Master among the Monsters.
This final installment in the Masters Among Monsters series is not to be read as a standalone. These books must be read in order. If you have not started this series and are a fan of paranormal than this is one series that needs to be read. I am not a big fan of paranormal but because it’s Ella Frank and I love anything she writes, I had to read this series. Her words and her characters just have this allure to them that are completely mesmerizing. This series is addicting, these characters are phenomenal and the storyline is just nothing like I’ve ever read before.
This final book in the series continued on right from where the last one had left off. However this time we get a lot more up close and personal with Thanos, Paris and Eton. As like the other two books it doesn’t just focus on just two characters. Every single character has a POV. Even though this third installment is Thanos’s story he is just one part of the whole picture that is painted for us and I have to admit I really wish we had seen a lot more of this trio. I love all the other characters that are part of this intricate maze of beings, but I really wanted more page time with Thanos, Eton and Paris. Don’t get me wrong, I really love how we get to go back in time and see the how’s and why’s. Loved seeing how Thanos ended up as Eton’s first sired and learning the kind of dynamics they had going on and where Paris fit into all of that. Their story is not pretty, it’s intense and heartbreaking. Eton and Thanos have a very complexed history together and with the darkness that keeps pulling Eton into very scary places, I really wanted more.
I really loved that Ella created all of these characters with a lot of feeling even when some of them didn’t believe they could feel. Seeing how vulnerable some of these characters were and how affected they all were with each other added to this story and helped paint a larger picture for what was going on. Jealousy, love, anger, happiness, sadness, lust, envy, determination, protectiveness and salvation were just a few of the things that really came to the forefront in this book.
I really don’t want to go into any details because that would just ruin the whole experience of the story. Just know that Thanos, Eton, Paris and all the other characters don’t disappoint. This series truly was exceptionally written. I do have to admit that ending really had me confused. I had to flip back and forth to see if I had missed something because I was sitting there in the midst of such a high point, a moment that had been building up throughout the entire series and then I was honestly a little annoyed because I couldn’t believe after everything it would end that way. I needed more. I needed to know what the heck just happened. Ella Frank really is the master among monsters and regardless of that ending, I loved meeting each and every one of these characters.
