“Some say the past is in the past. That vengeance will hurt both innocent and guilty. I never believed those lies. Once my lust for revenge is sated, I’ll say goodbye to hatred. I’ll find a new beginning.”
She came from a past Arthur “Kill” Killian never forgot. She made him sin and made him suffer. She tugged him from the shadows and showed him he wasn’t as dead as he thought. And with her resurrection came betrayal, deceit, and war.
But then they took her. Stole her. Imprisoned her.
Now Kill’s carefully laid plans for vengeance are complete. He craves action, retribution-the blood of his enemies. War has begun. War is all they’ll know until they’ve paid their penance. He will get her back-and rewrite their destiny . . .
It’s here, it’s here!! After the gut wrenching cliffhanger at the ending of Ruin & Rule, I have been anxiously waiting for Sin & Suffer (OK more like stalking, but who cares). I love Pepper Winters writing style. She has a gift for writing novels that are suspenseful, full of angst and with mesmerizing characters. Once I started Sin and Suffer I could not put my Kindle down. Each chapter starts off with a passage from Kill or Chloe’s past journals. It gives us a better understanding of their innocent and intense love, while also providing a balance from their very harsh and thrilling reality. By adding the glimpses of their past we are able to see that despite their years apart there was and would never be anyone else. They were never able to connect with anyone else.
Killian is a man out for blood after his enemy stole Chloe away from him again. The only thing on his mind is revenge. Chloe is Killian’s most valued possession. He can’t phantom a life without her again. He has to put his plans on hold to bring Chloe back home and punish those responsible. Killian is a multifaceted character, he is a genus with numbers and after joining ranks of Wallstreet while in the state pen, he is able to build an empire by trading in the stock market.
Once Killian and Chloe reunite there will be hell to pay. Killian, Chloe and the MC will have to face corruption and betrayal within the MC and fraud in the government. In book 1, we got small pieces of Killian and Wallstreet’s plans to bring down the enemy, but in this one there is more detail of their very intricate plans. Despite the many hurdles Killian and Chloe face together they will seek vengeance on those who stole their innocence years ago. Over the years apart and up to their present lives Killian and Chloe’s love prevail even when faced with death, murder and betrayal.
Chloe and Killian’s love is so beautiful to read about. I really loved them. Apart they were damaged souls but together they are undefeated. There is something to be said when the author manages to really make it where as a reader I really felt the characters strength and commitment of love. Seeing their past there is no denying the two were fated. Sin and Suffer kept me on my toes the way through. There were so many secrets, revelations and trials I was terrified they would not make it. This story is hot, romantic, harsh and thrilling. I have come to understand that Pepper Winters has a deep and imaginative writing style, no matter how dark her themes, she always manages to find a balance to soften it. Once again she has nailed this one and hit it out of the park!!!
