LIVE: Furious Rush by S.C. Stephens **Jodie’s Review**

Furious Rush

For Mackenzie Cox, racing motorcycles is in her blood. Born into a family legacy, she’s determined to show the world that she has inherited her father’s talent in this male-dominated sport. The last thing Kenzie needs is to be antagonised by her rival team’s newest rider, Hayden Hayes. Hayden, exceedingly arrogant and outrageously attractive, immediately gets under Kenzie’s skin and she can’t help but be distracted.

As Kenzie and Hayden push each other on the track, the electric energy between them off the track shifts into an intense – and strictly forbidden – attraction. The only rule between their two ultra-competitive teams is zero contact. Kenzie needs a win, and she also needs to stay away from Hayden. Unfortunately for her though, one thing has become all too clear: she can’t.

Fuelled by passion, driven by desire, Hayden and Mackenzie both want to win more than anything else. Except for, maybe, each other. But anger, jealousy and extreme competitiveness aren’t their only obstacles . . .

“Chase you or race you, huh?  Well then, get ready for the race of your life.”

S.C. Stephens stole my heart with Kellan and I can’t help but seem to not fall in love with every man she writes since. This book gave me the same feels, I was right back falling in love with a boy only this one played on a different stage.

“My Body was whispering dark and sinister thoughts to my brain.  Thoughts like Look at those lips.  Picture them all over your body.  What harm could it do?”

Ummm so yeah I thought those things and I was all I can ride a motorcycle and I totally can be Kenzie Cox!  But here’s the deal with her, Kenzie Cox was born into the world of racing.  The daughter to a father who is a racing legend and her goal is to be equal to him and make him proud.  Her mother passed away and this man was left raising daughters in a racing world.   Kenzie could definitely hold her own and was on her way to becoming a name on her own but then enter Hayden Hayes and the whole thing is flipped.  Hayden is the rival new racer who screams Mr Bad Boy and for her since they are on opposite teams, is completely off limits.  Hayden has his own rules and he does and gets what he wants.  However, when Hayden meets Kenzie he can’t help but be attracted to her. An attraction he needs to ignore but can’t.  Seriously I couldn’t ignore the heat and story between these two.  These two were dangerous together and their banter is completely what I missed in stories.  They can’t stay away from each and it’s something that even in their racing you can’t help but feel.  I don’t know how she did it but SC Stephens once again somehow created two characters with a realistic energy.  Their story completely plays out like a movie in your head and you can’t read the words fast enough to feed the reel.  You want for them, you cheer for them and you get pissed at them.  I loved the push and pull with characters.  However it is an easy story to read into and that’s the one thing that kept me from giving it 5 stars.  It’s predictable but the nice thing was I was still able to attach to them.  And I still wanted to race with them.

“Race me or Chase me, 43.  Let’s see what you’ve got.”
