A new stand alone enemies-to-lovers romance by USA Today bestselling author K.A. Linde…
I spent six weeks screwing Austin Wright’s brains out and all I got was this broken heart.
He can’t be trusted. Not with my body or my heart. Yet, two years have passed and I still crave him like an addict needing a fix.
The last time we tried this, it nearly ruined me. I know I should run and never look back. But his dark haunted eyes and razor blade smile speak to my soul. His touch sets my body on fire. And we all know what happens when you light gasoline. Someone is bound to get burned.
A second chance might destroy us both.
Because everyone knows two wrongs don’t make a Wright.
The Wright Mistake is a standalone enemies to lovers romance but it’s also part of Wright brother series, The Wright Brother and The Wright Boss. All can be read as standalone but I think I would have enjoyed this one more had I read the other two first as we got to see quite a bit of those characters from those books in this one. With that said I didn’t feel lost or missing information, I just think I would have enjoyed getting to see more of characters I had already read about.
Julia and Austin have a past, once that didn’t end well. Now two years later Julia is fresh off a break up and after some convincing, has decided to give Austin a second chance. Second time around it’s not only the past that is causing issues for them, Austin’s drinking is something Julia is not willing to accept.
I must say this one is much more emotional and at times deeper than I expected and did leave me sitting on the edge of my seat at one point. Writing about it , let alone living with addiction can’t be easy but this author did a really great job of truly showing the struggles for those with addiction issues as well as those that love them. I was also pleased that the author didn’t tread lightly on the topic and followed the story through to the end when it came to Austin and his addiction to alcohol.
Both Julia and Austin’s characters were great, I enjoyed the dynamic the author built between them. Although there were times I wished I could have seen more from their connection as I didn’t always fully feel it. At times I felt that in the beginning things were rushed with how their relationship progressed and would have loved to see the pace a little slower to totally feel the transition from enemies to lovers once again.
Overall this one was definitely a mix of a little bit of everything. It was heartbreaking and emotional but also sweet and fun and totally hot. I agree that this one can be read as a standalone but wished that I have read the first two before reading this one, I think I would have had a better feel for their characters and their story having already met them and would have had better appreciation of the other characters that were in the first two books.
