Book: The Perfect Wave
Author: A.J. Pryor
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Let me start off by saying if you are looking for a book filled with lots of angst and sexual tension with a whole lot of flirting this is a must read.
The book grabs you right away and I had a hard time putting it down.
Roan Anders is a sports agent for some of the world’s top extreme athletes. He is also your typical womanizing man-whore who sleeps with everyone. After a bad experience with a woman a few years ago believes the whole relationship things is not for him and is happy just playing the field until Jessica Baker walks into his life. Jessica or as Roan calls her Goldilocks is smart and she knows what she wants and she wants Roan. She also refuses to take any of Roan’s crap.
“Jessica Baker, the one woman who may succeed in driving me insane.”
The sexual tension between these two could light up a Christmas tree. Hold on to your hats because you are in for a ride. The book is filled with drama and miscommunication. I was screaming at my kindle a few times for them to get their heads out of their asses and go for it. The banter between these two was fantastic.
“Did Roan seriously kiss my boo-boo away?”
“I don’t want to know about any of your past flames, Locks. I’m going to kill any guy who’s ever touched you. You’re mine now.”
Mason is Roan’s closes friend and Mason’s fiancé Casey is Jess’s best friend. Roan and Jess’s lives are intertwined because of that and that is one issue that has the two of them guarded and trying to fight the desire and want they feel towards each other. They don’t want to make their friends have to choose if it didn’t work out for them.
“Jessica was a relationship type of girl, and I was a notch-on-the-bedpost type of guy. We would never work and most likely destroy a few friendships in our wake.”
One thing I loved about this book was Jess. She was not only smart but was realistic and even though she had her heart guarded she was willing to take a chance. She came from a very wealthy family but she left that life behind in order to be herself. She doesn’t let her family or others dictate how she should run her life.
“Maybe there was no perfect wave, only the illusion of one. Reality will come crashing around you- a reminder that fairy tales rarely come true.”
Be prepared because Roan Anders is like no other. When he decides he wants something he goes balls to the wall to get it and takes no prisoners. There was some steamy panty melting scenes and Roan sure knew how to worm his way into Jess’s heart.
“You are my personal sunrise, Locks. Everything shines brighter when I’m with you.”
“You are the sun, the sand, and the sea all wrapped up in one perfect package just for me. I love you Locks”
