“I know butterflies, can’t squeal, but I think I heard the ones in my stomach do just that as I held his hand.”
Carter and Ellyson met when they were in college. The minute Carter saw her he knew he had to get to know her. They both had feelings for each other but ended up becoming best friends. Carter ends up having to move back to Dallas because his father was very sick and he only trust Carter to run his company.
“Yeah, “just friends” wasn’t even an option for us anymore.”
It’s now five years later and Carter’s moving back to NYC. He’s on a mission to get the woman who stole his heart all those years ago. Elly has been in love Carter all these years and has never been able to commit to a relationship with anyone else. The minute these two see each other again sparks fly! They both know they can’t just go back to being friends and can only move forward.
“It’s ok if you’re not ready, but I need to know that someday you will be ready. I want a life with you. You’re the only woman I’ll ever want forever with.”
Elly’s mother died from cancer when she was younger which has made Elly scared that she will end up with it as well. Her fear of dying makes it hard for her to commit to Carter. However, Carter will not give up without a fight.
“He made me love drunk.”
Yup, Carter did that to me too!! Carter is truly an amazing character in this story. While I understand why Elly feels the way she does, I love how he fights for her. I wish we would’ve gotten a little more background on their relationship in college so we could see how they fell in love with each other. We do get some emotional scenes but no real angst. This is just a feel good love story! If you’re looking for something light and fast to read, I’d definitely one-click this book!
“Plus, we were friends, I didn’t think you wanted me that way.”
“That’s the only way I’ve ever wanted you. It’s always been you for me.”
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
