Mica was raised on a ranch in Northeast Texas. Life was hard, but not impossible…until she met her own personal nightmare one night at a rodeo. She escaped his abuse by putting things behind her, isolating herself by moving to Chicago for college and work.
Davis Mason is the hard-living president of the Rebel Wayfarers, a motorcycle club operating out of Chicago. With just one encounter, he becomes determined to keep Mica safe…whether she wants him to or not. He will use every asset in his control to manage Mica, while holding himself aloof from taking the one thing he really wants…her.
Daniel Rupert is a successful businessman. He owns a trucking company and a hockey team, for which he is the star forward. Meeting Mica and Mason when he helped foil an attempt on her life, he began working jointly with Mason to keep her safe. But unlike Mason, Daniel is not satisfied with a platonic relationship. He insinuates himself into Mica’s life, and he only wants…everything.
Events escalate and Mica’s very life hangs in the balance as old threats resurface and the men in her life scramble to keep her alive.

I have read this series since the beginning and my only problem with Mica was that because of the previous books I already knew what happens. However it was still good to see more about what happened to her. As usual this author is a remarkably talented writer. She isn’t afraid to show readers the ugly as well as the beautiful in her books and I love her for that.
This is Mica’s story and I really didn’t care much for her character in this book. I did notice her maturity towards the end of this one than what she’s shown us in other books in this series. She’s pained and scarred. She’s suffered from a horrible past and you can see her torment. Her neighbor happens to be Mason, my love and president of the Rebel Wayfarer MC and his mission is to protect and care for Mica.
Mica has 2 men in love with her Daniel and Mason, they both will die to protect her. Daniel was a bit of a mystery to me but I loved how this author brings him into Mica’s life. True to form we see the comradery and the family dynamic in the Rebel Wayfarer family.
I had to take away all I knew and treat this book like it was my first dance with this series. Once I did that I was able to feel the tension and frustration between Mason and Daniel. It’s hard to be in love with a woman when you know you are better as her BFF. I felt more drawn to Mason because the man would do anything for Mica. When Mica’s past rears it’s ugly head Daniel, Mason and the Rebel Wayfarer MC will stop at nothing to keep her safe.
If you haven’t read this series please start with this book, the angst, tension and emotional moments will hit you like a brick. Overall I really loved Mica’s story. It was informative and enjoyable.

Raised in the south, MariaLisa learned about the magic of books at an
early age. Every summer, she would spend hours in the local library,
devouring books of every genre. Self-described as a book-a-holic, she
says “I’ve always loved to read, but then I discovered writing, and
found I adored that, too. For reading … if nothing else is available,
I’ve been known to read the back of the cereal box.”
A hockey fan, hiker, gamer, and single mom of a special needs son, she
embraces her inner geek and has been working in the tech field for a
publishing company for a couple decades.
Music is a driving passion, and she says, “I love music of nearly any
genre — jazz, country, rock, alt rock, metal, classical, bluegrass, rap,
hip hop … you name it, I listen to it. I can often be seen dancing
through the house in the early mornings. But I really, REALLY love live
music. My favorite thing with music is seeing bands in small, dive bars
[read: small, intimate venues]. If said bar [venue] has a good selection
of premium tequila, then that’s a plus!”
