Five years. I would’ve stayed away longer if I hadn’t received the letter. Not a day has gone by that I haven’t thought about her, haven’t missed her smile, haven’t wished that things were different.
The last time I saw my two best friends, I vowed to not stand in the way of their happiness, even if that meant I couldn’t be a part of their lives. Cameron James and her emerald-green eyes were too much of a temptation and I couldn’t stay and watch them together. Cameron deserved better than me. She deserved him.
But now that I am back, things are different. I’m not going to stand by and watch the woman I’ve always loved slip away again. I’m done living my life with regrets and I’m ready to tell her the truth. And I’ll do whatever it takes to show her that I always wished she was mine.
Author Tara Sivec is one of my all time favorite authors so saying I was super excited to get my hands on this new book by her is an understatement.
Tara is the queen of Romantic Comedy so I was really interested in seeing how she was going to do with a book that is not comedy but a second chance romance. Let me say she did not disappoint.
I loved the plot and was able to connect with the characters. The book drew me in right away and had me hooked from cover to cover.
The writing was flawless but hey, this is Tara so I was definitely expecting that. The plot was unique and a breath of fresh air and the characters had such depth to them you really were able to connect and feel all the things they felt. My heart broke several times and was filled with joy other times throughout reading this book. You could feel the connection that they had and I loved the flashbacks to when they were younger. It gave you the incite to just how deep their love and friendship went. That is not to say there wasn’t several times I wanted to smack Cameron or Everett upside the head with their own book. My heart broke for Aiden. Even though he wasn’t the main focus of this story I loved his character. “Don’t ever stop wishing on stars. My wish came true, and so will yours. Aiden” Loved the relationship between the two main characters and could relate to how much they cared for each other and wanted the best for each other.
“It’s been over four-and-a-half years since I’ve seen Cameron James, but mot a day has gone by that I haven’t thought about her. Haven’t wished on a thousand stars that I would have done things differently the last night I saw her. Aiden was right in his letter. I need to stop wishing and star making things happen, by repairing my friendship with her.”
The author threw some twists that I didn’t expect but loved it!!!!
Overall the book was well written and the story was told perfectly. I loved everything about this book. It checked all the boxes for me that need to be checked for a second-chance romance.
“Life’s too short to do something that doesn’t make you happy, and to spend your time with someone who isn’t your entire world.”
