He’s a player in more ways than one…
College junior John Logan can get any girl he wants. For this hockey star, life is a parade of parties and hook-ups, but behind his killer grins and easygoing charm, he hides growing despair about the dead-end road he’ll be forced to walk after graduation. A sexy encounter with freshman Grace Ivers is just the distraction he needs, but when a thoughtless mistake pushes her away, Logan plans to spend his final year proving to her that he’s worth a second chance.
Now he’s going to need to up his game…
After a less than stellar freshman year, Grace is back at Briar University, older, wiser, and so over the arrogant hockey player she nearly handed her V-card to. She’s not a charity case, and she’s not the quiet butterfly she was when they first hooked up. If Logan expects her to roll over and beg like all his other puck bunnies, he can think again. He wants her back? He’ll have to work for it. This time around, she’ll be the one in the driver’s seat…and she plans on driving him wild.
WOW, what another fabulous hot hockey hunk from Elle Kennedy. I absolutely fell in love with Garrett in The Deal, so when I saw that the author was writing Logan’s story I was so excited that I have been pretty much counting down the days until we got him.
John Logan is a junior at Briar university and one of their star hockey players. He is living the life, drinking, partying and having a different girl every night. But it’s all just a distraction, from his best friend’s girl, Hannah, who he can’t stop thinking about and from the life that is waiting for upon graduation. One night by accident he knocks on the wrong door and ends up meeting a freshman, Grace Ivers, who becomes his newest distraction until he realizes it and feels bad about that fact. He ends up making a mistake that only pushes her away. Too late he realizes that she really wasn’t just a distraction and what his real issue was with Hannah. Grace almost made her own mistake by giving Logan her V-card but is now back for her sophomore year and she’s not the same person she was her freshman year. Logan wants her back and she’s going to make him work for her forgiveness.
I really loved Logan’s character, he was a typical jock, a man-whore who liked to party. But what most didn’t see, was that behind the jock who liked to party and have a good time, Logan was a really great guy, a guy who had the ability to have a great future in hockey but due to his family situation and a deal he made with his brother, he was having to give up that dream. He was also a guy that was confused, who couldn’t see what he really wanted and thought what he wanted was Hannah. And when he realized what he wanted was Grace, he was going to do anything he could to get her back, she was his “ONE”. I loved that he was the typical Alpha jock but he also had that caring sweet side and he wasn’t afraid to show, even though he took a lot of ribbing for it from his fellow teammates. I loved how thoughtful he was, even just after meeting Grace, when she was the focus of an attack by a bunch of childish and jealous girls, he came to her rescue, and from that moment on I was totally swooning over him.
I really loved Grace and I loved seeing her character evolve from her freshman year to her senior year, she was such a great heroine. She met Logan and was so meek and mild. She always took a back seat to Ramona, her life long friend, she was always the good friend who went along with everyone else. After both Ramona and Logan made mistakes that really hurt her, she had gone off to spend the summer in Paris with her mom and came back a different person. She was her own person, she wasn’t going to be the pushover anymore and I loved seeing her evolve into this. She forgave them both but she made them work for her trust and to win her back and that really spoke to how much her character had changed and I really loved that she did. She really liked Logan and she knew she was going to let him back into her life but she wasn’t going to let him back in easily.
I absolutely loved the storyline and how their relationship played out. It was so different from The Deal in Grace and Logan hookup right away, their chemistry is instant and off the charts but as quick as their casual relationship heated up, it ended just as quick. But as quick as it was, Grace changed him and his ways and he was determined, even many months later to win her back, he wasn’t going to let her get away. I really enjoyed all the hoops she made him jump through before she would go out with him and I loved that he did every one of them. These two were great together, they were hot and sexy but also sweet and funny. It truly was a great mix, and they were not only two people going out, they were friends that could talk about anything and everything. I loved seeing how their relationship developed, from a causal hookup with great chemistry, to then trying to start over as a couple dating to then so much more. I also really enjoyed some of the storylines that were going on in the background and were entwined with the main storyline. I loved the storyline with her friend Ramona and how from it she finally stood on her own two feet and decided she wouldn’t let anyone make a decision for her again, she became a much stronger person. I also enjoyed the storyline of Logan with his Dad and brother. Both really added more substance to the story so that it wasn’t completely all about the two of them and their relationship but also how the many other things going on around them and those that were close to them all on played a part of their story.
Overall another really fabulous read that I thoroughly enjoyed and could not put down, I devoured it pretty much in one sitting. It was sweet and funny, it was sexy but also has some drama and angst, a great mix of a little bit of everything that along with the great storyline, kept me engaged with the book starting on the first page right to the very end. Elle Kennedy truly knows how to write an amazing book and some really great characters, there are so many in this book that I am truly hoping this is not the end of the series and here’s hoping we will get to see both Dean’s and Tucker’s story and get to see more of both Garrett & Hannah and Grace and Logan, not ready to let them go just yet.
Elle currently writes for various publishers. She loves strong heroines and sexy alpha heroes, and just enough heat and danger to keep things interesting!
