in him. Laurent makes a decision and a deal that changes his life in ways he never expected.
Hold on to your panties people because Beast will set then on fire. He’s been through a lot in life, he’s disfigured after a tragic fire. In his eyes he is no longer handsome and content in living alone in life. You’d think this character would be bitter but he’s the opposite. He has a big heart, doesn’t shy away from doing what’s right and is such an amazing guy. He lives a hard and closed off life, his father doesn’t value the good in him and he doesn’t pay attention to the others that do see the good.
So this is where I lost myself in this book seeing the past collide with the modern world was simply amazing. Seeing how Laurent viewed everything in the modern world blew me away. We see everything and never once stop to take stock of all our fortunes in life but seeing how Laurent valued and treasured the littlest of things like plastic made me realize how lucky I am. When Laurent sees Beast he doesn’t see the Beast or the scars that have marred him, he’s sees the man who is underneath.
I loved Beast right away but seeing his relationship blossom with Laurent made me love him so much more. He was amazed by this man and was kind, loving and patient. Beast was not perfect, he had his own insecurities to deal with but when he stumbled he stood back up.
Once Beasts and Laurent found a balance there was nothing that could get in the way, and believe me there are greater forces that will threaten to take it all away. This is not your typical MC romance book but it does feel real. Their love story is one that will be put to the test but it also shows that true love does exists. Holy cow when it reaches that climactic moment, that WTF, OMG moment seriously my heart was going to come out of my chest. I’m talking Freddy Krueger type of moment, like cue the scary movie music please moment. I wasn’t sure how things would end but considering what the book was about it was a fitting ending. Well played! It’s clear there is more to come in this series, so bring it I’m ready!
About The Authors
K.A. Merikan is the pen name for Kat and Agnes Merikan, a team of writers, who are mistaken for sisters with surprising regularity. Kat’s the mean sergeant and survival specialist of the duo, never hesitating to kick Agnes’s ass when she’s slacking off. Her memory works like an easy-access catalogue, which allows her to keep up with both book details and social media. Also works as the emergency GPS. Agnes is the Merikan nitpicker, usually found busy with formatting and research. Her attention tends to be scattered, and despite pushing thirty, she needs to apply makeup to buy alcohol. Self-proclaimed queen of the roads.
They love the weird and wonderful, stepping out of the box, and bending stereotypes both in life and books. When you pick up a Merikan book, there’s one thing you can be sure of – it will be full of surprises.
