Stay up all night with the sexy rockers in Stage Dive, the epic New Adult series from New York Times bestselling author Kylie Scott, author of Lick and Play.
About Lead (Stage Dive #3):
As the lead singer of Stage Dive, Jimmy is used to getting whatever he wants, whenever he wants it, whether it’s booze, drugs, or women. However, when a PR disaster serves as a wake-up call about his life and lands him in rehab, he finds himself with Lena, a new assistant to keep him out of trouble.
Lena’s not willing to take any crap from the sexy rocker and is determined to keep their relationship completely professional, despite their sizzling chemistry. But when Jimmy pushes her too far and Lena leaves, he realizes that he may just have lost the best thing that ever happened to him.
Wow, wow, wow, this book did not disappoint. I freaking loved this story. Jimmy and Lena’s story rocked my world in so many ways. Absolutely fantastic! Brooding, broken rock star who’s completely shut off meets feisty, sarcastic girl on a mission to get away from those who have hurt her. What we end up with is one of the funniest books I’ve read in a very long time. I mean it’s pretty bad when you go to bed only to be woken up because you are laughing in your sleep because the story is playing out in your dreams.
As much as I laughed there were many serious moments that tugged at my heart strings. OMG Jimmy! Can we all take a moment and just love on Jimmy. We all know from the previous books that Jimmy has had a substance abuse problem and we know that he was forced to take on an assistant to basically babysit him so he doesn’t have any relapses. Jimmy is so damaged from his past that he’s literally so broken he can’t see past all the bad in his life. He doesn’t think he deserves anything good. Well let’s just say when Lena comes into his life things for everyone involved get a whole lot more interesting.
The man could be more than an occasional arrogant dick, but Jimmy Ferris was strong and proud.
Whatever else he might be, Jimmy Ferris was special and complicated, beautiful and beastly, all rolled into one.
Verbally sparring with Jimmy was fast becoming more fun than I’d had with most other mean naked.
“I think the clashing pink and red Christmas tree make quite a statement. And the frolicking deer are kind of cool…”
“There’s even a threesome happening on the back.”
The look on Jimmy’s poor face was hilarious. And the way he handled the shirt like it was something similar to dog shit, his mouth drawn wide and distaste just made it all the better.
“How’s your face and what the fuck are you wearing?” “Ask Lena,” Jimmy bit out. “I can’t. Your shirts so ugly it made her cry.”
The banter, the sarcasm the back and forth between Lena and Jimmy will have you laughing out loud. I loved how easy it flowed out of their mouths. I mean as you read you can sense that the humor is mostly to disguise what they are truly feeling but my god it was funny. We get to learn about Jimmy’s demons, how and why Lena becomes Jimmy’s assistant, What has her avoiding her family and why Jimmy ended up on road to drug and alcohol addictions. Besides the humor we also get to witness all the pain, suffering and ultimately healing that Jimmy and Lena go through.
“it was like, he didn’t’ feel like he deserved success, so the more it came his way, the faster he ran.”
“Don’t break his heart, Lena. Fuck, he barely even knows he has one, but he does. And it’s actually a really good one. Just give him a chance to figure out what to do with it, please?”
As with the previous stories we get to see all other characters we fell in love with throughout this series. We get to see what’s been going on with all them since Play. They are all still as funny and crazy as ever. Kylie Scott has come out of the gates swinging with Jimmy and Lena’s story. From start to finish every single page was written with so much thought and integrity to all the characters both new and old. This story is without a doubt my favourite one in the series so far. I wouldn’t recommend you reading this as a standalone because honestly you’ll get spoilers of the other characters if you do. I can’t wait for the next book so I can see how everyone is doing. I can’t wait to see more of Jimmy because honest to god this boy truly stole my heart. This series is absolutely fantastic and you won’t be disappointed that you picked it up and experienced all the boys of Stage Dive.

“Lena, you seen my old black Led Zep shirt?”
“You sure?” His brows became one dark cranky line. The scratches on his face were healing well, thank goodness. Though it didn’t reduce my desire to throttle his mother on a daily basis.
“Yes. I haven’t seen it.”
Can’t find it anywhere…”
“And this is a surprise, how?” I slipped my hands into my back jean’s pockets. “Jimmy, you own more clothing than Cher, Brittney, and Elvis, put together. Things are bound to go missing.”
“Sure you haven’t seen it?”
“For goodness sake, what do you think, Jimmy? That I stole it to sleep in or something?” I laughed bitterly. Sure as hell, the truth deserved a good mocking. I’d sunk so despicably low.
I hadn’t even meant to steal the stupid thing, but the shirt had been mixed up with my laundry a few days ago. It’d been the first top I laid my hand on after stepping out of the shower, ready to go to bed. Without thought, I’d put it on and it’d been so soft, the scent of him lingering beneath the laundry detergent. Every night since, I’d found myself in it come bedtime. My shame knew no limits. And no, I still hadn’t quit. The words still hadn’t come even close to leaving my mouth.
He frowned. “No.”
“That I have some deep secret longing to feel close to you resulting in my stealing your shirt like
some creepy perv?”
“Course I don’t fucking think that,” he replied crankily, reaching up to grip the top of the doorframe. All of his bulging muscles stretched the arms of his white T-shirt in the nicest way. It was all I could do not to start drooling, my heart beat taking up residence somewhere down between my thighs. And who could blame it? Not me. Maybe if I got laid, this would go away and things would return to normal. It’d seemed safer to avoid rubbing up against any men just in case I got carried away and started dating again. This new situation, however, changed everything.
“Well, of course not! That would be crazy.” And wasn’t that the god’s honest truth? Cray-zeee. Lock me up and throw away the key because it wasn’t like I didn’t know better.
“Just can’t figure out where the hell it could be.”
Angels couldn’t have smiled as innocently. They might have tried, but they would have failed, the dirty-mouthed, winged, little liars. “Jimmy, I don’t know where it is. But I’ll look around for it later, okay?”
“Yeah,” he said, and then added as an afterthought, “and stop looking at me weird.”
